We had this terrible experience in Mehfil today.I am an Indian food blogger and has reviewed many restaurants in Redmond-Bellevue area.4 of us went for dinner on saturday evening and ordered a Biriyani and tikka masala and some rotis..I was aghast to find out that the portion they served was about half of what they used to serve before..A very teeny tiny kadai of tikka masala and about 2 ladles of biriyani which is just enough for one person.We called up the person who looked like the manager and told them our concern and instead of acknowledging it he was trying to prove that the portions were same as like before.Afterwards as we had no option we ordered an extra chicken vindaloo and rotis for take out.To our utter dismay,the vindaloo was just chicken in some Chilli powder solution,deep red and tasting like plain chilli water..We had to throw out the entire thing out in fear of upset tummies. THIS PLACE REALLY SUCKS!! service wise,taste wise and portion wise..Please do avoid this place,there are some great indian places out there in Bellevue if you are looking for one..! more

As noted in the other reviews we should have taken our cues from the lack of customers. The service was terrible, seems only one of the two waiters showed up. The food was mediocre at best, I had the peanut coconut curry with prawns. When the bill came, I pulled out my Living Social voucher to present to the waiter and could tell this was going south when I saw the expression on his face. He then proceeded to tell me that the voucher was not valid for the ""Happy Hour"" menu. Huh? That little tid--bit seems to have been left off the voucher fine print. But he did go on to explain that we could use the voucher on our next visit (I don't think so). So I suggested just charging us the 6pm and after prices, seemed rather easy (should have seen this one coming), the bill increases by almost 40%. So if you are looking for expensive mediocre dining, this place is for you. more

To call this ""fine Indian"" dining is a stretch. If you want fine Indian dining you should go to Saffron Grill (the best ever), but not this place. We arrived at 5:30pm on Saturday night to an empty restaurant. We planned to use our Groupon that he purchased some time ago. We order pakoras, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and lamb curry. The crispy pakoras were quite tasty, but some of them were not not fried well enough and soggy. Unfortunately the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were nearly indistinguishable from each other and both tasted like they were make with a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup. The lamb curry was ok and the rice pudding my husband reports was acceptable. When we tried to use our Groupon we were told that it was ""happy hour"" and we couldn't use our Groupon. This confused us as there was nothing posted indicating it was happy hour and the menu certainly did not say ""Happy Hour"" or anything of the sort. I pointed out to the waiter that there were no limitations on the Groupon and asked him to honor the Groupon. He said he had to call his boss and went to make a phone call. He returned and told us that we could not use the Groupon. I told him this was unacceptable and he went to make another phone call. When he returned he handed us another menu and said he could ring up our dinner at higher rates and then allow us to use the Groupon. At this point I explained that I was a very dissatisfied customer. I explained that I felt this was poor service and the asked him again to honor the Groupon as there was no limitation on the Groupon and no ""happy hour"" posted. The waiter returned with another waiter who looked totally freaked out and refused to assist us. At that point we just paid the bill and left. There are too many fabulous Indian Restaurants (Saffron Grill) that have great customer service to even consider returning to Mehfil. more

I have tried Indian restaurants all over the Seattle area (Seattle, Eastside, Everett, etc) and this is easily one of the best I have ever had. The daily buffet is a great, inexpensive lunch option and the tandori chicken, butter chicken, and naan are all to die for. The negative reviews must be from people who have no idea what good indian food should taste like. more

This restaurant is probably the worst restaurant on earth. Terrible stale food along with arrogant snobbish owners. I can't put in words how bad our experience and the food was. I think some of the slightly favorable reviews below were written by the owners themselves. I would have liked to do the owners a favor and give them more business by asking you guys to try out the restaurant and judge for yourselves how bad this place is; but I care about the readers. I was spending a night at the Redmond Marriott and walked a couple hundred yards or so to get to the restaurant. The restaurant includes ""the usual"" dishes plus some dishes fairly unique to Indian restaurants - I had chicken with a coconut-peanut sauce. The real treat was the following day when, after checking out of the hotel, I went back to the restaurant to sample the lunch buffet. It was fantastic, one of the best I've ever had at an Indian restaurant and - believe me - I've tried a lot of them. There were a wide number of both vegetarian and meat dishes - even three deserts. Everything I sampled was delicious. I liked it so much that I just got a weekend night for the Marriott next week. You can be sure that I will be visiting this restaurant again - hope it stays in the program! more

