The best location in New Orleans! The service is great and we thought the restaurants were delicious. Also, we always enjoy the Carousel Bar...very unique and fun!

Beautiful rooms, wonderful location, friendly and warm service 6/23/2008

My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel Monteleone and had a wonderful visit. The front desk staff was friendly and accomodating to our needs. Our room was lovely. It not only had the basics (clean, fragrant, beautiful views of the city, well furnished, etc) but the bathroom was the best feature! It was marble, with a separate shower stall and a large tub for two, with jets along the side of the bath tub. The bathrobes and towels were plush and high quality and the sheets must have been north of 500 thread count. We ordered room service one morning, and it was delivered on time with food that was both delicious and hot. We would go back in a heartbeat. We truly enjoyed our experience at the Hotel Monteleone! Pros: Location, Price, Friendly staff, views from hotel room, bathroom Cons: No cons. more

Classic New Orleans Hotel Is The Best! Outstanding, Friendly Staff! Famous Carousel Bar! 2/28/2007

The Monteleone, is the only place we stay, when we visit the Big Easy. And they were up and running shortly after Katrina, with a limited staff. Our last visit, was like going to a good friends house for the weekend. Some college kids were kind of noisy one night, and I mentioned it to the front desk, and we were moved and upgraded at no extra charge. And the renovated rooms are lovely. Mornings always stared in the LeCafe for breakfast. That staff, was so friendly, it was like having coffee with your best friend in the morning. And after a day/night of drinking/eating, coming back to the hotel, it was always a night cap at the legendary Carousel Bar. It's on Royal St. with all those wonderful antique/galleries, and one block away from Bourbon St. and the noise. This is our New Orleans home. Five Stars! Pros: Beautiful Rooms, Staff, Location, Food & Drinks! Five Stars! Cons: None! Are You Kidding! more

Location, Location, Location 3/12/2006

If you're looking for a wonderful hotel in the French Quarter (close to everything!) without the noise of Bourbon St. - this is it!! My husband and I try to stay here whenever we're in New Orleans. The carousel bar is wonderful as is the staff (particularly the concierge)! Pros: location, bar area, concierge more

In the heart of N'awlins 3/2/2006

My wife and I visited New Orleans pre-Katrina at the end of November 2005. It's located right at the edge of the French Quarter. It was perfectly situated for exploring the city. We loved being able to walk home at night from all the restaurants and hot spots. The Hotel is only a block off of Bourbon Street. The Hotel is furnished very nicely. You don't feel as if youre in the typical bland hotel room. It's also large enough so you don't feel as if your being scrutinized either. The topper to all of this was their Carousel bar in the Hotel Lobby. It was nice to come back and have a nightcap in this one of a kind gem (Don't worry. The bar doesn't rotate so fast that you get dizzy). Pros: Location, Atmosphere, Lobby Bar more

Katrina can't keep us away for aniversary 31 12/17/2005

31 years ago I spent my first night in New Orleans at the Monteleone. I loved it. My husband and I have spent several aniversaries at the hotel. We had debated on coming because of Katrina, but when we got the nice email from the manager thank us for planning our trip with them, we where very happy we did. This hotel is beutiful. The people are great. Especial, Eddie at the Carousel Bar. He makes us feel special. The hotel is centrally located. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Information lady seems note as friendly as the rest of the staff. We will always stay at this hotel. Pros: atmosphere, Carousel Bar, historic Cons: unfriendly Info clerk, hard to get rooms more

A fun place a bit off Bourbon St 6/6/2005

I was here just before Fat Tuesday. The food was Great. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable The Carousel Bar is something to experience. The room was very nice(what I saw of it) It is a thing you want to do to have that ""Mardi Gras feeling. Loets of people having fun. The only bad thing was some of the elevators were shut down, but I am sure that is long since fixed. Hope you have fun. Pros: Goood Food, Great Bar Cons: Still doing upkeep? more

thanks for the memories 6/13/2004

this is NEW ORLEANS - the conventions - the parades - the people - the location - the bar - I LOVE this place - wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when in NO - who cares if the rooms are small, why are you in your room when so much is happening? Pros: location, location, location more

