I just had my first haircut with Alejandra, and she was WONDERFUL! I moved to the area 2 years ago and have been searching for someone who can cut my hair right (I have very fine, but thick cork screw curls). I've actually been flying back home to get a cut. I've gone a year without a cut, as I am very picky with who cuts my hair. I had my last stylist for 10 years.
I found Mina's on line and reviewed the BIO's of the stylist and chose Alejandra, as she likes working with long hair and curls. I had to drive 30 minutes to get to the salon, but it was worth it. The salon isn't as upscale or intimate as I am used to in South Florida, but the results were superb. Alejandra listened to what I wanted and spoke to me about what she thought would look best.
The salon itself is small, and yes, it is busy. Alejandra, one of the owners, did step away from me several times to assist another stylist. I actually thought that was great! Instead of "winging" it like some stylists, those at Mina's took great pains to insure that they were doing what was best for the client.
When I got home, my daughters loved my hair. The first thing one of them asked was if she could go have hers done to repair the damage from a cut she got 2 weeks ago from one of the other "best" salons around.
While the salon is pricey, I will be back. Ambiance and pampering are nice, but the bottom line is I want a good cut.
Pros: Great stylist
Cons: It's in Chapel Hill!
