Haircolorxperts at the Arboretum

I went in for a trim and highlights and came out with 3 inches cut off my hair and you couldn't even tell I got highlights. All around my face you could see the roots. That's not the worst of it - I asked for layers around my face - side swipe bangs but not short. I came out with box bangs that were up to my eyes - the same length! It was awful. So I called and the manager said to come back in for a redo from a different stylist. Ashley Adkins spent her time with me and did her best to fix my hair - there was nothing she could do for my new unwanted short bangs but she did a great job on the cut and color. She was amazed herself at what an awful job the other stylist had done. Anyways - I paid $125 plus $10 tip by CC the first time around and then I tipped Ashley cash but left the $10 bill with the receptionist, Brooke Holland, because Ashley was already with another client. A couple day later I spoke to Ashley on Facebook telling her thank you for her time and to see if she got the cash tip I left her. She said she didn't (but that it was ok)!!! It's not ok - I know $10 isn't a lot but that's not the point. I am furious - I mean who knows how many other tips those hard working hair stylist have gotten stolen from them by someone who sits on her butt answering the phones?! I am so mad! I called the manager immediately to tell her this and I still haven't gotten a phone call back - 1 week later. Maybe the receptionist wasn't the one who stole the tip but someone did and I wanted the manager to know so that she could protect her stylist from this happening. She must not care because I haven't received a call back OR maybe the receptionist who I left the complaint with was the same girl who stole the tip and she never gave the manager the message? I wont stop writing bad reviews and telling people about this until Ashley gets taken care of and the person who stole the tip is fired. Pros: Ashley the girl who tried to fix my hair is the only pro of the salon. Cons: SOMEONE IS STEALING THE STYLISTS TIPS! THE MANAGER DOESN'T CARE! more

I have lived in the Triangle for almost 3 years now. I have tried several local salons that are "Color Xperts" only to find that they are so not experts! A friend of mine has been seeing Renee for a few years and she kept telling me to give her a try. I went to see Renee last week and my friend was right, she is phenominal! I will never go to see anyone else. If you are new to the area (or just not happy with your current stylist) you should go see Renee, I promise you will not regret it. I have been to several salons in the area and this salon is the best!! I see Marlo, she is very knowledgeable about color and has a great eye for style , she will tell you what colors work best for your skin and eyes, and what haircut is best for your face shape! I have never been dissatisfied! Go and see for yourself! Pros: EVERYTHING! Cons: NONE more

I originally submitted this incorrectly for the Maynard Road location but am reposting because Lily's at the Arboretum... I've been looking for YEARS for someone that would do something I liked with my hair. Found one person but she moved to Charlotte after a few visits and I started my search again. With Lily at Hair Color Xperts I've found my new person and I'm very happy with my hair again! I asked for her opinion and she was very helpful with her ideas for the cut and color. Every morning when I do my hair now, I'm very happy with both the style and color. My daughter went to Lily first and liked her hair, so gave her a great recommendation. I got back from my second appointment since finding this salon and it was fantastic! I love the way my hair looks, from the color to the cut. When I got home, my husband was blown away and is also happy that I found this place. I had to write a review because I went there based on the glowing reviews that I read. Being new in town, I took a shot in the dark and was so happy to find light at the end of the hair style tunnel. The staff is very friendly as well, the atmosphere is pleasant and light. You really get quality service and products without feeling like you're in a "stuffy" place. Thanks so much Michele! She did a fabulous job I can't emphasise enough how much better I feel and look having a true professional take the time to get it just right. Highly recommended, and worth every penny. I have been having my hair done by Debra for about a year now and I could not be happier. I have very hard to color grey hair and it took me years to find someone to get the color right .I wear it dark but dont want it to look fake and Debra does such a good job making it look so natural .I am in front of people all the time with my job and feel like everyone is looking at my hair and since Debra has been doing it I know it looks great more

I made an appointment with a stylist based on the reviews she had recieved on this site. When I arrived for my appointment I was told my appointment had been changed and it was now with Debra. At first I was a little concerned but was reassured that Debra was very good. They were right Debra sat down and listened to my concerns and made me feel very comfortable we sat a goal for my hair and she told me it might take a while to grow my hair into the shape I wanted she did what she could to get me going in the right direction and I am very happy with my hair and look foward to working with her to get my hair where I want it. more

If I were goint to rate just Lauren then she would have 5 stars for sure. The first time I moved here I came to NC I went here and had an okay experience. Then I found April and loved her, after helpless attempts to find her I decided to try one more time. Lauren was wonderful, I had wanted to cut my hair short for sometime, when I finally called for an appt. I was informed April had left, I was so upset, spent days trying to find her, I was not going to cut my hair off with someone new. I finally went to Lauren from the moment I walked in I knew I could do it and it would be fine. She was as excited as me and my hair turned out wonderful. My only downside was on Christmas Eve I came to have my hair cut with April and that went lovely but the manager there that day made me feel uncomfortable and tried to push products on me that I did not have the money for. However I can now say that I am glad that I gave it one more shot cause I will now follow Lauren wherever she works. Recently I decided to take 12 inches off my hair and I absolutely love it! My experience with Renee is always relaxing and highly enjoyable. She cut my hair the exact way I wanted it and I am very pleased with how easily I can manage it with a newborn. I recommend everyone to go to Renee! more

