Great meats and even salad! 4/19/2007

WONDERFUL~! Meats are tasty, Salads are glorious, staff is friendly and handsome ;). This is what all restaurants should stride to meet. Just go and you will go back. Pros: Great Food! Cons: Having to breath in between plates :) more

Good, not great 4/13/2007

I have been here a handful of times and the service has always been consistent. The side dishes and salad bar are great! Can't say much about their meats. Only some of the meats were juciy and flavorful. Totally worth $40 for lunch if you're a carnivore. Dinner is a bit much. Nonetheless, I shall be back! Pros: Service, ambience, side dishes Cons: Value, parking more

UPSCALE CHURRASCARIA 4/10/2007

ALTHOUGH I DONT WANT TO GO TO A CHURRASCARIA FOR THE SALAD, THEIR BAR WAS PHENOMENAL. THE MEAT WAS OK AND VARIED BUT COULD BE MORE TENDER AND I GOT A REALLY BAD STOMACH ACHE AFTERWARDS. THE SMALL SIDE DISHES [THE CORN FRENCH FRIES, BANANA, MASHED POTATOES] WERE AMAZING AND WERE CONSTANTLY GETTING REPLACED WITH FRESH ONES BY THE STAFF. THE MAITRE'D WAS RUDE BUT THE SERVERS WERE VERY HELPFUL. THEIR VAST WINE COLLECTION STRETCHES FROM THE FLOOR TO THE HIGH CEILING AND THE PAINTINGS ON THE WALL WERE A NICE TOUCH. Pros: SALAD BAR, DECOR, STAFF Cons: COULD IMPROVE ON THE MEAT more

I fantasize about this place... 3/30/2007

Fogo De Chao - HOLLA!!! I went here for a Christmas party. It was so freaking good! The meat was awesome, so many choices. And your plate never has to go empty! The salad bar was amazing. Not a traditional salad bar, with lettuce and toppings and whatnot, but awesome veggies, cheeses, bread, oh, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The meat is great, plus there were some cute ""meat skewer dudes"" which made dining even better. The drinks? Oh, HELLO - high quality. I had a margarita and a mojito. My friend had a mojito and a rum & coke. Those things were delicious, and very worth the money. The deserts were fantastic - humongous. This place is a treat - I can't wait to go back. Pros: everything Cons: pricey, but worth it more

Great Memories! 3/27/2007

When I lived in Chicago I went to this fine establishment more than a handful of times. If you dont know too much about this restaurant, read the editors review. The obvious all you can eat is definitely worth the money alone. If you're going to complain about 60$ being a bit much, well you probably shouldnt have made a rez there, knowing its in Beverly Hills and all. Back to the review.... \r \r \r Made a rez for 8:30 on a Friday about 2 weeks prior and passed a ton of people who didnt have sense to make a reservation. The Valet parking was ridiculously packed, so I parked on the street about a half-block away. Got to our table and started with the house specialty and had various other beef, pork, and lamb products. Bought a bottle of wine (only 60$) and had after dinner shots( about $50 for two) and everything was pleasing. \r \r I live in Vegas now, so its a short drive or flight away from great food, and its not like a Mcdonalds where they have one every other corner. (11 in the world, 7 in the states) To get this kind of food at a very affordable price in one of the most expensive places in the world is like a god-send. Sure you can be cheap and get lunch for half off, but theres really no ambience then.. you MUST go at night (unless you have bratty kids that would whine about the late hour). There are absolutely no problems with the servers at all. Never had to ask once for anything, and that being in there with a full house. Server got $50 tip because he sure earned it. \r \r If you go to L.A. or California for that matter dont even think twice, make the rez and eat like a king for less than I spend on a pair of shoes. \r \r 10/10 Pros: Terrific Food, Great Service, CHEAP!!!!!!! Cons: Parking, but the good outweigh the bad in this case... I'd walk 10 miles to get there..... more

Excellent food and lots of it! Great service! 3/19/2007

This restaurant came highly recommended to me, and has exceeded my expectations. I have eaten here at least five times. Never dissapointed. If I could afford it, I would be eating here more frequently. But the food is well worth the price! Lunch is $30.00 a head, and dinner is $60.00 a head. (without drinks or dessert). But you get alot of top quality meats and awsome salad bar (like no other).\r \r Amazing meats (13-15 different kinds from lamb chops to bacon wrapped filet mignon). All you can eat. Served hot off the grill. By far the best salad bar in Los Angeles. Top quality. Fresh. Side dishes that come with your dinner are great (fried banana, light pastry like cheese bread, fried polenta)!!!\r \r I have never had room for dessert, but they look delicious. \r \r Service is exceptional. \r \r This is my favorite L.A. restaurant!!! Pros: Awsome food, service, ambience Cons: Price - but really worth it! more

