Pros: skilled, talented, gentle, perfect result, pamper Cons: valet parking more

BEST massage by far! 1/24/2010

I have been getting massages for about 20 years, in all honesty, my massage yesterday was one of the best! I was booked with Brenda and you can tell that she really loves her job. Her technique was amazing!! Normally you know what the masseuse is going to do next and a massage can become very predictable. Brenda's massage truly optimized the 50 minutes we had and I didn't feel rushed or cheated. I will be going back!! It is worth the added expense! Pros: Personal service; Product knowledge; Unbelievable massage. Cons: Small steam and changing area more

Amazing place for facials 12/11/2009

Terry is an unbelievable facialist. It's impossible to go to anyone else - my face is absolutely clear a couple of days after going to see her. Pros: Best Facials Cons: High Prices more

Rude Management and very high prices! 5/11/2009

Our group of girls went there for a bachelorette party. It turned out to be a very awful experience for us from start to finish. One of my close friends organized the event for the girls and when she called to make an apointment she told them that we had about 10 girls and some of them (we werent sure how many of them) would be getting a mani/pedi that day. The lady working there told her that the manicure was $20 an the pedicure was $30 . When we arrrived we asked for a packet with all the prices and treatments. Turns out the pedicure for just a basic pedicure was $50! The manicure for the basic manicure was $40. Everyone was very shocked with the high prices because we were told it was less expensive beforehand, especially just for the basic one on top of that. So anyway some of the other girls decided not to go along with it because they couldnt afford that. My friend and I decided just to get the pedicure then. Turns out when we were paying the manager was very rude and told my friend that because she booked an apointment that $65 would be charged to everyone there or on my friends card. My friend told her that you never said that on the phone and the prices were a lot higher than we had expected. Turns out the manager there wasnt going to budge at all and we had to go tell the rest of the girls that they had to or their card would be charged. I was soooo shocked!! I never never had such a bad experience at a spa before in my life! Also, the pedicure I had was so basic that compared to the places I normally go to was not even as good for 1/3 of the same price. It was very ridicoulious! I just thought I would warn people here of our experience at this place before they decide to go. Pros: Nothing Cons: High price, rude manager more

Best Facial I have ever had 11/28/2008

I have been going to Kinara for the past three years because I wouldn't let anyone except Asia touch my face. She gives an amazing facial. Skilled, and professional. When I first came to her I had blotchy dry spots on my face. Through her knowledgeable assessment of my skin, wonderful touch and choice of products I no longer have dry spots. I highly recommend her. more

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CARIN KINGSLAND 11/20/2008

If you are looking for Carin Kingsland she is no longer at Kinara. She is now over at Christopher Watts Esthetics, West Hollywood. Hope to see you there! more

CARIN KINGSLAND ROCKS! 10/22/2008

Carin Kingsland at Kinara is the best facialist in LA! Carin has the magic touch. My skin is so sensitive that usually I leave facials all red and blotchy. Not so with Carin - I leave her facials with smooth and glowing skin. I know several friends who swear by her too. She is simply the greatest! more

BEST FACIAL EVER~! 10/22/2008

On a recent visit to Los Angeles - my skin broke out - and my friend recommended that I go have a facial at Kinara and make sure I get Carin Kingsland - first time I called she was booked at the time I originally wanted and I almost went to see someone else - but my friend insisted that Carin is great and that since I was in town for a while I should make it my business to go see her - so I called back and got an appointment with her later in the day. I now understand why my friend insisted I see her - after I told her what problems I was having with my skin - she analyzed my skin for herself and provided a facial that was customized for my skin type and the problems I was having. After the facial when I looked in the mirror I had NO red marks like one usually does after extractions - Carin told me she loves extractions - no joking - she did a great job - and I couldn't recommend her enough! Now anytime I am out in LA - I make sure to book my appointment. Pros: A soothing experience all around Cons: absolutely nothing more

