Worst

We have been there a few times, always like the decor and atmosphere and decent customer service. This time we actually paid attention to the food and it was disappointing: burge...

surprisingly good- ignore the haters 2/25/2008

i was expecting ketchup to be horrible considering how trendy it is, so when i was dragged there i was really surprised that the food was actually very good, expecially considering the reasonable prices, i highly recommend the scallops and the pork chop (but skip dessert it isnt worth the calories) the staff was also very friendly and gave great suggestions (to my surprise) in addition the manager came by and spent a considerable amount of time making sure we enjoyed our experience. if you want to get in and out this is not the place for you because service will take awhile, but if you want to relax and have a few drinks (which you can even get for free from the shot cart that comes around) and you dont think that you are too cool for school then this is a great option. i would recommend taking some out of town friends here so they can get the ""hollywood"" experience while also being treated well and getting good food at pretty reasonable prices. Pros: good food, good service, free shots Cons: dessert was lackluster more

Comfort food-Tara Reid=relief in the kitchen & the dining room 2/19/2008

I wanted to write a review after dining here numerous times within the past year it has been opened. After several disappointing experiences at the other Dolce Group restaurants (& club), I had to give a positive review to Ketchup, for the mere fact that the service here is just basically better than all the other places combined. The management has changed over the course of the past few months; one of them (the handsome one, go figure, but it's LA) was rather aloof; I watched him ask every patron around us how they were doing, & skip right over our table, wondering if he had something personal against me, yet he would swoop right down to remove an empty glass from my table without saying a word. Even the busboys had a smile on their face whether they were delivering an appetizer (kobe sliders or mini chicken tacos) or taking away dishes. The cocktail cart girl Amy was a sweetheart, but it looks like she has left & another one has stepped in who so far has been right on par with the previous one. As for my title, just a sly reminder that Tara Reid once roamed the kitchen & not that that should have anything to do with the food or experience but funny how things seem to be much better now than they were in the start...Ketchup has come a long way from its conception for the better...you almost forget it's a part of the Dolce Group... Pros: Kobe sliders, mini chicken tacos, fries, creative cocktails Cons: Mgmt needs to stop texting/talking on their phones & pay attention to the dining room more

Fantastic Experience 2/17/2008

Ketchup surpassed my expectation. I had seen it on the Hills and in US Weekly but I had no idea it was a first class restaurant. I loved the Scandalous Lobster Wraps and the Mini Kobe Beef Chili Dogs!!! The music was upbeat and had me and my girls dancing in our seats. Love the red globe lights! I even saw one of the owners, Lonnie Moore (from Millionare Matchmaker), sitting with a bevy of blondes. I recomment Ketchup to all KN's! Pros: Everything Cons: No complaints! more

Fun Night 2/15/2008

Went to ketchup on Wednesday night and it was awesome. The place was packed and the vibe was cool and alive. The pretzel bread basket was a good starter and the drink cart girl brough over free shots to start the night. I guess they have a new dish on the menu called DELIVERANCE , which is a jack daniel's glazed pork chop served with cheesey grits, it was amazing. Our server was fun and made it a cool experience. Pros: food, staff, drinks more

Sexist Weekend Place 2/11/2008

Really fun place to go with great food. Service is very fast, friendly, and well informed. They also have a great lounge to hang out at and get drinks. Ketchup is the perfect date restaurant; the place is always packed with tons of (hot) girls and celebrities. The only problem is that you have to get a reservation ahead of time because the place fills up quickly. The wine list was also very impressive. Ketchup is perfect for both the young and older crowd. Pros: Good food, great lounge, hot girls Cons: Need to call ahead, might have to get on the waiting list for a table more

So Much Fun! 2/10/2008

So I went to ketchup not too sure what to expect. It's been hyped so much and being next to Sunset Plaza I expected it to be totally 'sceney' and cheesy. However I was really, really wrong! From the moment you walk in everyone is so friendly and helpful, I went on a Thursday night and the place was packed but I still felt everyone was very attentive. My waitress was awesome, so sweet and knowledgeable and the manager couldn't have been more helpful. The food is delicious, I was celebrating so I treated myself to the kobe steak and it was so delicious, the lobster mashed potatoes so decadent. My boyfriend had the ribs with a side of mac and cheese which was so good we had to order an extra one on the side. The atmosphere was all-in-all buzzing, I saw 'mini-me' from Austin Powers sitting across from me and there were tonnes of other glamorous people running around. All in all this restaurant is of course, part of the scene, but its food is delicious, the service some of the best I've had in LA, and the atmosphere and glamor of the restaurant, really something to go and experience. Pros: Atmosphere, staff, 'experience' Cons: busy busy more

Fun!! 2/10/2008

So I went to Ketchup on a Friday night expecting a normal hollywood restaurant for my friends B day and we were so surprised!! Not only was the food DELICIOUS but all the staff was really nice and friendly, not to mention beautiful. The managers came and talked to our table and even gave us some free ""party shots."" We did have to wait about 15 minutes for our table even with a reservation but the service was fast and it was well worth it! My friend thought I was amazing for picking such a fun B day place and we will definitely be going back. Pros: Very fun, friendly staff, great food Cons: Valet was confusing more

