Looking Glass Photo & Camera 9/8/2005

This place has almost all of your photography needs located on Telegraph in Berkeley. I used to purchase my Black and White darkroom supplies here up until I started using digital formats. I was always happy with the on stock merchandise and superb customer service they offered here. The staff are very knowledgeable and will help you and answer any quesitions you have. You can also rent supplies from here. They offer lenses and lighting equipment for rent at reasnobale prices. It does get busy here thought because its close to UCB and the students there know about the reputation this place has. more

look into it 8/21/2005

Looking glass photo is much more than just your average photo shop. It’s much more unique and personal than “Wolf” (or “Ritz” for you Midwesterners like me). They stock all your black and white darkroom products, as well as digital gear too. They’ve also got a host of refrigerators full of color films and papers. My friend also mentioned that they rent out darkroom space for a fairly reasonable price. Sounds pretty good to me. more

BEST service camera store/photo developing 7/28/2005

The Looking Glass is a Berkeley institution. Avid photographers work behind the counter and are available to answer questions about everything from equipment to developing to film to technique and classes. The store sells camera, accessories, film, albums. It has a full range of developing services from custom labs to ordinary processing centers. Some services overnight, while other take longer. This is a one-stop shop for all your photographic needs. They have a mailing list and offer photography workshops as well as a darkroom (pay by the hour.) more

Point and Shoot (And Say Cheese) 6/16/2005

A gem in the rough. Great little place to meet most of your photographic needs. They sell all sorts of supplies and equipment for a novice or an advanced photographer. The place even has a dark room available for rent for those that prefer to do their own printing. Phenomenal film selections, including Maco's Infrared for medium format. And a wonderful source for printing paper too. The help is...how shall I put it? Unmotivated. Maybe their friendlier when you're a regular, I don't know. And, not all the time either. I've been in there other times and depending on the person, I can get a lot of information without a struggle. It's a candy store for photographers. Parking is metered. more
