Haircolorxperts at the Arboretum

I've been searching around for a stylist since moving down from New York. I had a really great stylist when I lived in the city, and when I moved to Cary, I wanted to find someone similar. That is, someone who will listen to what I want, but make suggestions to let my style and look evolve and stay current. It took me a while, but I found that person in Brittany Goodman at the Haircolorxperts in Cary. She's exactly what I want in a stylist: she asks me what I want to do, we talk about it, she makes suggestions on how to switch thing up a bit, and I either say, "Lets do it " or "Maybe next time." As the months have gone by, she's come to understand what I want, and how daring (or not daring) I am. During my recent appointments, I've taken all her suggestions about my cut and my color, and have loved the result every time. And, she's quite a bit easier on my pocketbook than my Manhatten stylist! I'm at the age where I want to look professional at the office (who doesn't, actually), but still be able to have a fun look when I go out with the girls. Brittany has been great at giving me styling tips to go along with versatile cuts. She's never pushed product on me, and while she is very professional, I always have fun in her chair. And when I've been in bind, and needed a quick cut before I leave on a business trip, she's always managed to fit me in. I feel like a credible review should mention a few areas for improvement. First, and I believe someone mentioned this in an earlier review, it can be a little frustrating to find a parking spot during lunchtime during the week. Second, I think that the same movie is on the televisions, every time I am getting my hair colored! Enough of Matthew McConaughey! (Actually, some women might be excited to see him every time.) I referred all my girl friends to Brittany, and they are all STILL my girl friends. I think that says it all. Pros: Brittany Goodman. Can't say it any better than that. I have only visited Haircolorxperts once, but that was enough to lure me right in! I went into the salon not knowing what to expect but was quickly greeted with a comforting welcome. My visit only got better as April worked her magic. I left the salon with a GORGEOUS cut, color and style I would have never thought I could pull off. I can?t wait to see what April has in store for me on my next visit. more

i just moved from the west coast 3 months ago and was so worried i wouldn't be able to find a hairstylist right away. after coming to Haircolorxperts in Cary at the Arboretum and seeing Noelle, i will not go anywhere else! she listened to what i wanted for my "summer color" and suggested a second hilite color that is just beautiful! i get compliments everywhere i go, and was very impressed she matched my color perfectly from my previous hairdresser. she also gave me a great haircut and explained the upkeep so i will be able to keep my beautiful cut and color looking fresh. Noelle has had numerous training classes, and is very knowledgable of haircolor from avante garde to classic natural. i look foward to many great styles with her. April does not listen to instructions, no matter how specific you are. She feels the need to add her own "artistic" touches to your haircut, even if it is not what you asked for. Pros: I was offered a free haircut by another stylist. Cons: Stylists not carefully evaluated by owner. more

Lauren LaVecchia is the best hair stylist I have been to in Raleigh, NC. Not only does she actually listen to what you want but she actually does what you want. Whether I want to color my hair or just get a simple trim she takes her time to understand what I am looking for and then gives me that style. I highly recommend visiting Lauren and then you will see what I am talking about. more

I was so pleased to find a stylist that would talk to me and help me make the best hair choice. April was wonderful!!! I have been looking for someone for nearly 6 months and I struck gold with April. The facility was modern, extremely clean, and in a great location. I felt sooooooo comfortable there. I had my hair cut a couple of weeks ago by April R. at Hair Color Xperts and loved it! It's so rare to find a stylist who actually listens to me and cuts my hair the way I want it cut. I have a major cowlick and most of the time my hair wants to stick out all crazy, but April was able to tame it. Hurray! Her personality is so sweet and friendly, and I really enjoyed getting to know her. I hope she never leaves Hair Xperts! more

I would not reccomend this place to anybody. The only reason I went to haircolorxperts was beacuse of all the good reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was not the same. The person who colored my hair did a very bad job (even though she did charge me max amount). more

It was definitely time for a change, so I decided to try Haircolorxperts to see what they could do to help me. Little did I know, this would be one of the best changes I have had in a long time. I made an appointment with Lauren LaVecchia in hopes that she would be able to give me a new, trendy style that I could manage myself. Lauren exceeded my expectations by a long shot! Before I visited Haircolorxperts, I was the girl with the same hairstyle no matter what decade it was! Now that Lauren helped me venture out, I get compliments on my trendy hairstyle all of the time. more

What can I say about this place? Great service, great atmosphere, and great hair. I have been going to HCX for over a year now and I ask for Lauren every time. I'm sure the others are great, but come on Ladies....when you find someone that you can trust with your hair, you don't deviate. The cuts are great, the coloring is incredible and very consistent. April may be new to the salon, but she's been cutting my hair for years, and she's the best stylist I've ever had. She is incredibly talented, not only at cutting, but at finding the right style for me and my hair. I'm always impressed by her insightful suggestions when I don't know exactly what I want. She takes the time to talk things through with me, and cuts with attention to the smallest details. April really puts people at ease, and her upbeat and positive nature makes it always a pleasure to see her. She will be the stylist you'll never want to lose. more

Just wanted to let everyone know that April at Hair colorxperts at the Arboretum is awesome! I was a client at her previous salon but have followed her to Cary - I would probably follow her to Atlanta if I had to. I found her through a friend's recommendation and have passed her name along to my nearest and dearest. She knows her stuff, is truly talented and obviously loves the work. April is one of the few stylists I have ever known who has mastered the art of having thoughtful, flattering suggestions about cuts without ever being pushy. She's very conscientious about keeping up what's fashionable but is always able to translate new trends in a way that's suitable both to my personal style and the way I live. As a student, super-frequent coloring treatments aren't really in my budget, so she worked with me to find a highlight shade that would be flattering, seem like enough of a change, but be easy to maintain (rather than pushing me towards something that would require me to be back in foils every four weeks). She spent hours with me trying out styles for my wedding, and wrote out scrupulous instructions to the woman who would be doing my hair in my home state. She's also warm and unpretentious. I just can't say enough good things about her - really, one of my favorite stylists ever. I just recently moved down to NC and was very very nervous about finding a new stylist. I had a "usual" one that I went to for years where I used to live. So I made the appointment the same week my Mother-In-Law and my Sister-In-Law were in town visiting. That way I would have them by my side and I knew that they would be brutally honest with me. The sytist I was assign to was April R. and I have to say it was the most pleasant experience. She was great with helping to choose what color would compliment me the best. She also took direction with the way I wanted my hair cut very well and made suggestions that took the cut to a FABULOUS level. The entire staff was very professional and friendly. The end result was great looking hair. So much so that my in-laws made appointments for themselves before their vacation was over. Haircolorxperts at the Arboretum will definitely be my "usual" from now on. Pros: Atmosphere is great, Staff is very friendly & professional Cons: The Arboretum is not open on Sundays. more

My anxiety level when I visit any salon is ridiculous but since I put myself in Marlo Jenning?s hands at Haircolorxperts, I have had an amazing, relaxed experience. I have visited Marlo three times now and have left their satisfied each time. She has helped me to finally enjoy changing my look instead of dreading it! I am a huge fan of Haircolorxperts and would recommend this salon to anyone wanting a relaxed and completely enjoyable experience. more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Haircolorxperts. Whenever I go into an appointment, I am extremely confident that I will leave the salon with the perfect cut, color and style. I have had Vickie as my stylist numerous times and she has done a phenomenal job! She takes her time and gives me her undivided attention, guaranteeing me a wonderful experience.