Stylish and hip new spot to be! 2/9/2008

I was introduced to Ketchup on Friday night and absolutely fell in LOVE with it! The atmosphere was incredibly trendy- it made me feel ""important"". The staff was was quite an attractive bunch and the managers were friendly and very personable with the tables! The music was pleasing to the ear and made it feel FUN inside! The restaurant sits on the second floor overlooking Sunset with red lighting and red carpeting. When it came time to order the service was on point. Our waitress was kind and quirky, she took our order down and it was out in prompt timing. My friends and I started off with the 3 some fries (delicious!) and the sliders and barking dogs. They were petite little appetizers that were just fun in size alone. For the main course I enjoyed the drunken scallops and finished with the American Classic, which is a small original ""ding dong"" type dessert. It was a chocolate cake with clear cream inside and pure vanilla bean ice cream. When our meal was finished, we headed into the lounge and had a few drinks. My favorite part were the martinis-- they were just incredible! Ladies you must try them! Especially the Honeymooners, ahh AMAZING! Anyways- I had to give my praise to my new favorite restaurant! Go check it out!!! Pros: martinis, service, ambience Cons: zilch more

Great hollywood spot!!! 2/9/2008

I was at ketchup on thursday night, and it was awesome! The crowd was excellent- quite a few celeb sightings, which definitely made an impression on my friend feom ouy of town. The entire atmosphere is very hip and hollywood, with the glamorous red lighting and white upholstery. The bar area is really cool. The food was surprisingly delicious. I am normally not that hot on american food, but i LOVED the fries, the mac n cheese and the scallops. My friend got the ribs and sliders- yummy!! I had one of their specialty cocktails and sampled two others. Very fun. The ""happy ending"" was the best part though. We got an ice cream sandwich, an enormous amount of goodness. Service was friendly and efficient to boot!! I love ketchup! Pros: food, service, people watching more

A Must Visit 2/9/2008

Had a blast... Cool atmosphere, young crowd, fun music. Although the service was a bit slow at times because of how busy they were, everyone was friendly and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed every minute of our dining experience... From the comfort food and menu items that took me back to bein a kid, to the specialty martinis with creative names. Definitely a hot spot in Hollywood. Pros: Atmosphere, Music, Food, and Drinks Cons: Service a bit slow at times more

Really Fun Place W/ Excellent Food 2/9/2008

Went to Ketchup with a 4 of my friends from work and had a blast. We got sat like 15-20 minutes after our res but we didn't mind because we hung out in the lounge. It looks over Sunset Blvd into the hills. Very cool. Ketchup is a real overall experience. It's a beautiful open space, with red and white everywhere (see pictures above) and it has a buzz which gives the place a sort of night club atmosphere. Pretty much I think we talked about the restaurant for about half the time we were there. A lot going on from the shot cart that goes around and gives you samples of their cocktails (complimentary but tip the girl) to the Fun-titled menu items like the Three Some (an assortment of unique fries served with an assortment of homemade ketchups). The waiter gave us a description of some 'must haves' and we took his word and WOW the food was awesome. Get the Fries, the Kobe Chili Hotdogs, the Mac & Cheese with crab and truffle oil (oh my God!), The Jack Daniels glazed 14 oz Pork Chop, The Scallops with wicked ale and lobster mashed potatoes, the Pistachio Chicken Breast with a raz sauce (called a Shake N Bake) or grilled cheez w/ Tomato Soup. Again, couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. Get the ice cream sandwich for desert. Simple but awesome. We had fun at Ketchup and left full. People working there really nice too. Great date place...lots to talk about. Go. Pros: Food, Ambiance (party scene), Staff, Something Different w/ Quality Cons: Not a quiet place if that's what you are looking for. more

Amazing Steak! 2/9/2008

I was a bit reluctant to walk into Ketchup, but once there, I just had an absolute blast! The food is spectacular! They have 3 different types of fries there, and I think like 6 ketchups. Maybe thats where the name comes from. We shared the fries, my girlfriend got an order of mini tacos which, while being very mini, were amazing. I got the barking dogs, which are small kobe beef hotdogs. Also fantatsic. Then I had the Kobe fillet which has an incredible flavor. For those steak lovers out there, you can't beat it. My girlfriend ordered their pork chop, which I guess is called Deliverance. Anyway, that was probably the best pork chop i've ever had. And I dont even like pork. Pros: Food! Service! Free Shots! Cons: crowded more

Sushi, get off our lawns. Off the Lawns of America. Ketchup is here! 2/9/2008

Sharing its title with a popular American condiment, The Dolce Group's new restaurant Ketchup, is markedly different from other ""Diner"" themed establishments that litter the LA food landscape. This restaurant looks outward instead of inward, with concerns more worldly than familial, and their food more malevolent than cathartic. A three course meal is generously empathetic to the basest instincts of the common man. Pros: Empathy. Commonality. Heart Land. Cons: Too loud. Sometimes cold. more

