Mile Hi Saved my Lawn, they rock. Here is my Story.
I wanted to post here and talk about my experience with them. I had recently moved into a new house late last summer and the yard was a disaster. Mile hi had done a neighbors yard and I said sure what the heck and let them come out. They told me everything I should do with my yard to bring it back to life. I met with Mike and his assistant (cant remember his name) and they started with aeration and then told me exactly what to do in the coming months in order to get a good growth in the spring of 2012. I did what they said at the time which was aerate, fertilize and seed. I took their word for it. I heard the whole pitch about how aeration helps loosen compacted soil, allows air and good nutrients to get into the root system blah blah blah. I really had nowhere to start from because the home was bank owned so the yard went to crap while it sat there for 9 months. I was a little hesitant but my neighbor used them and said they were all good and I saw their work first hand. I did not measure any plugs to see how long they were but I saw a ton of them, so that must be a good thing. I had mega weeds (which I used that scotts stuff to kill that actually worked) and their advice with their products. I took the plunge because my only other option was to literally tear up the whole yard and then lay down new sod. The price tag on that for a 4500 sq ft lawn came in right around $4,400.00 which almost made my puke. I had a pit in my stomach and when they told me there was a way to save my lawn I felt better and simply took their advice, hoping I could spend that money on building out my basement. I did also bounce their recommendations after I did off other professionals who all said that was the right thing to do. Everyone somewhat had some variations of opinion as to what would be the best but they all centered around the same core executables (aerating, fertilizers, seeding etc). Some people thought some products were better than others, yadda yadda yadda whatever. Everyone is a critic right?
So, fast forward…about 3 weeks went by and I did not see much progress and was kinda ticked off. I called and got a customer service rep and she put me over to crystal. She looked me up and then asked me a few questions about what I was doing after they left. It turned out I was watering at the wrong time. I changed my watering schedule to nights and early mornings. A week later I saw a noticeable difference so I was happy. Then it was coming on colder temps and with what I saw I was satisfied to wait through fall and winter until spring to again see how my lawn turned out based on their work and their advice.
I forgot it about it until my phone rang in early march asking if I wanted aeration. I again took their advice with multiple treatments ( I fertilized again and got the liquid stuff they offer with aeration). Since it was spring I went overboard and ordered the whole buffet because I wanted my yard to be fixed. I certainly spent the money.
They came out as promised, did all they said they would and left. I again confirmed more questions with the guys about watering and other care tips and they were very helpful. This was early march. My lawn now looks awesome. I am kicking myself up and down for not taking a “before” picture, just so I could show the after picture. I have no regrets using them, they totally took care of me and fixed what I considered at the time to be a whole new sod project. Thanks again Mike and Mile hi.
