Best

There is a reason this place has been open forever... it is really that good. Hut's is one of my favorite burger spots in austin ever. It gets a little crowded but that is to be e...

Worst

I wasn't impressed. I'm from Dallas and was hoping for an awesome burger. I got the double, one pattie was done the second was medium rare. Not how I like to eat hamburger meat...

Best Burgers in Austin . . . 1/18/2004

. . . especially if you think you are what you eat! Hut's is one of the few places in Austin that uses free-range, drug- and dope-free beef. Yee haw! And believe me you can taste the difference. And for vegetarians, Hut's wins two thumbs-up for creating their own, falafel-esque burger (and I think it's vegan) that you can have in place of beef hamburgers. Oh, and I'm less than an hour away from taking advantage of their 2-for-1 deal with my boyfriend. Just thinking of the onion rings makes my mouth water. Pros: cruelty-free beef, homemade veg burger, cheap eats Cons: parking, crowded more

Awesome 12/18/2003

Absolutely our favorite place to eat in Austin. Buffalo burgers are out of this world! Phenomenal onion rings, and the fries, with some melted cheese...oh, chest pain, but worth it! Pros: inexpensive , easy to find Cons: so-so parking more

Not that great. 9/5/2003

I wasn't impressed. I'm from Dallas and was hoping for an awesome burger. I got the double, one pattie was done the second was medium rare. Not how I like to eat hamburger meat. And the whole thing fell apart. Yuck. The double double (fries and o-rings) were ok. The fries were real potatoes, but, kind of old. The o-rings were extremely large, but not crunchy enough. more

Best?? Give me a break 9/5/2003

Am I the only one who thinks that Hut's is way over rated? Their burgers are dry and tasteless. Cons: bad food, no parking, not worth the money more

Still the Best 8/6/2003

I can't believe what some of these reviews say. Are you sure they're not written by Hut's competitors? These burgers are great! The beef they use is terrific. The buffalo burgers are yummy too--I don't know anywhere else that serves them. My health conscious and vegetarian friends love the chicken and veggie burgers. And with all the different varieties--there's always something new to try. I think they're the best burgers in Austin--and apparently your readership agrees! Pros: The best burgers, Inexpensive, Great variety more

Not the best 7/24/2003

I read all the reviews here and tried out huts. Should say they do have good food but not the best! You can find the same kind of burgers elsewhere too. I would agree that Hut's is a little overrated. Their blue plate specials are a good value and there is a 2 for 1 special on a burger almost everyday. Their milkshakes are definitely worth trying!! more

so many choices! 4/7/2003

i never knew there could be so many choices when ordering a burger... i suggest the richie valens burger... it really hit the spot. Pros: great service!, cheap, big portions Cons: noisy more

Texman 2/7/2003

Hut's hamburgers are the bomb. If you are worried about gaining weight, then don't eat hamburgers. Hut's has an awesome mushroom burger and the buffalo burger is killer. If meat is what you want then double up. this place is definetly an Austin establishment. No one would know that it was an old gas station. more

Hut's Sut's 2/7/2003

Hut's Hamburgers is a overrated Austin location. When you are carnal enough to want to eat a burger then you don't want vegetables or other fruity items included with your meal. The waitstaff? What waitstaff? Service is not on the menu at Hut's by any stoke of imagination. If you mean to eat an item such as a burger stick with a location that doesn't try to make chic out of horrible. more

great hambugers and shakes 1/25/2003

Really good hamburgers, really good shakes. Onion rings, though huge, are a little bland. Get the fries instead. more

They have got to be kidding 12/22/2002

I went to Hut's anticipating a great hamburger and great service, but was very disappointed. My husband and I are not caucasian and we felt as if our server had never waited on our ethnicity before. Also, he was completely unattentive. The hamburger was mediocre at best, but not worth what it costs. I felt like I wasted my time on all those calories. Hut's is probably the most popular hamburger place in Austin, but not the best. However, on our way out a very friendly employee inquired about our experience and held the door for us. Pros: One friendly employee Cons: Service was terrible, Mediocre, Horrible parking more

Good food.......... 12/15/2002

Great burgers!! Lots of greese. No where to park and can be very busy...but the good ones always r. Cons: too busy, no where to park, loud more

going downhill fast 12/13/2002

I used to love Hut's, but a recent visit after being out of Austin for a few years was very disappointing. Our burgers were overdone and the usually yummy fries and onion rings were tasteless. Our waitress was terrible. She brought me the wrong burger and then proceded to argue with me that it was correct. I finally had to get the menu to show her that Arnold's Best isn't made with sour cream and swiss cheese!!! more

sorry to disagree 12/13/2002

I have been on a quest to find the best burger in Austin. Since locals know best, I have been to Hut's three times, and I have been greatly dissappointed three times. The burgers are burnt to a crisp, the onion rings(althought beautiful) flavorless and the mushroom gravy room temp., too salty and lacking in any sort of mushroom. more

Hut's is the King of Burgers 12/4/2002

I thought Red Barn was great. Johnny Fin's had a fantastic burger too. Then I got a taste of a Hut's burger and was shown what a true burger is. If you got Wednesday you get 2 burgers for the price of one. And the burgers are thick and juicy. They also have the best french fries in town. Recommended. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Parking can be hard to come by but is is 6th St. so what do you expect? Pros: inexpensive, good service, great food Cons: parking more

Mmmm...Dagburger 11/18/2002

Anyone who thinks a burger is a burger has not eaten at Hut's. Not only are these burgers big and juicy, but they're topped with options from the standard cheese/lettuce/tomato to guacamole, pineapple and ham. My favorite is the Dagburger, which is nothing more exotic than 2 giant patties with the standard fixins, but man, is that a burger! Cons: parking more

A Tradition 11/17/2002

The entire menu is indescribably delicious and has been for more years than I can remember. more

you go huts 11/15/2002

their hamburgers rock, and their fries are great, but not the BEST, but a close second. more

CLASSIC JOINT 11/14/2002

JUST RETURNED FROM AUSTIN. HUTS IS A TRADITIONAL LAND MARK. GREAT BURGERS & UNBELIEVABLE ONION RINGS. THE FATS DOMINO BURGER IS EXCELLENT. THE CROWDS CANT BE WRONG. Pros: SERVICE, BURGERS, INEXPENSIVE Cons: PARKING, CROWDS more

Too greasy for me! 11/9/2002

Food was way too greasy, salad had brown cut edges, did not get my order correct the two times I visited. Place could use some serious cleaning, not very appetizing. Pros: Old, Rundown Cons: Greasy, Don't expect much more