Ketchup is Amazing!! 2/9/2008

Ketchup is definately one of the best restaurants in hollywood. It's an amazing experience-from walking in and being greeted by energetic hosts-to sipping on some yummy cocktails after a wonderful meal. They play awesome music which definately helps get the party started. They have a gorgeous dining room in all red and white with candles lit on your table..great for romantic dinners or even a big birthday party. They also have a bar and lounge which has really cumfy white chairs in which you can chill and get your drink on or even order off the full menu. The food is excellent, staff is great, and the restaurant if very hip. Definately the best martinis in town! I would recommend for everyone!! Pros: staff, food, cocktails more

Great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere 2/9/2008

Walking into Ketchup was like walking into another world of bliss. The energy of this restaurant: the staff, the guests, the food, the drinks, the music and the atmosphere itself only covers 70% of what makes this restaurant great!!!! The management and the customer service of this restaurant are superb. The only negative to this wonderland is the parking situation...not many choices except paying either $10 at the valet or meter parking....Welcome to L.A. Other than that, I recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Ambience, Service, Food, Drinks Cons: Parking, sometimes a wait more

BEST RESTAURANT !!!!! 2/9/2008

I LOVE KETCHUP!! THE AOMSPHERE IS GREAT! VERY HIP AND COOL GOOD PLACE TO HANGOUT THEY HAVE A BAR & LOUNGE AREA WITHCOMFY BIG SOFA LIKE CHAIRS AND YOUR ABLE TO ORDER FROM THE FULL MENU THERE AS WELL!! THE APPETIZERS ARE VERY CREATIVE THEY HAVE MINI YUMMY BURGERS AND THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FRIES CALLED "" 3 SOME"" WHICH COME WITH 5 DIFFERENT TYPE OF KETCHUPS!!! ALL ARE SOOO TASTY. THE THEME IS VERY CATCHY IT WAS ALL RED AND WHITE LIKE A KETCHUP BOTTLE :) STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND MADE SURE THE CUSTOMERS WERE SEATED RIGHT AWAY WITHOUT LOONG WAITS. THE COCKTAIL ""SUMMER LOVIN"" IS ONE OF MY FAVS! OVERALL KETCHUP IS OUTSTANDING ! GREAT SPOT FOR DINNER AND DRIN KS WITH A FUN SURROUNDING AND FRIENDLY STAFF Pros: Ambience, service, food, location... EVERYTHING!! more

Great Pre-Night 2/9/2008

Ketchup has one of the best bar/lounge scenes around. The bar/lounge is gorgeous, it has floor to ceiling windows that over look the sunset plaza. The crowd is also very easy on the eyes. Ketchup has become one of my regular pre-party spots before hitting the clubs...And if I didn't mention it the food is also great. Shake N' Bake, or grilled salmon everyday. They have a great mix of comfort food, and they don't skimp on the portions. You'll leave full, and happy. more

Cool & Relaxing 2/7/2008

Met up with some friends for drinks. loved the vibe. we were so with the atmosphere we decided to dine. We sat within 10min or less and boy our server Darren rocked! He sold me on the Deliverance ""pork chop"" w/ ""cheesy grits"". I must say it owned up to its name. Man everything was great! Can't wait to visit again. more

Great pre-club spot 2/7/2008

Just got back from my third trip to this place. I was blown away by their new pork chop entree. It came with these awesome cheddar grits. The atmosphere was great. I didn't have such high expectations walking into this trendy spot, but everything was excellent from the food, to the drinks, to the service, to the music. My only warning is to order more appetizers than you'd think you'll want...they run kinda small. Pros: Food, music, crowd Cons: small appetizers more

FUN-FRIENDLY-DELICIOUS 2/7/2008

My experience at ""Ketchup"" was great! We had a group of 6 people, which was accomdated perfectly in a huge-comfortable booth. We had an 8pm reservation and the hostesses were friendly and seated us promptly after hanging out in the lounge/bar for a few mins. We just enjoyed our shots and cocktails before-hand! Our waitress was extremely friendly, knowlegdable, and not to mention beautiful. We ordered 2 appetizers for the table (3some fries and kobe sliders) and loved them. I ordered the Buffalo Bill, after the waitress gave us great recommendations! IT WAS DELICIOUS. My friends at the table were also pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Not to mention to really cool-red atmosphere. Also, no just one, but two different managers came to check on our table throughout the evening. I have been to a lot of ""hip/LA"" restaurants and ""Ketchup"" is definately one of my favorites! If you are looking for a fun, friendly, delicious place to eat, drink, and chill- Ketchup is definately the place to be! Plus, ya never know who you're going to see when ya go! Pros: SERVICE, FOOD, AMBIENCE more
