I have a 4-year AC and Evap cooler maint contract with Hardin, whose techs came 3x in the last 2 years to do maint. On 6/7/11, my evap cooler failed. American Home Shield (AHS) insures it. An AHS tech from Consolidated Mechanical aka CM checked the unit 6/17. He said the cooler didn’t wasn’t maintained, ever, and the pump had failed. AHS refused to cover the repair cost. I called Hardin (J Harris). She said last 2 Hardin invoices showed only ac was serviced, not evap. She said the Service Manager would call me same day. 14 days later, Wes called.He said he could cover the repair of the pump. He sent a tech to look. Hardin’s tech said the unit was rusty due to age; that there is a problem with the motor due to water in the unit. CMs written report says… “Disconnect that go’s to evap bypassed bo block inside bearings not oiled on blower wheel and don not want to spin oiled everything and damage to motor was done motor bad until way over due for maintenance unit rusting out and water leaking on roof, water stains on roof has leak for a while at one time water spraying on motor water stains on motor. Belt falling apart… Needs pulley to match new motor…” Sent the CM report to Hardin and asked them to make my system right again because lack of maint. prob. contributed to the breakdown. I've not gotten a response. Have since complained to the BBB and www.roc dot org.
