I have been going to Teresita at Kisma for over 6 months now and she is great! She does my cuts and highlights and does an excellent job. I hardly have to give her any direction, she knows my hair very well and I look great when I leave there. She also gives me great advice on products, styling techniques and hair care that I had never heard from anyone else. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She always has a huge smile on her face, I highly recommend her for all of your hair needs. Also, Kisma offers a discount if you pre-book your appts which is really cool! I am terrible at describing hair styles and hair cuts. I know how to describe my hair in terms of maintainance (extremely low) and feel (professional but edgy OR short but really feminine OR whatever strikes my mood) - but I have absolutely no idea what that means in terms of specific haircuts. That's why I am so glad that I have found Raquel. She can turn these really vague suggestions into really great haircuts. And she's so skilled that the haircuts look great long after they have grown out. She is worth every penny. Awhile back, I used to have my head shaved and I loved it - so cheap, easy, and hot temperature friendly. I have been going to Kisma for over 2 years and it is an awesome salon. Raquel is a god with hair color. I can't begin to say how wonderful she is. I was incredibly lucky to find her. Mario is just as great with hair as Raquel. The spa services are very nice and luxurious. This salon is not pretentious. If you have a snotty attitude, don't bring it here. more

Mario is a master with hair. He is able to turn your hair from drab to fab! He is friendly and very professional, and knows what color looks good on you. Mario is also very accomadating. I booked a haircut and color, but soon realized that i also needed highlights. He was able to work in my highlights which I was VERY thankful for. He also is able to work with the properties of your hair (mine is very straight and fine) and is able to make it look it's best. I walked in to the salon with a hat on (because my roots had grown out, and my hair was limp) and walked out with full, swingy, blond highlighted hair. Trust your hair to him! more

I first went to see Michelle to fix the color another stylist did. She was fantastic! I walked in looking like a banana head and walked out with gorgeous color and great cut! Michelle has been doing my hair ever since! She is always honest about what will look good on me and I am never disappointed with my hair! The color is always amazing and the cuts are perfect! Plus, she is so much fun! My mother even tries to schedule her out of state visits around her haircuts because she LOVES going to see Michelle! Madelyn's facials are incredible! I've had numerous facials in my life and she is by far the best! She is extremely knowledgeable on skin care and knows what needs to be done to your particlar skin type to make it look its best. She uses only natural products and incorporates a mini-massage on your arms, hands and feet in with her facials!!! Not only do you leave there with glowing skin but you're extremely relaxed. She really loves what she does and it shows because she takes a personal interest in making your skin look fantastic. Like Madelyn, Kisma salon has an incredible staff that go above and beyond to make sure you leave with a smile on your face and feeling beautiful. The people are wonderful, fun and EXTREMELY TALENTED!! I would recommend Kisma to anyone!\r \r more