Disappointed 1/10/2003

We chose this hotel based on some reviews we read on travel guides, but we were disappointed. We realized that ""historic"" is just a euphemism for ""really, really old."" The facade and the lobby are beautiful, but our room was very, very shabby. The bathroom was pitifully outdated. We could not sleep much for the two nights we stayed, because of the noise from other guests (thin wall?), who were shouting for hours. The frontdesk did not respond to our complaints. Stay here if the only thing you care about is being in the French Quarters. Pros: location Cons: shabby more

Liked It and Would Stay Again 8/16/2002

Often imbibed at atmospheric, revolving Carousel Bar, but never stayed at the hotel until this trip. Our corner room was small, lacked the queen bed we'd reserved, but was nice. Difference in room rate was adjusted by the manager once we provided proof of rate we'd been guaranteed through Orbitz. Service seems indifferent in general. ""Doorman"" nonchalantly opened the door on occasion; ""Receptionist"" at check-in was less than friendly. This is rare, considering the impressive and genial service encountered at EVERY other hotel (Royal Sonesta, Le Meridien, Prytania Park, Pontchartrain) I've stayed at in New Orleans. However, the woman who refilled our mini-bar was cheery and just GREAT! In addition, LOVED the rooftop pool and adjoining area. Would stay here again simply because the manager was kind enough to adjust the bill, because the Carousel Bar is wonderful for drinks, and the pool area was so relaxing. Pros: Great location, Carousel Bar, Rooftop pool Cons: Small rooms, Indifferent service more

Wonderful 8/7/2002

After searching around, my boyfriend and I decided to stay in the Hotel Monteleone for our long weekend. When we arrived to the French Quarter, we were not impressed with the front entrance. However, our impression with the hotel automatically changed. The hotel workers were wonderful and helpful. We were upgraded from our original reservations. The room itself was comfortable, clean and cozy. We really couldn't ask for anything more! We are planning to return to the Hotel Monteleone soon. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly Workers, Romantic Cons: Ugly Entrance more

Almost Paradise! 7/26/2002

This is a great hotel! It is right in the heart of the Quarter, and about 2 blocks from just about everything (Jackson Square is a little farther). Every employee that we came in contact with was extremely nice and helpful. The decor was elegant. The hotel was clean, Yes, the rooms are somewhat small, but the service more than makes up for that. Our first night, we had a room without a view. The next morning, we requested a change and was told that the request would be taken care of by the time we returned from our tour. It was! Le Cafe makes a great brunch. We would definitely stay here again! Pros: Service, Location more

The most incredible weekend ever 7/16/2002

Took my wife for 4 days, INCREDIBLE. We fell in love all over again. The Monteleone will steal your heart. We got upgraded to a SWEET room. It is THE PLACE. Order room service for breakfast one morning and walk to get Mimosa ingredients on Canal St. (while your sweetie is still sleeping). LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Pros: pool, buffet, carousel bar more

Old World Elegance 7/10/2002

Hotel Monteleone is a beautiful historic hotel, two blocks from Canal Street just inside the French Quarter and with a few minor flaws, a wonderful first class property. The flaws: their rooms are on the small side, windows are sealed shut, and their front desk offers little in the way of making a good first impression. Elsewhere, the Concierge, Bellman, housekeeping are very accommodating, and the Carousel Bar makes an excellent, reasonably priced Bloody Mary. I would recommend the Monteleone and not hesitate to stay with them again. Pros: Carousel Bar, Few children, Architecture Cons: Small Rooms, Front desk staff, Sealed room windows more

Classic favorite 6/10/2002

I've spent plenty of time in New Orleans but on the few occassions I've needed a hotel, I've never found a place that promises as great of atmosphere as the city does a good time. Situated on Royal Street, a favorite to stroll down for shopping, antiques and galleries, the location has all the charm without the harm you can sometimes run into in the French Quarter. Rooftop pool is the perfect wake up to an evening out on the town. You can stay a week and never sleep in this city, but Monteleone makes it worth your while to hang at the hotel. Pros: location, room service menu more
