I'm pretty regular about who I see (Brigitte Tolson at Massage Therapy Center, or Kate Sommerville)- and for all the hype around the star esthetician who did my facial, and the $$- it was nothing like a very detail oriented treatment from Kate Sommerville at her clinic, and certainly nothing like the pampering and amazing peels I recieve from Brigette at Massage Therapy Center for nearly half the price. I had a gift certificate to Kinara, and I probably will not return on my own.
I'm used to some deep extractions, but these left me a bit "picked at" looking, and hurt like hell!! The massage/pampering bits weren't as loving as I like. Though this star esthetician has a nice touch in general, I cannot say there was anything exceptional about this treatment.
Call me finicky, but the over-thetop zen decor seems a bit contrived in the middle of West Hollywood two doors down from The Abbey--- maybe a fireplace, some warm decor, and softer lines.
Overall, results should be your guide of the treatment---not the experience, and I felt like my results were pretty average. Granted, I know there is only so much to be expected from a 1 hour treatment. From the editorial research I have done on Kinara, miracles arre to be anticipated, and they pride themselves on not giving you a standard "steam and cream" facial, but my results were just like any average facial without a peel or special additonal treatment. I would not call my experience horrible by any accounts, but simply average and not up to the hype.
Pros: Friendly front desk staff, close to some good gay bars
Cons: Not up to hype, better facials at kate sommerville or massage therapy center
