The front staff was professional and timely for my appointment. Questions I had were thoroughly explained with care. Classy and elegant place. more

Great Experience! 11/29/2012

Was a pleasant experience. I' used to be terrified of the dentist, however being a patient at La Jolla Dental Group has chained that. Dr. Kajian is gentle, informative throughout the process, and comforting throughout the whole procedure. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/22/2012

Everyone was great. Thank you for moving me up to be with my daughter instead of me waiting till 12:30 to be seen. Gabby was happy that all wet well- she is not a big dentist person. Thanks for doing her filling right away. Keep up the great work. :) more

The cleaning was well done. I was ready to fall asleep. The x-rays & exam were well done and the service was great. more

Dr. Kajian is Gentle, Quality Dentist! 2/22/2011

I've been a patient at La Jolla Dental Group for many years and for many reasons. Although I've read many complaints about the staff and the waiting time, I've yet to come across a response regarding the actual doctors. more

horrible!! 1/13/2011

avoid this office all together. I wish I had read all the reviews before going there. we were referred to Dr. Pichak Kelk by our insurance since we don't get to pick the specialist. we were told to be there half an hour earlier to fill out some paper work and so we did. first thing they asked for a copy of our x-ray and she asked me to go pick it up from my general dentist office. I went and got it since it was only a block away. then we sat there for 2 HOURS and we left without having our consultation with the doctor because she was in the middle of a surgery and she was not able to come talk to us. The funny thing is that after waiting for 45 minutes I asked the front desk and they didn't even bother explaining why there is a delay and I had to ask three people who were randomly walking by the front desk to get an answer and they didn't even apologize for the fact that its their fault not us! after 2 hours we decided to leave because they weren't even telling us how much more we had to wait and they told us she only see's new patients in between her surgeries ..I'm not sure what kind of surgery she was doing but I sure saw her coming to the front desk and chat with her staff at least twice...well then don't give an appointment to a new patient at all....I don't think she will be getting any new patients anyway!!!!! its a shame that there are dentists out there like her with an office and many staff who don't even care about patients and don't have a right manner to deal with patients. more

I Will Never Go There Again--Even if you paid me! 12/17/2010

I too give this place 0 stars. I wish I had read all these reviews before going there. Took my whole family there on the same day and it was horrible. Stuck us in a little room the size of a small closet to do x-rays and everyone that came in to office could see us. I also think they are scammers. Wouldn't give me a digital copy of my x-rays because they didnt know how to do it...wanted to charge me $50 per person even though it would take them a minute to email, burn to cdrom, or usb drive. A lot of other issues that I dont even want to get into, but Renee and the staff there have no customer service skills and are arrogant and think they know it all. Renee, office manager has issues and is so incredibly rude...she hung up on me too. I have already reported them to CDA, and my Dental Insurance company. Plan to report them to BBB and anywhere else possible. more

****DO NOT GO HERE***** (FROM AN INSIDER) 3/23/2010

I have worked in the dental industry for 13 years. I didn't have much choice at the time and went to these guys. I had to go in 3 times for the doc to fix the SAME CAVITIES because he did a terrible job. He even knew I worked in this industry and STILL tried to challenge me about how he did a good job. Pros: I just don't see any Cons: Many more

Stay away from this place 9/2/2009

Everyone in this office is very stuck up and rude. I had to wait 30 min after my appointment to even see someone then another 15 min before a Dr came and saw me. I had to break a couple of appointments cause I couldn't get out of work and Rene the Manager called me yelling at me when I told her I changed dentists cause they are open Saturday's she flipped out on me saying she was charging me $90.00 for 2 missed appts then hung up on me. They completely overcharge on everything. Also saying that I needed a root canal and deep cleaning on both sides and were gonna charge me a couple thousand dollars for the work with insurance. Yvonne the receptionist and the guy who did my X rays were the only ones that were nice to me. You really need to get your head examined if you decide you still want to go to this place. Cons: Everyone in this office is rude more

