Best

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

Worst

When you pay $26 for a brunch buffet, the best item on the buffet should NOT be the waffles. Unfortunately that was the case here. To their credit, the waffles were damn good. ...

Worst value; bad food 5/3/2005

The Sunday brunch has been changed and for the worse. Not worth the $30 per person price tag. The new format is a five course brunch, which limits selection of nearly all poorly prepared food. The food is either grossly overcooked (the shrimp and scallops in my bouillabaise was tough as nails) or extremely undercooked (the beef tenderloin sandwich was rare). Other things of note: the bread was stale; 5 piece pastry basket was extremely paltry to serve a table of five. Service is also not up to par with the cost. While the servers are amiable, they are undertrained and not attentive. They never refilled the orange juice that was provided upon seating. Had to be asked for tea. Never again will we return to the Nicollet Inn Restaurant. Pros: Fair view, rather charming inn, nice staff Cons: Overpriced, Poorly trained staff, Poor quality food more

Wonderful special occasion dinner venue 1/22/2005

I had the opportunity to justify the cost of of dining at the Nicollet Island Inn for our annual ""new years resolution dinner"". Yes it's expensive, Yes it's worth it. I don't think I've ever had better service, which was helpful and pleasant without being obtrusive, especially the wine maitre de. After mentioning to him that the wine we had chosen didn't go well with some of the cheeses on the appetizer plate we had ordered he immediately rushed off to the kitchen and had the chef put together another plate of cheeses for us that he thought went better with our wine. Our waitress was polite and quick, but respected our conversation and privacy. The wine maitre de also reserved us a seat on the horse drawn carriage rides after we inquired about them during our dinner. Overall wonderful romantic experience. Pros: great service, Excellent ambience, Very romantic more

For a special night... 9/7/2004

This place is incredible!!!!! The sevice, the ambiance, the location, the surroundings! I just love this little area of minneapolis! From the moment we arrived at the resturant we had tons of attention and great service, but not instrusive. It was incredibly romantic and felt very private in our little corner booth. The food wasn't mind-blowing, outta-this world...but it was still very good and presented beautifully. To top off a fabulous night, by boyfriend took for a walk down by the river by the Nicollet Island Pavillion and proposed to me! Pros: ROMANTIC!!!!, service, parking is easy more

wow!! 7/7/2004

This place is a treat! Rubbing elbows in the early morn with very wealthy people comming down from their rooms in their Versace pajamas. The food is unbelievable, even the millionaires are impressed! WORTH EVERY PENNY. Pros: food, staff, atmosphere more

Best Brunch I've Ever Had! 6/24/2004

Outstanding special occasion brunch. I took my parents there for Fathers Day, $115 for 4 people. I wouldn't spend that much just any weekend, but ABSOLUTELY worth it for a special treat. Free Mimosas. Don't miss the seasoned prime rib and the homemade belgian waffles with fresh berries! mmm... and MAKE room for the blueberry amaretto cake! Walk off the calories at the Art Fair at St Anthony Main. I will go back next year! Pros: FLAVOR!, Service, Choices, River view Cons: , expensive more

Overrated ! 6/22/2004

This is overrated. The sence, the service, the food, the drinks are suck big time and yet costly. For the same amount of money you could find a place a lot better than this. After reading all the positive posts, I decided to check the place out last saturday, and it was a major disappointment. This is my first and aslo my last forever. more

It was what I expected! 3/23/2004

I was expecting a quiet, romantic place to wine and dine my loved one for his birthday and I got exactly what I expected! The staff was very helpful and put us ""country bumpkins"" at ease. We were seated promptly and had excellent waiter service. The bill was plentiful, but exactly what I expected for the food and the service. I would recommend eating here!! Pros: Service, Good parking, Friendly servers more

Best meal of my life 3/16/2004

This was quite possibly the best evening of my life. The food was perfect, the service was exceptional and the ambience was out of this world. If you're looking for romance, this is definitely the place to be. Pros: Food, Parking, Scenery more

Overrated 2/12/2004

It came with such a great review that we expected much more. Are we talking about the same place? I was looking for cozy and romantic? I'm not sure where we were seated, but they walked us through a dark, abandoned buffet area. Not exactly a scenic stroll. Their shortcut made the ambiance seem less than desirable. It was too dark to see anything out the window. After that disappointment, I was scared about what the rest of the evening would hold - perhaps every element would be overrated. The food did turn out to be interesting and tasty, albeit pricey. I guess the bottom line is, it was chosen for the great talk up on the atmosphere, and there wasn't as much as you'd expect for the price. more

WOW 10/13/2003

Ate there with my girlfriend on the spur of the moment and was quite impressed. The food was probably the best in the cities and the ambiance was excellent. Definately recommend it for anyone looking for a great night out. Pros: Food, Service, location Cons: Price more

Sets the Stage for Romance 7/6/2003

My Honey and I had our first date here 3 years ago and always go back for Valentine's Day and our Anniversary. We dine out a lot, but we love this place for the great food and especially the outstanding Wine List. Take a walk along the river after dinner, or better yet - Get a Room! more

Ah-h-h Romance 3/11/2003

The perfect place for a romantic dinner. A most memorable dining experience, we'll be back soon! Looking forward to a carriage ride after dinner this spring! more

wanted to stay longer! 1/31/2003

My fiance and I went for Valentines Day two years ago. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was even better. Unfortunately we were in a time crunch (to go to Triple Espresso, nearby--excellent, as well) and we both wish we had more time to take it all in. Pair it with the Music Box Theater and it makes a wonderful evening. more

Great food and service!!! 1/17/2003

I took a friend of mine to dinner at the Nicollet Island Inn last Sat night. First we had the treat of free valet and then greeted the minute we walked in the door. We did not have reservations but we were seated within 5 minutes. The server was at our table within minutes of sitting down and suggested a very nice bottle of wine wich we enjoyed and that was followed by one of the best Filet's I have had in years. The service was excelent and well worth money. Pros: Free Parking, Intimate setting, Non smoking more

Disappointment 1/6/2003

Disappointed after a big build up by others - price was very high given the competition at the higher end of the spectrum. Atomosphere was only so-so. Pros: location, building Cons: cost, service more

best dinner in twin cities 11/22/2002

great food and atmosphere. best wine list that i've seen in the twin cities and very knowledgable servers.can't wait for our next visit Pros: beautiful setting, excellent service, free valet parking more

Memorable 11/12/2002

The food was superb and the ambience was very nice. No lights on outside, but we look forward to going back around the holiday's to see them and the snow along the river bank. Pros: Pampered, Romantic Cons: Limited Menu, no music more

honeymoon haven 10/24/2002

My first experience was when my new bride and I spent our first marital night together at the Nicollet Island Inn. It was close to the city, yet away enough for privacy, and we were wisked away by limo to the airport for our carribean cruise. All in all it was an evening to remember. Great rooms great food and a carraige ride if you want one. Pros: location, privacy, food Cons: access, parking, neighboring services more

cozy, lovey-dovey atmosphere 9/30/2002

Just gives you the warm fuzzies to be there. The fish was excellent. Brunch was always wonderful as well. more

Excellent views, good food 9/27/2002

I've eaten breakfast, brunch and lunch here often. Great, relaxing views of the Mississippi. They used to serve the best Walleye sandwich, but it may be off the menu. No matter, the other menu items are great. Pros: Great view, Elegant surroundings, Good food Cons: Small meeting rooms more
