Go somewhere else! Worst haircut of my life. I used Kisma for over three years, then owners changed, my stylist left, and the new ""master"" stylist did a hack job on my hair. The salon I went to to have this fixed asked me who did it to me, and after 6 months of growing my hair, it will be another few months until the damage is corrected. \r \r Just to be clear, only one side of my hair was layered, it had been hacked to pieces in what I'm guessing was an attempt to texture my hair, and despite my asking for the length to be left, I ended up with 2.5 inch layers in the back from a one length shoulder length previous cut. I had uneven blending, a cut above my natural hairline, and uneven sides. more

I bring my son for massages and to have a slightly new product applied called Spider Tech tape. Stephen has been applying this tape to my son's hamstrings for the last month. It has helped him return to the field faster than we expected!! Stephen's vast knowledge of the product and his very well given massages have done wonders for my son! To add to his knowledge his customer service is very good and it's as if you have known him all your life. Kisma as whole is very good place to visit although I haven't had my hair cut there, if they hire employees like Stephen you can't go wrong spending your money here. more

I have been going to Teresita for about a year. I love her work. I always leave happy, my hair has never looked so good. I always receive compliments. Teresita makes sure you get exactly what you wanted, she cares if you are happy with the work. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great stylist! more

This is the question I pondered after saying yes to a chair massage from Stephen. I had gotten a full hour from him before, but allowed too much time to pass since. He's extremely professional, while being attentive and intuitive to your needs. The experience is a soothing one, that relaxes and gets to the root of your tension--the aches you feel, and the ones you're oblivious to (cause we all carry them). Even if you feel a massage is only in the luxury budget, give yourself a well-deserved massage from Stephen, even if it's just a quicker chair. I guarantee you'll find your way back in for another! more

I love going to Teresita for haircuts! She is fun to talk to and a great hair stylist. She really listens to your concerns and is very skilled. I used to see Mario there before but never really liked him. I don't think he's there anymore anyways. Overall Kisma is a great salon! more

Just stopped in to the salon to see if I could relax and try a shampoo/style and received even more! I had never met Nicole and she gave me the ""Best Ever"" scalp massage with shampoo/style! I needed pampering after a long Thanksgiving week and she took me to another place...my hair looked amazing and I felt amazing! I will definitely treat myself again...especially with the holidays and parties coming up! Thanks Nicole!!! more

If you are looking for a salon that makes you look and feel like a million bucks then you have to make an appointment with the Kisma team. Owner Anet and the entire Kisma staff set the standard for professionalism client service and incredible work. I always look forward to my appointments at Kisma. From the minute I walk in the front door I immediately start to relax and look forward to my services for the day. A big part of this feeling comes from knowing that my haircut or spa service will be amazing and I will walk out feeling like a rockstar. If you really want to relax, make sure you request Jordan for a scalp massage. You don't know what you are missing until she starts this incredible massage. Jordan found tension that I didn't even know I had! I am a girl that won't miss a mani so I also recommend while you are getting your haircut and color, get in to see the manicure ladies. I walked in not knowing how I wanted to do my hair. Teresita was extremely helpful and knows what she's doing. She cuts and colors my hair and it comes out stunning every time. If you don't know a thing about hair (like me), she's your go-to-hair stylist! more

This salon has been my home and family for the past 3 years. I recall the first time ever stepping foot into their door. Never once had I ever considered or even thought that there were salons out there using all natural products such as Aveda. The earthy smell of the products alone were enough to get me hooked. Before deciding Kisma was my new home, I used to go several different places to get my hair cut, my nails, and waxing done. I used to dye my own hair or have a friend help, and only in very rare occasions did I ever trust a salon with my highlights or dye. Kisma soon became the one stop shop for it all. The music is always very soothing and calm. Their lighting is just right in the salon to ensure your hair is safe in all angles for whatever cut you may need. The floor is always well maintained, the seats comfortable, and I love how every time I come in there is a complimentary make-up touch up or some sort of scalp/hand massage. They have relaxation down to a tee (just ask Stephen or Geri). Kristy, my first stylist, was the first since I was 14 to convince me to try blond highlights. They came out flawless needless to say. Teresita is who you want to see if you're looking for something adventurous or someone who knows just what's right for your hair/occasion. Justin is amazing with color! No really! Simply awesome. Danielle is very compassionate not only with your hair, but when you also need someone to listen. Cecilia is wonderful if you are still feeling a bit shy with your hair or feel a bit modest. Tammy, my most recent visit, I had never sat in her chair before, told her what I wanted, and nailed it. I mean nailed it; it was perfect! Everyone always tend to pick their favorite hair stylist that at times they can be worried to venture or stray away if they are out of the salon when you need them. It's not really necessary to be worried at all here. I've seen some come and go from Kisma and tried a few different stylists. Never have I ever been unhappy or needed to return to 'fix' my hair. When you decide to make the trip, make sure whoever's seat that you wind up in that you take a few of their cards with you. I'm stopped by friends, co-workers, and even sometimes people on the street/at the store/everywhere for hair compliments. more