Awesome! The whole salon has an air of class and comfort to it. The receptionist was very nice and personable, but I cannot say enough about Lance! ! I went in pretty demoralized, about my gray and the dryness of my hair. I left there feeling like a new woman. He was really, really super at color matching my high and low lights, and did a great job giving me the cut I wanted, along with offering his professional but honest, personal opinion! I really appreciated the fact he did not push services I didn't necessarily need, nor products. I did get the new Aveda Dry Remedy shampoo and conditioner, and my hair feels 100 times better...soft and silky, (highly recommend it)! Lance is a great guy...and he gave me more than a new look, he gave me a lot to think about toward a new 'out'look on some things in life! Lance is an EXPERT at his craft.\r \r When I relocated to Austin a few years ago to attend UT, I walked into a hair salon on the drag for a haircut. That's where I met Lance. Shortly after, he left that salon not to be seen for a long time. At the time, I was not concern because the next hairdresser to cut my was very good as well. When she decided to move out of town, I asked her if she knew anyone who could take over. I had forgot about Lance. She didn't! She told me about this guy she used to work with at the salon on the drag and how good he was with my type of hair (thick & coarse). She tried to find him through people in the industry, needless to say, no luck. All she could tell me was that his name was Lance. Still didn't ring a bell to me.\r \r She moved and I was on the hunt for someone to cut my hair. I tried everyone that was expensive and no luck. I was so desperate that I thought I should try anything including Super Cuts. I walked in tried to get a haircut only to be told it would be at lease 45 minutes before they could get me in. I agreed to wait and went out to get a soft drink while I waited. I past Kisma. I thought to my self, check to see if they have an opening. They did.\r \r Lance took in walk ins' and agreed to cut my hair. I hadn't put two and two together but Lance remembered me from our meeting on the drag and reminded me. To my surprise and relief of finding someone to cut my hair, I am so glad to have cross his path again because he is really the best Men's hair cutter, stylist or dresser. \r \r I have not had a bad hair cut EVER from Lance and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to ALL Men out there. He really knows how to work with what ever type of hair you have. He is innovative and keeps up with the times. You will not leave disappointed. It is nice to have someone who really cares about their craft and makes your visit to Kisma a pleasant one. \r \r He really is excellent. more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful my experience at Kisma was. I have been to many spas all over the US and this was by far one of the best. I was greeted at the door by a friendly staff and offered refreshments (water, wine, etc) before being whisked away to begin the spa package that Anet helped me book. I just have to say that Anet rocks!!! Even though Kisma has a hair salon and spa they are separated just enough that the salon does not intrude on the peaceful atmosphere of the spa. Steve gave me the best hot stone massage I have ever had hands down. He was extremely attentive to my specific requests (I have back issues), professional while being warm and friendly and very very good at what he does. I also got the rosemary mint body wrap and the only thing I can say is that my entire body is as smooth as a baby's bottom. After all that they ordered me lunch and then I went off to my pedicure. I hate to admit it but I can't remember the name of the woman that gave me my pedicure (I am so bad at remembering names most of the time) but she was fantastic. She took her time and I didn't feel rushed at all. The manicure and pedicure rooms are separate private rooms in the spa. I really enjoy the separation of all the rooms at the spa. It eliminates all the gawking by the other patrons having their services done or waiting for their turn (I am completely guilty of this myself of course). Upon checking out, did I mention how reasonable their prices were, I have already made my next appointment. I left feeling 100% pampered and can't wait to go back. Kisma is a wonderful salon - very friendly, professional & spa-like. They are serious about treating you well. The decor is lovely & the staff has a very low turn-over rate, and, as a result, know you on sight after a few visits.\r \r Having said that, let me mostly highly recommend my hair GOD, Lance McCollum. He is a professional in every sense of the word. He and I worked together over the course of a couple of visits to find the PERFECT hair color for me! I could not be more pleased. Go figure, a stylist/colorist with no agenda other than your satisfaction! Seriously, I went in with this criteria : Find a color that matches & enhances what I have without having a major ""growth line"". He worked on it till we found the perfect combination of highlights & color in a demi-permanent shade that helps eliminate the growth line issue (as much as possible with gray!). Lance always offers new techniques & style options (he's always doing some new training), but does not force the issue and is ALL about sending you out the door gorgeous with a cut & style you can maintain at home. Add to that the fact that he's intelligent & well spoken & you've got a great salon experience. more