I wrote a review a while back but wanted to refresh it =) I have seen alot of post about April and her skill and Im sure she is great but Lauren will amaze you with what she can do!!! Not only can she do it but she knows what you want before you even say it!! And makes it look ten thousand times better than a regular old coloring. She will take the time to teach you how to do your hair...because I cant!... and she is so great to talk to so its like going to see a buddy! First of all, I am a guy. April gave me a haircut in January when I wanted to try a new style and she was really, really good. Every bit as good as everyone on here claims. When I went back in March, they told me April didn't work there anymore and had left without any information. I had Renee do my cut instead, and it wasn't as good an experience. Something's fishy about April leaving without a word. I am hoping she's still in the area and has just started her own salon or something. I am trying to locate her, so if anybody has her info, please let me know. Cons: April quit more

Based on all the great reviews, I had to give this place a try... My expectations were exceeded!! Marlo was my stylist or should I say IS my stylist, she listened to me and gave me excactly what I wanted which was fabulous looking hair, I feel 10 years younger! Thanks Marlo! I have seen several of the stylist at Haircolor Xperts, and I have been impressed by all of them. They have always been very professional and always knowledgeable and informative. I will never go anywhere else to get my hair done. They have not only met, but exceeded my expectations every time I have gone there. Renee' and Lauren are great! I highly recommend Haircolor Xperts! I have sent several of my friends there, and they have all said the same thing: We will never go anywhere else. GO and give them a try. Pros: Salon is beautiful and the staff is great! I have had more than 3 appointments canceled because April was sick. I hate that she has health issues but it is very inconvenient for me to make an appointment and constantly reschedule or have to be canceled. She is a great beautician and a nice person but her problems should not be mine. I will never schedule another appointment with her and I probably will not ever go back to Hair Color Experts. It is very unprofessional. I don't understand how they can put up with it. It has to be a problem for more people than just me. I have read all of the reviews and don't believe for a minute that they are all true!!!!! Pros: Everyone was nice to me. They seemed to understand how much it inconvenienced me. Debra is my new best friend. I am new to the area and havent had my hair colored in nearly a year! It was a mess! Debra took the time to make my hair color rock!!!! Im sure I'll be seeing alot of her because I'll never let my hair go so long again. more

gave it five stars...cause i wanted this to be the first review people read... i've been going to hair color experts for years. I used to love it. Then all of my favorite stylist left. From Julie to Renee, Lauren, Paige, etc. I ended up making an appointment with a masters level stylist- (Drew), which is 135 for highlights. Drew did a partial on me then charged me for a full. I walked out spending around 150 and went home to find that the back of my head was barely highlighted. It usually takes over two hours to highlight and dry my hair. About an hour to place the foils and the color to lift. I was done in like an hour...total..blow dryed and everything. I had Angela fix my hair...she was amazing. I felt horrible she had to fix his mistakes. I even went to 3 other salons who said that the job was "half done" and looked more like it was done by a student, or "rushed through". When I heard Drew was made "artistic director" and has only been doing hair for two years...I left thesalon and went elsewhere. Since i've been going to hair color experts over 15 stylists have left...I never thought I would think so negatively of a salon. If I ever go back...it will be to the Cameron Village location. The Weston location has gone down hill by far. Just because I'm younger doesn't give a stylist a right to rush through doing highlights and think I wouldn't notice. I've been spending the money for years. Even his co-workers said he prob. rushed because I was younger and deemed "naive". Esp. someone who has been a client for years. The rest of the reviews...none of those sytlists are there anymore...and for a good reason. oh...and if the date is listed wrong I got my hair done only a few months ago there...some reason my review was posted as being written in 08... As an Actor I have to have a stylist who can pull off any cut or look. Shannon has made me look the part for every audition and every film. She has nearly 20 years exp. and has turned the science into her own craft. I adore Lily. She is so great! I really like her. She fixed my color. Someone else had jacked it up badly. She made it better. I was so upset and did not know what to do. She made it look wonderful. I will follow her anywhere. I will never let anyone else do my hair. She has a great personality too. She made me laugh when all I wanted to do was cry. THANKS LILY!!!!!!!!! Renee Adkins has doing my hair for several years and she is the best. My friends and I followed her here and we will follow her anywhere. This salon is so nice and the women she works with are great. She does haircolor and haircuts and I will never let anyone else do my hair. She is patient and understanding with the occasional scheduling issues. She makes herself available when possible.
