I recently went to Manhattan Auto Care to have the hood on my Acura replaced due to collision damage. I was very nervous because I never used them before. However, when I met the owner Richard, he was knowledgable, courteous, and respectful of my concerns. The employees were also extremely courteous and took time to answer all of my questions. They were great. I decided to let them repair the car and all I can say is that I am so happy with the outcome. It took less than a week, I picked up the car today, and the quality of the workmanship is excellent. I am so pleased with the repairs and the customer service. I would recommend them to anyone. more

I was directed by my insurance company, USAA, to get an estimate for some body work done by these guys after a small hit and run on my Volvo. I came down and met with the owner, Richard, a bitter, angry guy who barely gave me the time of day. He took photos of the damage and I asked him how much it would cost to repair. He asked me how much my deductible was and I told him $500. So he said it would cost $500 if I paid cash and didn't submit it to my insurance company. That should have been my cue to get out of there but I was already on the LES and needed the get the car fixed. I also was hearing a small whirring noise come out of the engine compartment that he told me he would be able to fix that easily at a minimal extra cost. Fast forward 2 weeks. The car is finally back from his ""shop"" and Richard tells me the total is $1700. $1200 of which was to fix the whirring sound. He sent me the invoice which some made up document without any parts invoices or labor detail. He also demanded that I pay cash. I was unable to get to the garage that day and my wife didn't have enough cash in her account to cover the bill so I told him I'd have to come back later in the week to pay him. I then get a call from his secretary telling me that he is going to charge me $100 a day storage until I pick up my car. I was blown away. Please, I beg you, do not ever, ever use this garage. Richard is plain and simple a thief. more

was sent to their other location on 57th st by my insurance company to get a repair estimate. arrived within 10 minutes of the appointment time, and there was no one there. this business appears to be little more then a sign in a parking garage. called the number on the sign and was sent to what seems to be their actual location, underneath the Williamsburg bridge. could not get so much as an apology from the owner(?), Richard, who told me it was my fault for not calling to say I would be late. am skeptical as to whether anyone was ever at the designated location. will never go back. more

unscrupulous and physically aggressive. I went here to simply have NYS inspection and photo inspection for insurance and instead was verbally attacked and threatened. Arriving at 8:45 am, I was told I had to wait 15 to 20 minutes for inspection. No problem. While going over details with the man (owner) at counter I asked about getting my new plates put on the car during inspection. He barely looked up from his desk and told me he'd charge me $20. I said, $20 dollars?!? That's a lot for 4 screws. He told me they make no money doing inspections and inspection was really a waste of time for them. I went outside to wait. While waiting, I saw a blue collar working crew on the street and asked them for a screwdriver. After all, I had 20 minutes to kill. The worker offered to change the plate for me. A few seconds into the job the garage owner came out SCREAMING at the nice man who was helping me. He said, ""You are taking money out of my pocket!"" Then, turned to me, as I was about to tell him that I'd give him the $20, and SCREAMED at me to get off his driveway and he'd never inspect my car. At this point, I had no license plates on my car - how could I drive away? At the same time, the supervisor of the blue collar worker came by, and calmed down the situation, telling the owner the men were just trying to be nice. The supervisor then saw I had no plates and told me to pull into the street and they would finish the job and put on the plates for me. While we were on the street, he continued to yell at the men helping me and screamed at me, he wouldn't speak to me. (I guess he'd only yell) The owner of the garage who tried to price gauge me then berated me is a slick haired, tight shirt wearing, over-the-hill muscle man. I wouldn't trust him with my car or auto body repairs in a million years. more

I took my car to MAC for repair after a fender bender. I've read a lot of the reviews and I'm not saying they aren't correct, but I really had a pleasant experience. Richard worked with my insurance company, and my car looks beautiful. I was out of town when my car was ready and explained to Richard that I was in a pickle. Instead of charging me for storage (as the policy indicates) he let me keep it in a garage, free of charge, something he certainly did not need to do. He pointed out that I needed new tires, and he was right. I was told soon after that my tires were not going to pass inspection. My insurance payed for my repairs, so I don't know about pricing, but comparative shopping is really the consumers duty. All and all, I would recommend MAC. more

Every one I have had contact with at Manhattan Auto Care, has been extremely helpful, reasonable, attentive, reliable, courteous and effective, especially Richard, Sam and Sequoina. I have been in need of car repair/body work several times in the past few years and after my first experience at Manhattan Auto Care, I made it a point to hold onto their contact info, knowing that I would return. I could count on a workable, satisfying process and result. I highly recommend going to Manhattan Auto Care when your car needs super professional care!!! more

I love this place and even though my vehicle was totaled the owner and staff gave me a sense of security dealing with them. They were very accommodating picking my vehicle up from another shop located way out in Bklyn. I found the staff to be thoughful and the owner Rich was very hands on. He took the time to speak with me concerning my vehicle on several occassions no matter what time I called and he explained everything to me. When I get another vehicle and need service I will definitely bring it to Manhattan Auto Care. I will recommend this shop to any and everyone who will listen. more

I was recommended by my Insurance company USAA to get my work done here. I am a busy person and they were able to accommodate my repair. They picked up my vehicle from my parking garage. All though the repairs were halted by the weather and lateness of the parts deliver (out of anyone control) They returned it to my garage and even gave me a complimentary detail. My car looked fantastic, better before the accident. They are very new age, all my paperwork was sent through email which is perfect and fast. This was a very stress free process. The assistants are very attentive with updates every other day. If I ever need work done to my car I would go straight to them!! more

Terrible service, stay away. After accident, they fixed the car body but did not notice other parts of the car that were damaged. The work also took three to four weeks longer than promised. In the interim, I had to rent a car which they told me they would pay for. When asked for reimbursement, they danced around the issue and would not provide an answer. Ultimately, they never paid. This shop lies to their customers and should be avoided. more

Please do not use this body shop if you want professional courteous service. This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen. The so-called owner, Richard, is the most rude, obnoxious, and disrespectful person I have ever met. I never actually even made it inside the shop as his rudeness stopped me in my tracks from the outside. My insurance company USAA recommended this shop for some body work that I needed due to being rear-ended in a car accident, and so the night before I tried to research the company by reading some of the reviews to get an idea about their service. Just about every review on this company was bad and mistakenly I went for service anyway. But now I totally understand what all the reviews meant. What can u say about a con artist i went in a year ago to have my front breaks fixed and this knuckle head did the back breaks when i said fix it he tryed to charge me for both, I meant to write this a year ago I know some time has passed but i felt obligated to warn the public these guys are crooks with capital C read all the passages on this site the bad ones tell the truth the good ones are more likly written by friends. First to start off ths guy is a pervert he was so busy trying to pick me up I felt uncomfterble every time I was in his shop all he did was stare at me breast second he did a lousy job my front end feels worse now then when I bought it in don't I repeat DON""T COME TO THIS SHOP. and if your a women bring a gun. What a terrible experience. I was ""sweet talked"" by the nice Harley and after the work began he did a Jeckyl & Hyde. The repair was mediocre at best. Either they used used parts or ""not"" original parts. You can see by the quality (LACK OF). Pros: I haven't thought of one yet Cons: Harley, He's a Pro at being a Con! more

These guys screwed up a simple quarte panel repaire job the paint did not match the rest of my car it was more than a little off. I had to go else where to have it done right and he is way to expensive go somwhere else. This guy Richie is a real bum Cons: they just stink more