I've been going to Mario for over 8 years now and have never had a bad experience or bad haircut. I first went to Mario wanting a new look that would take me from drab, young looking college graduate to sophisticated and successful working professional. I got just what I wanted! I walked out looking more my age (rather then looking much younger then I was) and even noticed I was taken a lot more seriously in my job. Who knew a haircut could do all of that! Mario is very professional and is always on time and gives you 100%. We've tried many different styles over the years - long, short, straight, curly - and no matter what, Mario gives me an honest opinion of what I'm asking for and works with me to give me a style that will compliment my look and the amount of time I want to spend getting ready in the morning. He always steers me in the right direction! I highly recommend Mario...and I promise he will keep you entertained and looking HOT! Raquel was my hair dresser back in the days (late 90's that is), and when she moved to Tennessee it was very, very hard for me to find a new hairdresser. When I found out Raquel was back in the Austin area I did not think about it twice to go back to her. Not only does she listens to what you want but she also makes sure that you are not going to do something that you might regret later. I have always gotten great haircuts and color from her. That is why I would not think of going anywhere else. I have been searching for a colorist but always hesitant to try someone new. After much research, I decided to go with Mario because of all the great reviews. I showed Mario a picture of what I wanted for both color and cut. I chi-ironed my hair before I came in so he knew I wanted it smooth. We discussed what would be best for my hair. I wanted a multi-tone color. I already had old color (I did myself) on it that was half way grown out. Mario suggested we do a partial (instead of a full) so we could see how color would take on new hair. He said he would try to blend new with old as best as possible but there was a chance you could see difference. I knew this going in but trusted in him. He had a challenge before him (new client, never worked on my hair, old color, curly hair, brunette). Mario was a great listener and had a wonderful way to make suggestions that showed his expertise without being pushy. He understood exactly what I wanted and knew what I needed for my hair. \r When he was finished, it was the best color job I had! You could not tell where the old color was with new color. He blended it perfectly along with the right amount of strands (his foils were perfectly neat!) and it came out beautifully. My hair was not dried or fried and he went up four shades without bleach! The wonderful multi-tone color of light and dark without it being chunky! I was thrilled!\r Mario blow-dried my hair smooth (he needed no CHI or flat iron) and I have curly hair. A true mark of a professional if stylist can blow-dry hair straight with brush and blow-dryer! I will definitely go back and already have my next appointment booked. If you are nervous about finding a new colorist or stylist, go with Mario. I've waited for 5 years to find someone and I am very happy with the amazing results! You will NOT be disappointed. Trying to find a great stylist you can completely trust can be difficult but when my friend had rave reviews about Kisma Salon, I made an appointment immediately. Paul is very talented and amazing! He was very personable and made me comfortable when I was a bit nervous for a new do. I wanted a change so he recommended a very chic stylish and up to date cut. I love it and got so many complements from family, friends and even strangers! Every time I come in for a cut, I can trust Paul completely and know I will walk out feeling great! For the almost three years that I have lived in Austin I have struggled to find someone that can cut my hair well and the way that I like it... until I found Raquel. I have found someone that listens to what I like, want, and gives her expert advice as to what else we can do and what looks good on me and my hair-type, not just the models in the magazines. It is very evident that she loves what she does by how well she cuts and styles hair. She has always been in a good humored, she is very easy to talk to, accepts any type of opinions you might have about your hair, along with giving her own opinion about what looks good, and has always stayed true to the appointment time, which is great when you have a busy day. \r \r I am, personally, stuck on Raquel and do not plan on seeing anyone else for as long as she is cutting hair and I am living in Austin. If you're looking for ""just a cut"" then go elsewhere, but if you are seeking someone that will cut, style, recommend what is best for you, and have you leaving with a smile on your face EVERYTIME, then please go see Raquel at Kisma - it is totally worth it. I have been getting my hair cut by Mario for a year or so now and the other day I decided ( 6 months post having a baby) that I wanted to go short..really short! So I walked into Kisma with a photo of a hair style that I thought I could pull off and gave it to Mario. He took one look and shook his head. He said ' I dont think your going to be happy with this, with your bone structure lets try a medium lenght pixie'. So I gave him free reign. He took my pony tail, gathered around his coworkers and cut it off...yikes!! Then he proceeded to work his magic! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the haircut. It was exactly what I wanted, chic, cute and low maintainence. I dont even have to dry it in the morning...its fabulous! He even helped me learn how to style it for those few and far between nights on the town (for my birthday he styled it himself!). Long story short, I would 100 percent recommend Mario as a hairstylist and consultant. Hes honest, proud of his work, and good at what he does and will make you look like a million dollars. Thank you Mario, now I get compliments on my hair all of the time as opposed to people asking me 'is your hair always in a pony tail??'. more

Wow, where do I start! Raquel is my stylist and she's incredible! She is such a people person to where her awesome communication skills come into play which is important, this is YOUR look and she compliments each of your features!!! She truly performs magic!
