There is a reason this place has been open forever... it is really that good. Hut's is one of my favorite burger spots in austin ever. It gets a little crowded but that is to be e...

Worst

I wasn't impressed. I'm from Dallas and was hoping for an awesome burger. I got the double, one pattie was done the second was medium rare. Not how I like to eat hamburger meat...

Horrible, thin, dry burgers 8/1/2010

Huts might have been a good place back in the day but it's lived on reputation too long and as a result I almost get the feeling the customers are a burden. The staff was rude the food awful, thin and dry burgers, nasty cold fries and the restaurant was filthy. There way better places, don't even bother Pros: there should be one but there isn't Cons: the food, the restaurant, the staff more

Disappointed! 7/16/2010

I was disappointed in my visit to Hut's Hamburgers Wednesday night 14 July 2010. I was looking forward to the treat having read so many favorable online reviews in advance. Well, I can honestly say McDonald's prepares and delivers a better hamburger. My experience at Hut's clearly did not meet my expectations. Will I make a return visit in the future? No way, thank you very much. Pros: Good frys Cons: Hamburger was fair more

Yum 12/3/2009

I'm a huge fan of Frank and Angies, having eaten there for three years because I work downtown. I went to Huts for lunch as a change in pace and I knew they were owned by the same people. I had the Alan Freed burger and these guys know how to do it right! Their homemade hickory sauce it wonderful. I would suggest making this stop for lunch :) Pros: Alan Freed burger more

Great Hangout! 11/10/2009

This is defiantly one of my all-time favorite places to take people that have never been to Austin before! The Staff know whats going on and always are on top of things, the burgers are awesome and there are endless combos of burgers to make! Pros: Never need to Ask for a refill Cons: ...... more

Good burger 11/1/2009

Went to Hut's with co-workers. I like my burgers simple: no sauces, with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. This means I'm at odds with most people in Austin (but not Ft. Worth). I ordered a double burger and a side of fries and rings. The burger was good (but not great). The fries were burnt, as most places in Austin haven't figured out how to cook fresh cut fries without burning them. Onion rings were nothing to write home about. Pros: Burger was good Cons: Burnt fries more

Don't order the chicken fried steak! 10/19/2009

I have always ordered a hamburger, but yesterday felt like a chicken fried steak. They brought out the plate and it looked like a child's plate. I thought I might have accidentally ordered the child's portion as the chicken fried steak was about the same size and shape as a hamburger patty, just chicken fried. I couldn't believe it since this is Austin Texas and so many restaurants have very large chicken fried steaks. If you want to see waht a real chicken fried steak looks like, go to the City Cafe in Elgin, or to Nutty Brown in Dripping, but don't order it here. Stick to their hamburgers and fries. Huts's should be ashamed to even put it on the menu. Pros: Harmburgers good Cons: Chicken fried steak looks like a child's portion. more

Odd place, great food. 10/2/2009

Hut's serves great hamburgers, and great onion rings. A typically Austin establishment in every way, both good bad, Hut's is on 6th Street, which is one of the busier streets in downtown Austin, and has very, very little in the way of a parking lot. I always have to park on the street nearby, which often entails circling the surrounding blocks a few times. Once you get to the door, a wait almost certainly is in store for you - anything up to an hour and a half is certainly not unusual, especially on busy days. The food is great, though, and I wouldn't typically mind waiting up to about 45 minutes for it. The building itself is a little old and quite rough around the edges, so I'd recommend just focusing on chatting, enjoying the smells, and drooling over the huge selection of burgers available. If you haven't tried buffalo before, I'd recommend upgrading your patty to it - you won't be disappointed! more

Average Burger 9/4/2009

We ordered the All American (regular burger; no gimmick sauces or anything). The burger was just average; only a little better than a Sonic burger, but 3x as pricey. The meat was grassfed beef, but did not have much flavor. Small machine pressed patty. The bun was nothing special, and the toppings were old. Our salad was wilted, and the water was bad. Only Pro was good service and choice of beef. If you want to try Austin's best burgers, go to #14? Cover 3, #2 Counter Cafe, or #37 Mighty Fine (yes, a chain). Discovered these through Texas Monthly's Best 50 burgers in the state edition. Pros: Choice of beef Cons: Only average burger more

Love it! 4/23/2009

Buy one get one burgers on Wednesday! Yummy!!! Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Good burger, more of a ""I'nm hungover and need some fries"" kind of place 2/4/2009

The burgers are good, but not great. Over all a fun spot that you can see why it is an institution in a college town. Location! They should be open until 3am everynight, bet they'd do great business. more

Amazing... 12/28/2008

Don't listen to anyone who gave this place a bad review. They are terrorists... they hurt innocent women and children. Do you hate terrorists? Then eat at Hut's! Pros: Delicious... Cons: ...too delicious. more

Awesome tasty burgers 11/7/2008

A lot of burger joints overlook the quality of the patties. Most of them are too thin and lacking in flavor, concentrating too much on what goes on top of it. The first thing we noticed at Hut's was that the patties tasted like real meat with substance and flavor. The patties were also thick and juicy and cooked as ordered. Hut's has a wide variety of burgers, but also giving you the option to build your own burgers, making options Although our waiter recommended Hut's Favorite, the All American , and Ritchie Valens, we decided to try something different and ordered the Beach Boy Favorite and Alley-Oop with the addition of tomatoes. We finished our burgers quickly and were not disappointed. The onion rings, while tasty as well, were too thick and a bit overwhelming. We didn't order shakes this time, but we'll be back for sure to try that as well as other burgers and combinations. more

AWESOME BURGERS! 10/21/2008

Me and my boyfriend visited Austin from Houston this weekend and this place was recommended as a great lunch spot. We only had to wait about 5 min for a seat, which i thought was going to be longer since it was so crowded. Our waitress was nice and the hamburger was out of this world. Now im wishing we had that place in Houston. We will for sure go back the next time we are in Austin. Pros: Great food....the amount of food we got.... Cons: We didnt order the Onion Rings.... more

Uh-Maz-Ing 10/19/2008

I love this place to death. They have the best burgers and milk shakes in town. Amazingly affordable, and I always leave there full. One time, our waiter even got our desert on him (me, my brother, and my aunt). The place is a little cluttered, but beacuse of that there is always something new to look at while you're waiting for your food. Pros: Great food, service. Great everything Cons: Parking, usually busy more

This food bad, and service is bad. 9/13/2008

the food is bad. i will nere eat here, do not like. the seather can not read or write, is racestBe conversational: Write it as if relaying your experience to a good friend. more

Great Veggie Burgers 7/29/2008

The Monday night special on veggie burgers makes this restaurant a weekly ritual. The Theta Special or the Chubby Chuck both top Hut's unique veggie patty with delicious hickory sauce, sandwiched between soft hamburger buns - yummy but messy. The service is fast, the waitstaff are nice, the atmosphere is ""Austiny"", and the drinks are huge so you never have to wait on a refill. Pros: veggie burgers, value, waitstaff, fast Cons: parking, french fries, short straws more