I never usually write reviews, but........ 10/21/2008

I am 38 years old, but have always been told I look 28. I attribute that to tthe fact that I have been getting facials every month for years. I went of f the pill a few months ago and my skin went crazy. My face was covered with pimples and so oily, not to mention splotchy. I guess I am a bit vain, but I did not even want to go out and see people because I felt so self conscious. My friend recommended me to see Carin Kingsland at Kinara, she said she would help me. She did the best extractions, which is something I requested. Some facialist don't want to take the time to really extract all the impurities, but Carin did. She spent SO much time discussing the best method of treatment for my skin and the best products for my skin type. It has only been a couple of weeks and my skin is night and day. I never realized that my change in hormones would also mean a complete change in the types of products I shoud use and how I should care for my skin. Carin explained it all to me and made it easy to follow-my skin is glowing and the concealer is back in the drawer. Pros: Parking is so easy, very relaxing, friendly staff more

Best facial ever with Galina! 10/14/2008

Being Eastern European I have always been obsessed with skincare and taken really good care of my face. I have tried almost every facialist in LA, but the best facial I've ever gotten was at Kinara. Galina was amazing! She was so knowledgeable, she is like the professor of skincare. She educated me about making my daily skin routine more effective. I've followed her advice and my skin has never been better. What was was so unique about Galina's facial is the extraction. Usually when i've gotten facials the extraction has been very superficial so my skin never felt fully clean. After my typical facials I could still see dirt in my pours. But Galina was so meticulous and thorough in her extraction process that my skin glistened. If you want a super clean facial, Galina is the one for you. I've never walked out of a facial feeling so confident about my skin. It glowed! No blotchiness, not redness, nothing! I wish I could afford to see Galina every couple of weeks. My skin would love that :) The Spa is beautiful and you will feel very Zen there. Treat yourself to the best facial in town. It'll cost you, but totally worth it :) more

Best Facial 7/13/2008

Kinara gives AMAZING facials. Asia is the best. She is friendly, informative and gets your skin clean! I really enjoyed the whole experience and highly reccomend getting a treatment there. They also sell every good product on the market and don't push you to buy stuff. Again, Asia gives a great facial. Pros: Facials Cons: None more

Skin Guru 6/10/2008

CARIN IS NO LONGER AT KINARA- SHE IS NOW AT CHRISTOPHER WATTS ESTHETICS IN WEST HOLLYWOOD. I have been searching for years for a great esthetician and I have finally found her! A friend of mine recommended that I try out Kinara because I had been having major hormonal breakouts. The receptionist recommended Carin Kingsland and said that she would be perfect in helping me figure out my breakouts. She is a master with Asian (me) and Latin skin. How could I resist. Having worked at a dermatologist for 6 years and now at Kinara since they opened she definitely knows her stuff. She suggested products, changes in my diet, a detox plan, supplements and even a endocrinologist to help me sort out my hormone levels. My skin has never looked this good. CARIN ROCKS! Pros: AMAZING FACIALS, Red Carpet Facial Kit, Fabulous Boutique for gifts Cons: Front desk seemed overwhelmed during check in/out more

Best Facial anywhwere 4/1/2008

I've been to spas and spas and spas. Done series of this and that and the new next thing. But, this is the skin spa. No chirpy fake receptionists. No cheesy new age recycled music. No pink walls, no cheap scents. This place means business. It is truly upscale. My skin therapist was like an encyclopedia! I even asked her about some things that my dermatologist did not know, and she gave me good answers! Wow! Facial was 50 minutes, packed with action.: Great massage, peel, sonic peel, thorough extractions, agreeable products that were carefully placed on my skin. I felt pampered, stimulated, exfoliated, hydrated and super clean. I was sorry that I didn't book longer facial, but next time I will. I left with my skin glowing after the Red Carpet facial, my new skin care regiment and renewed enthusiasm about the true value of a great facial. A week later my skin is so soft that it makes me want to cry - for another facial at Kinara. Ten stars!!! Pros: Location, Parking, Ambiance, Skilled Esthetician, Product Selection, Cleanliness Cons: Small waiting area , Cafe closed (wanted to try the food) more