I've been going to Kisma for quite sometime and all I have to say is it's a great place the staff are very nice and always have a smile. Also I've been going to Kristy for my hair needs and she always makes me look good. I think a hairstylist should be like an artist and the client should be the canvas but I usually give her a general idea and she goes with it. Kristy makes me feel great after every time I get my hair done. I would defiantly recommend her to anyone who wants to look and feel awesome. I've also been getting facials by Dey and she is awesome too. After a hard work week she relaxes me with a nice facial. I would recommend her to anyon e who wants an awesome facial. I took my mom there last week and she can't stop talking great things about this place. My mom is a very particular woman who usually is unable to express what she wants, just more of what she doesn't like. Teresita was able to nail it and left her with only smiles. I took her to see Teresita to get a cut and dye. I didn't stay around while the process was taking place, but from her words, she loved Teresita. Attention was given to detail, the cut was done as she imagined and she couldn't be happier with the color. Highly recommended for the for anyone looking for some extra creativity along with a lot of care into the process. more

I don't even live in Austin, but I drive there every 6 weeks just to get my hair cut and highlighted. The salon is great and Teresita is a delight. She always knows exactly how to cut my hair. It's always the exactly length and the layers that I want, I don't even have to tell her. As for the highlights, she recommends the most beautiful colors for my hair and I am always getting compliments on how vibrant the color is. I always have to tell people that my hair stylist is out of town since they always want to know where they can go. And lastly, the prices are so reasonable. Plus, I can get all the products for my hair in one convenient location. \r I would recommend this salon to anyone!!!! more

It brought tears to my eyes to find out that Mario (only the best stylist/ hair artist ever) was no longer employed with Kisma, after a recent walk in visit. And, to top my afternoon off, the staff of Kisma were not too inclined to give me any information on his current career status. Infact I thought it was down right rude. What an embarrassment this must be for the staff of Kisma, not to mention how much hard work he put in there throughout several dedicated years of employment. But there is still hope, I can still keep up my perfect ""Jennifer Aniston"" haircut! Thats what I call it, and for those of you who dont know, its getting a perfect new style, while keeping all my length! He is the only one who can do this, I swear by him. Thank you Mario! I have been going to Mario Gonzales for over 10 yrs. I'm sorry to say he has left Kisma hair salon. He has been the best hair stylist I've ever had. I always get compliments from strangers and patients(I'm a physician) who want his card. But I found him again! He has landed at Saks Fifth Ave.(231-3725) My hair is being well cared for again! more

Mario has done my hair for over 10 years now maybe even closer to 15. I was shocked when I called Kisma recently to make an appointment with Mario Gonzales. They told me he was no longer there and didn't know where Mario had moved to. Luckily, I have his mobile number. After speaking to Mario, he told me where he landed and he did metion that he was suprised that the owner didn't instruct her staff to give Mario's new location and info. to anyone who called Kisma, after telling Mario she would. Well they didn't and they won't. Mario and the owner have been friends for so long. It's so disappointing how greed changes people. Mario help the owner build that business and it makes me sad that the owner feels the need to be dishonest with Mario's book of business. So here is the deal.... I found him. Where to begin?!? Excellent customer service is rare, and when I find it, I want to tell everyone. I was a brand new client, so I was nervous. After three years of unpleasant salon experiences in Austin, I had truly given up hope. Justin listened, shared his thoughts and ideas, and offered the perfect mix of professionalism and kindness. As I waited for my hair to process, I received a complimentary hand massage, introductions from the esthetician and the massage therapist, as well as a tranquil spa environment. It was so relaxing and zen. When my hair was finished, I felt great!! Justin helped me select some products to tame my mane and I immediately scheduled another appointment with him. The manager introduced herself to me and even followed up with me via e-mail to ask about my visit. I have found a wonderful salon and spa as well as a talented stylist. Do yourself a big favor and call them today!!!! more

Austin is a tough place to find a great stylist who knows their stuff but also charges reasonable rates. I tried Kisma due to their reviews and made an appt. with Tammy for cut and highlights. She is great to work with. Knowledgeable and honest. I really felt comfortable telling her my opinions on past cuts and colors and she must have been listening because both came out terrific. The price is reasonable, especially for an Aveda salon. The salon appears to have a rather large, diverse staff that were busy from the time I got there until I left! That says a lot for any salon in my opinion. more

Up until Mary, I was scared to get my hair done by another professional after experiencing SEVERAL hair nightmares in my past. I was BLOWN AWAY by her skill and pure talent. Stephen gives excellent massages at a great price. My back had been bothering me for weeks and I was hesitant to get a massage I had never had one before.