A real review 5/19/2009

Ok, heres a real review from a real patient... There are definitely a lot of fake reviews here coming from both sides. One thing I notice about this place is that the people who work here smile alot and seem to genuinely care for each other. Yes, the receptionists are informal. Everyone here is 'mijo' or 'mija', which means 'dear' in spanish. Evaughn (sp?) is awesome, and will go through step by step with you what she has been told you 'need'. The owner, Dr Kajian, is really smart but seems kinda hurried sometimes, and sometimes you do wonder if some of the procedures she says you 'need' are really necessary. Dr. Yavari is an excellent dentist, really sweet, and makes an effort to provide the best care despite having to help multiple patients at the same time. I trust her. If I could offer one piece of advice to the practice, it would be to stop over-extending the dentists/hygenists. I think the owner is trying to pack too many patients into one day, but this results in consistent patient delays. Also would help her to consider what is really really necessary. Demanding her hygenists/dentists try to pitch $65 oral cancer diagnostics not covered by insurance for patients under thirty kinda diminishes her credibility. In short, I recommend La Jolla Dental. I have recommended it to my friends in the past and will continue to. The care is good if you can stand the wait, and the people there are awesome. But just like any purchase, do your research before signing anything. Pros: friendly people, considerate care (with right dentist) Cons: can seem pushy, definitely will wait a while more

Stay Away From This Dental Office 5/12/2009

I give this office zero stars. The staff in not friendly at all. If you go in for a regular cleaning, be prepared to spend at least 30-45 minutes in the waiting area, and another 15 minutes on the dental chair before the doctor will see you. Be careful 'cause, more than likely, they will tell you that you need a root canal and a crown - at the least. Make sure you get a detailed break-down and how much it's going to cost before agreeing to having any dental work done or signing anything. If you have dental insurance, you will end up paying more than what the office is contractually obligated to charge the patient; and they will hold you responsible for the difference. Didi is the rudest person in that office, she has a condescending attitude, which is spreading like cancer to the rest of the employees there. Anyone experiencing unethical treatment from this office should report them to your HMO or PPO insurance, B B B,and the Dental Board of California. Someone needs to put a stop their unethical business practice. We need to speak up are report businesses who take advantage of people. more

Dentist botched my fillings 10/25/2008

I went to see Dr. Mansoureh Yavari at this office to get two fillings. After I got my fillings, I noticed that they were too high because my bite felt lopsided. This escaped Dr. Yavari's notice when she did my fillings so I had to come back a second time to get the fillings adjusted lower. Afterwards, the height of the fillings felt fine but I started to experience frequent aching in my gums that would last for hours on end accompanied by profuse bleeding. Initially, I thought this pain was normal and would go away eventually but it persisted for over a month and a half. My fillings and gums were so sensitive that the slightest contact with them from just brushing my teeth or eating would trigger pain that would last for the rest of the day. more

Worst customer service anywhere, just interested in money 5/20/2008

Avoid this place at all cost! It took me almost a month to finally be able to make an appointment, since they said that the insurance compan y had to send them my info. When the insurance company said they had already sent everything a week earlier they said that the girl in charge of faxes was having a snack so they couldn't tell me if they had received the info. They gave me an appointment in almost 2 months. The receptionists were very rude, on the phone and even worse in person. As soon as a dentist? saw me she said I needed to have a root canal right away bec. I was going to lose the tooth (I had been to my old dentist 2 weeks before that and he had said there was no rush). I had to ""pray"" for them to give me an estiumate of how much a crown was going to be and after waiting for half an hour they gave me the estimate... exactly the same price as my other dentist without insurance. And they don't let you pay half and half, reason that convinced me to have the crown done by my other dentist (who I trust a lot!). They also said that I have 2 cavities which my dentist, who saw me today, said I have no cavity. They called me a thousand times asking me to make an appointment with them. Cons: rude receptionists, dirty office, only interested in making money, etc. more

Great Dental Office 2/24/2008

This dental office is professional, kind, compassionate. Was seen at my scheduled time and the procedure (cleaning) was very basic and easy. Althought the hygenist performed the cleaning, the dentist had remembered me from my new patient exam and knew I was coming in for a cleaning and had gone out of her way to come and say hello to me. I appreciated it and find comfort at this dental office. Highly recommended. Pros: Great ambience, kind staff more

Highly Professional Office 2/16/2008

I am terrified of the dentist. When I visited LaJolla Dental Group, the entire staff was extremely compassionate, put me at ease and reduced my stress. The doctor went out of the way to be gentle, did a great job pulling my wisdom tooth (a very painful procedure) and the whole experience was clean, professional and pleasant. I would highly recommend this office. Pros: Caring Compassionate staff, excellent dental service more