More hype than it's worth 11/10/2007

I'm pretty regular about who I see (Brigitte Tolson at Massage Therapy Center, or Kate Sommerville)- and for all the hype around the star esthetician who did my facial, and the $$- it was nothing like a very detail oriented treatment from Kate Sommerville at her clinic, and certainly nothing like the pampering and amazing peels I recieve from Brigette at Massage Therapy Center for nearly half the price. I had a gift certificate to Kinara, and I probably will not return on my own. I'm used to some deep extractions, but these left me a bit "picked at" looking, and hurt like hell!! The massage/pampering bits weren't as loving as I like. Though this star esthetician has a nice touch in general, I cannot say there was anything exceptional about this treatment. Call me finicky, but the over-thetop zen decor seems a bit contrived in the middle of West Hollywood two doors down from The Abbey--- maybe a fireplace, some warm decor, and softer lines. Overall, results should be your guide of the treatment---not the experience, and I felt like my results were pretty average. Granted, I know there is only so much to be expected from a 1 hour treatment. From the editorial research I have done on Kinara, miracles arre to be anticipated, and they pride themselves on not giving you a standard "steam and cream" facial, but my results were just like any average facial without a peel or special additonal treatment. I would not call my experience horrible by any accounts, but simply average and not up to the hype. Pros: Friendly front desk staff, close to some good gay bars Cons: Not up to hype, better facials at kate sommerville or massage therapy center more

Mediocre at best 10/17/2007

I thought a facial would be great, I'd had a good massage there before and I loved the patio cafe. Sadly, the cafe is now closed to the public, which is really unfortunate because it was probably their only strength. When I arrived, I assumed they would give me a cushy robe to change into, like when I'd had the massage there, but no (I can't even remember the last time I had a $150 facial with fewer amenities!). I waited well past my appointment time and finally was greeted by Ingrid. Although she had a nice touch in terms of facial massage, all my warnings to her about what products my skin can and cannot handle were ignored. I have never had such an uncomfortable facial, EVER. Maybe I should have been firmer with her about the peel, but couldn't she tell what type of skin I have? I'm still red and inflamed, several days later. Has this place just gone down hill or was it never very good? Pros: facial massage, ambience Cons: bad facialist, wait time, no amenities more

All hype- bad facial! 5/5/2007

I only name name's when someone does a good job. So I will say, that my facialist, who is highly respected, was nothing special. The extractions were brutal, and I had a few marks from them that lasted over a month! The facial massage was average, (not as good as Euphoria which only charges 85$!), her touch was confident, but not amazing. At one point she left the room, and for over 150$, I don't want to be left alone while I'm masque-ing. I must say I wasn't as pressured to buy products as I thought I might be, And parking was not too bad $ considering. I think the hype of Kinara has gone to the staff's heads. Pros: Valet parking, close to my home Cons: painful facial, I was marked up for a month more

Poor Service. 3/12/2007

My sister and I went to Kinara Spa after a long awaited weekend to destress. We both signed up for the hydrotherapy bath treatments. While my sister was having her bath treatment, I was supposed to have an appointment with one of the Kinara Med nurses which I had informed the receptionist earlier when I walked in. Not only did the receptionist forgot about my appointment, but when my sister was done, their one and only spa tube stopped working which they said happens from time to time. No offers ask to when it would be working, if I should make another appointment, or any sort of discount for another service or replacement treatment to be offered. Again, I informed the receptionist that I had had an appointment and had still not been called. I waited for another 45 mins on top of the 30 mins that had passed waiting for the bath I never got. Fed up I left. Being that this was the first experience at the facility, I guarantee it will also be the last. Very dissatisfying. more

Great cafe, ambience, staff, treatments, products, retail boutique! 11/10/2006

Where do I begin? My favorite facial in Los Angeles. Love the cafe for a healthy lunch in a serene and gorgeous setting. Stock up on Splendid cotton tops and unique jewelry in the retail shop. Also try the kinara products --they work as great as they smell. Pros: All of it! Cons: Parking more

Amazing Results! 3/15/2006

After reading so much about Kinara's famous facials, I finally decided to check them out for myself. It's been a week since I had their oxygenating facial and my skin has never looked more clear and radiant. My skin definitely needed this pampering just as much as my body needed the relaxation from the great hot stone massage. I left booking my next appointment! Pros: Best Facial Ever!, Hot Stones more
