Cute space, but come on! $4 for bad coffee??!! The food was decent, but really overpriced. What we need in NYC is a good ole' International House of Pancakes (aka IHOP). Until...

Not all it's cracked up to be 11/15/2002

My husband and I both thought Norma's was very overrated. We waited close to two hours, and the menu items were all too sweet and rich. We weren't impressed, and will not return. more

Doubters - Put your mind at ease... 11/13/2002

Fabulous!!! Everything good that everyone had said up till now is true - and more. The only drawback was how tough it was to choose!!! I actually didn't find the decor cold and intimidating, or the prices too high! My Mom and I split the scrambled egg& Salmon stuffed croissant - amazing. Each half portion could have been a whole in any other restaurant. In addition, Kimberly, the sweetest waitress ever, let us order half an order of pancakes - which was huge anyway. We were full, not stuffed and comletely satisfied by every bite. With that, coffee and tip, we were out $45 - and did not need to eat again till late afternoon. You owe it to yourself to indulge... Pros: Amazing food, Wonderful service, Awesome selection more

worth the hype 10/28/2002

very creative, fun-good for group, food is great, must go early though as gets crowded on weekends-but a great special occasion place more

Can't wait to return 10/5/2002

We went on a Friday morning around 9:00, we had to wait about 10 minutes, no problem. Decor was very modern, very cool. The OJ was awesome, Banana nut pancakes were the best we've ever had, and the Chocolate French Toast was unbelievable. The cost was $60 with tip for 2 people. Expensive yes, but in NYC it's not overly expensive. I didn't eat the rest of the day and I could only finish 2/3 of the French Toast. The coffee was European in flavor, very good. I can't wait to go back!! Pros: decor, service, original menu items more

Delectable 10/4/2002

Undoubtably, the best brunch I have had anywhere in the city. We were seated when they told us we would be and every dish was delicious. The waiter was friendly and even the maitre'd helped us with our decisions. French toast, omelettes anything your heart desires. No wonder everyones plate was clean...the food was to good to resist. It was worth the hour wait and I can't wait to go back again! more

Feels very posh and trendy - the food was delicious, although the seating was a bit cramped. more

disappointing for the 'best' 10/2/2002

Went for a Sat. brunch.. The sample smoothie was the best I've ever had. Didn't order it though. The food was good overall, but unremarkable given the price. Great OJ. Overcooked eggss. Nice neat restaurant layout. Pros: Friendly Cons: Price, Long Wait more

c'mon! it's not so great. 10/2/2002

70 bucks including tip for 2. oj (very good) carrot juice (gritty pulp!), one coffee (above avg), waffle dish & eggs benedict. eggs were cold. english muffin tough as nails. home fries were bland & not the least bit warm. waffle (wazaa) was tasty. service was friendly but overwhelmed, even after peak time. i can't say that it would be worth a second trip anytime soon. shoulda mentioned the cold dish to someone. Pros: decor Cons: cost more

Something to talk about... 9/23/2002

I took my friend here for a birthday brunch and we both agreed that Norma's is fabulous! The only downside to this place is the wait; even with a reservation we waited almost an hour for our table! However, once you gain your ""entry pass"", you'll find the food to be simply divine and worth the few extra $. Not to mention you might spot a celebrity or politician in there...Governor Pataki sat right next to us. Pros: Fabulous Food, Ambience Cons: crowded, Very long wait more

starve yourself before you arrive 9/15/2002

My husband and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Wait staff friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Food delicious. Huge portions. Non-stop fresh squeezed o.j. Smoothies perfect after breakfast drink. Take a long walk in Central Park to walk off the delicious meal. Pros: Never ending OJ, Friendly wait staff, Fresh ingredients Cons: Price more

YUM YUM YUM 9/14/2002

Norma's is my personal fave for fantastic breakfast/brunch food!! I am truly in love with the egg white frittata with shrimp and asparagus (sometimes they sneak and substitute spinach, which is just fine with me), and that OJ!! WOW. I'm a Florida native and darn picky about OJ, but this is by far the best I have ever had anywhere. My one tiny wish for Norma's is that the decor made you feel as welcome and comfortable as the excellent food and sweet, attentive staff do. Hint: if you work in midtown, go for lunch--they are open til 3! Pros: Brunch of the Gods, BEST Orange Juice, Attentive service Cons: Cold modern decor more

fruity drinks 9/4/2002

I love the taste of a new fruity drink every time you go! the fresh jams are outstanding and the food is just delicious. expect to wait a VERY long time! Pros: great food Cons: long waits, pricey breakfast more

Best breakfast in the city 8/29/2002

Norma's is my favorite place to eat breakfast when I am in Manhattan. The decor is stylish and minimalistic. I love the smoothies that come in the test-tube style glasses. The food is to die for. It is expensive for breakfast, but what isn't in Manhattan. And it's a struggle to get in. But it is worth it when you do. more

ABSOLUTELY WORTH GOING TO 8/28/2002

Do not miss going to this restaurant. Have made it a point to go there whenever I am in New York! more

Norma's for coffee??? 8/28/2002

The confusiion here is Best Cup of Coffee...the reviews discuss many things and not prioritizing the coffee...this system is not quite fair as these are fans of other tthings at Norma's...Coffee is average at best...ask around. Cons: very average coffee, pricey, slow service more

BEST BRUNCH EVER 8/26/2002

AMAZING!!! By far the best brunch in the city! Everyone run, run, run to Normas more

B-day breakfast bonanza! 8/23/2002

My teenage sons always ask for Norma's when we come to NYC. We now celebrate b-days there. The wait staff are well known to us and it's a pleasure to see their familiar faces - especially the wonderful ""earth mother"", Kimberly. Just this week, I took a friend there for her b-day and made sure that we were in Kimberly's section. My friend was thrilled with the warm generous service - from everyone - including the host who came over to wish her a Happy B-day and the chocolate strawberries with a birthday candle, that Kimberly delivered . I've never had a disappointing dish there. more

Live Life Joyfully! 8/23/2002

My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday after watching James Taylor Friday Concert in Rockefeller Center. Loved the sample of the smoothie. Remember to Live Life Joyfully! more

Feet pattin' good 8/12/2002

Everytime my granddad ate good food he always used to pat his feet. Everyone knew then he liked what he was eating. Well, grandpa would be pattin' up a storm if he ate at Norma's. Grandpas long gone but his grandson is having a grand ole time eating his waffles and berries and the lobster and eggs dishes. It's real good! Pros: nice decor, good atmosphere, pleasant servers Cons: the wait more

YUM YUM YUM 8/11/2002

Norma's has a very unique gourmet brunch that appeals to gourmands and food Philistines alike. The $7 bottomless orange juice is the best OJ value in town, especially for snobby native Floridians like me who won't drink it anywhere else! The whazzaa is ridiculously sugar-laden and scrumptious. For a less insulin-shocking meal, try the egg white/shrimp/spinach frittata. Excellent!! Pros: Friendly service, Fab brunch food Cons: Cold decor more