Avoid at all cost!!!!! 1/31/2008

Receptionist was exceptionally nice over the phone but as soon as you get in there, wow, super aggressive, mean and condescending. I was brought in right away, put in a chair but had to wait, I kid you not, a full hour before anyone saw me?. And when they did it was for a quick 10 minutes. I was examined by a woman who didn't even introduce herself and she scares me into believing that I needed a $65 oral cancer screening which consisted of gargling vinegar for a minute and followed up by a quick glance in the mouth with a black light then informed I was fine. Total scam people!!!! As soon as you walk into the office you are handed a pamphlet about oral cancer while you watch a horrible movie about people dieing from it. Now that the exam is over I don?t get a cleaning but instead I?m told I need to schedule three appointments for deep cleaning when 6 months ago I just had one. I decided that there was something definitely wrong with this place so I tell the receptionist that I?m going to another dentist and that I need my x-rays, which I personally brought in by the way, and I?m told it will cost me $50 to have them. Now I?m in the lobby and I hear the secretary telling clients what dental procedures they needed to have done like she is the expert, hello, you are a secretary and you aren?t qualified to do that. Before I even have a chance to leave I hear a dental hygienist telling a client, who wanted to change their appointment ,that she had to drive up from Mexico for that appointment and that they had better not change it. Meanwhile another man comes in raging mad about how he had been wronged by these people. How are these people still in business I will never know but beware folks!!!!! Pros: There are no pros about this place Cons: big time scam and very unprofessional more

Considerate and Helpful 7/22/2007

I had called La Jolla Dental Group to make an appointment for my children and I with the receptionist. Once the receptionist made an appointment for my children and I around the same time at my convenience. She was then kind and considerate enough to offer to fax over the paper work before I came in so I wouldn't have to be sitting in the waiting room with my children running around. Once I arrived to the office, receptionist saw I had children and put in the film ""Finding Nemo"" while we waited for the dentist to see us. Once the dentist had arrived she was extremely friendly to both my children and I. As we checked out, the receptionist gave my children a few stickers each. This is a great office that understands the value of family and children. Highly reccomended. Pros: Friendly, Helpful, Considerate more

DO NOT GO TO LA JOLLA DENTAL GROUP. OFFICE OLD AND DIRTY, STAFF RUDE AND CONDASCENDING 5/25/2007

DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. RECEPTIONIST IS NICE ON THE PHONE BUT ONCE YOU GET THERE IT IS ANOTHER STORY. SHE WAS CONDASCENDING AND RUDE. TRIED TO HAVE ME MAKE DECISIONS QUICKLY AND WHEN I CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT A FOLLOW UP APPT IT WAS LIKE THE WORLD HAD ENDED. THE OFFICE IS DISORDERLY AND APPEARS DIRTY. WHEN I WALKED IN IT FELT LIKE I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL WITH TWO MALE STAFF MEMBERS STARING AND WHISPERING ABOUT ME. I WAS EXAMINED FOR A WISDOM TOOTH THAT WAS BOTHERING ME. THE DENTIST LET ME KNOW THAT HE FELT MORE COMFORTABLE WITH AN ORAL SURGEON PERFORMING THE EXTRACTION. THE RECEPTIONIST ON THE OTHER HAND TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE NO PROBLEM FOR A DENTIST WHO WAS COMING BACK ON VACATION TO DO IT RATHER THAN GOING TO A SURGEON. I DID NOT KNOW THAT SHE COULD MAKE SUCH A DECISION... HUH. I THEN ASKED HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST FOR ME TO HAVE IT EXTRACTED HERE AND SHE TOLD ME $50 WITH MY INSURANCE AND OH.... LOOKS LIKE I MIGHT REQUIRE A BONE GRAFT... THATS ANOTHER $423. INTERESTING. more

Worst Most Fradulent Service We've Ever Recieved. 4/18/2007

My girlfriend went in there for fillings, they mis lead her into believing she was getting filling for her front teeth in white, which is covered fully by insurance. They told her the teeth numbers, and that she would have to pay. They did not offer a chart with which tooth corresponded with which number, so she assumed, since the appt. was for her front teeth, that that's what was being done, and that she was mistaken about her policy, but they ACTUALLY (without any direct notification) filled her rear teeth. We wrote a letter of complaint that they fradulently had us pay for something we thought we were getting. They have had three weeks, no response. I called back and the manager, Renee, actually HUNG UP ON ME. Granted I apparantly have no right (Hippa law or something) to talk about my girlfriend's problem, but she offered me NOTHING. more

Avoid La Jolla Dental Group 4/6/2007

First, they canceled my appointment on the day of and then when I wanted to reschedule they were very rude, as if I was inconveniencing them. This is a horrible office. The receptionists are condescending and very rude. I'm not sure why anyone continues to go here.. Pros: Location? Cons: The office staff is the main problem. more