They have huge selection of North Indian and Indo-chinese food. The Food is really tasty. I had food catered couple of times from them and food was warm, fresh and tasty. Pros: Great food, Great variety more

I took a few visiting business guests and regret the decision. The food is not great, the bread was rather chewy & seemed as if it had been sitting out for a while. The rudeness of the service was worrisome. They got our order wrong and insisted they had it right. They said the bread is supposed to be served the way it was served. And I told them I was born yesterday. more

Not only was the customer service excellent but the food was fabulous...We had the lamb tikka masala and the chicken tikka...a bit of spice but not too much...the meat was tender,the sauces were sweet and savory...It was my husband's Birthday so they came out with a dessert of mango ice cream and carrot cake..I thought I didn't have any more room but one taste of the ice cream and miraculously I was hungry...to mix the ice cream with the sponge cake gave it a swirl of flavors...It cooled our palate from the dinner...We are going back...one of the best Indian restaurants in the Seattle area... more

We stopped here for dinner after a very long day of driving. We were tired and hungry and just wanted some decent food. We both enjoy East Indian food and thought we would try this restaurant. more

We recently visited seattle and statyed at the mariott near mehfil. I really loved the buffet there - great variety and authentic taste - don't forget the free mango lassi. We were so impressed with the buffet that we decided to go for dinner the next day and we were not disappointed. My wife and kids loved the food. Pros: Authentic food, great variety more

Mehfil has the best Indian food, hands down, in the Puget Sound area. I have rarely been to an Indian restaurant that uses fresher ingredients. Everything from the tenderness of the meat to the sweetness of the dessert displays the artistry of the chef. Must say I have only been to their buffet. However, from what I have seen, their dinner entrees must be made with even more attention. I rarely write reviews....this I had to. Enjoy! Pros: Food Cons: Hard to find. Ambience could be better. Even as is, is better than 99% of the Indian res in the US. Maybe some soothing indian instrumental music would be great. Hariprasad Chaurasia maybe. more

I have perused through others? comments and disagreed to the negative tones regarding the restaurant?s foods. My experience with the restaurant?s foods, service, ambiance, and location are general excellent. I took my Real Estate Clients and Friends there to treat them to dinner/buffet, and they all agreed with me that this restaurant has excellent quality in foods and service. Did I mention I love their desserts? They are tastefully delicious!!!! Also, the ambiance is by far greater than many Indian restaurants out there. This is one of many reasons why I keep coming back to them. Additionally, the owner, Krishna, and the staff members are very gracious and helpful. We went today to this place after a while since the new management came in (old name was Sahib cuisine). We ordered Indian chinese dishes. It was horrible - I would give it a rating of 2 or 3 out of 10. The schewzen noodles was glorified Maggi, you can cook better food at home in 2 minutes. Everything from soups, ragda patti to gobi manchurian and even the curries were really very bad. Avoid this place at any cost. Goto Bamboo Garden nearby for indian-chinese and every other Indian resturant in the Redmond area is many times better. Pros: ambience and location Cons: food, service more

after reading some good reviews about this place . i planed to treat my friends in mehfil for my birthday. as soon as we entered in to the restaurant. we saw some good ambiance and nice aroma from the kitchen . we asked to the waitress about the flavour , as she explained about the special dum biriyani. we desided to order. and it was wonderful and nicely decorated. and i can recommend the cheese bread , chicen chiili and chetinad chicken. .waitress is very active great service .we enjoyed will be back . see u soon more

we went with couple of my friends on thursdayfor buffet. i found great foods . looks so fresh and delicious like some of the chiniese dishes , naans and mousse are awesome. my friends were happy.i recomend this place more