Copious amounts of colon/artery clogging MEAT! OH GLORIOUS MEAT!!! 3/5/2007

Went here this past Saturday with two other guys, yeah don't bring women, cuz it'd be a waste of money. It was relatively empty because we went fairly early, around 5:30 and were seated promptly. That's when the carnage began with bacon wrapped filet mignon, beef rib meat, lamb, pork, beef tenderloin, beef sirloin and a number of other succulent and juicy cuts of beef. The pork unfortuneatly was dry and I wouldn't recommend it. Servers were pretty quick to bring the skewers of meat once you had the green side of your card up. Plantains were probably the best I ever had. I definitely don't think that it was worth $52.50 to eat here, however. Two of us at the table had the papaya cream for dessert which was pretty good but unfinishable due to the obscene amount of meat we had just eaten. Ironically or funny, was that the best thing about the meal was the coffee! Easily the best coffee I've ever had hands down. Don't fill up on the sides or the salad bar in order to have enough room for what you really came there for...meat.\r Addendum: Went there this past Thursday, 3/15/07 with a larger group, women included and they held their own nicely, thank you, and had an even better experiance! Hostess remembered us from before and went out of her way to get our party situated especially with 1 extra party member not on the reservation. I had called earlier and a gentleman I spoke with concerning corkage fees was more than happy to give us a 2 for 1 corkage fee without me even saying anything! This time the waiters brought out slabs of straight filet mignon without the bacon and perfectly grilled ribeye steaks which they didn't have last time. Needless to say we were quite ecstatic for these two extra cuts of meat in addition to their other great meat. Still haven't tried their salad bar, but I'm sure it's fantastic just by the quantity of food they have there as well. Go and be treated like a king, because the service is as fantastic as the meat!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Great coffee, quick service albeit rushed, and obscene amounts of meat. Cons: Check your cholesterol and assume a high fiber diet post Fogo. more

yum 3/5/2007

i'll use any excuse to eat here. they seat you fast and from my experience, even without a reservation. my friends and i love this place so much that we stayed there longer then 3 other tables surrounding us. if i didn't worry about my weight, i'd be coming here very week. the plantains are DELICIOUS. the brazilian cheese bread.. i want to go in the back and steal every bit they have. and these aren't even the main attraction. the meat they serve is drool worthy. I don't spend much time at the salad bar since everytime i go, i make sure i have enough room for the steaks and plantains and bread. greens, tomato and other things can wait. more

AMAZING food, good service...a WONDERFUL experience 2/19/2007

i've been to several churascarias and this is by far the BEST. best cuts of meat, very tender and i was able to get my meat the way i like it...RARE! a lot of the restaurants whe serve the meat in this way usually overcook it but not this place. my favorite is the filet mignon and the house steak. they also have filet wrapped in bacon, prine rib, lamb, pork, garlic beef, several types of chicken and sausage. the salad bar also has so many good options, but i like to stick to meat. service is excellent, wait staff is friendly and informative. if you enjoy meat, you must try this place. it beats all the other brazilian restaurants by a landslide! as for the price, this place will set you back about $50/person for dinner which is actually reasonable considering the fact that a prime cut at most steakhouses will run about $30-40, a la carte. Pros: MEAT, service, ambience, options more

Meat Lovers Paradise 1/19/2007

Make sure you go on an empty stomach and don't bother with the salad bar- it's great, but once the meat starts coming you'll regret it!!! Make sure you try a little bit of everything and eat slowly!!! it seems a bit chaotic since the waiters are all over the place, stopping at your table one after the other... so make sure you use the red side of your card often! the desert was also amazing... easily one of the best flan I've ever had!!! Drinks were also strong! Make sure you head to the bar first and grab a drink and a couple of those yummy cheesy bread rolls!!! Pros: Meat Meat Meat more

So good?impeccable service and meat I?ll dream about! 1/10/2007

I?ve been to quite a few of these Brazilian places where they wander around with every kind of speared BBQ?d meat you can imagine. But this place truly is the best I?ve been to. First off, the restaurant itself is lovely (a little bright though) with a waterfall fountain at the entryway. All of the staff is extremely attentive, friendly, and professional. They have an absolutely amazing wine list with several fabulous wines you can get by the glass. A salad bar is available with lots of veggies and cheeses, and even more meats! But I caution?save room for what is coming to your table! I will have dreams about the meat?everything was perfect! In addition to several delectable cuts of lamb, chicken, and beef (we didn?t have room to try everything) they also serve some delicious sides including grilled plantains and polenta. When the green side is up, the servers come fast and furious and it is tempting to eat manically in effort not to miss anything. But take your time; don?t be afraid to flip to red. If there is something you really want that you haven?t seen or you missed it, the staff is happy to bring it to you by request! This is an expensive outing, but worth it for a nice evening out or special event. Pros: Best Brazilian food, Great Service, Great Wine list, Valet Parking Cons: Expensive more

Give this Churrascaria the Green Side Up 1/4/2007

I owed a couple friends dinner, so I thought to myself where a hungry, meat-craving male college student would go had he the choice of going anywhere he wanted for dinner. Enter Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian Churrascaria on the famed Restaurant Row in Beverly Hills. This South American meat-mecca is the steakhouse for the overconsuming generation, and it seems to appease our gluttony with unnerving ease. After being a couple minutes late for reservation, they quickly find us some seats and we are whisked away to a luxurious dining room with earthy tones and plenty of wood trimmings. The salad bar is quite standard; serving sundried tomatoes, leafy greens, a variety of cheeses, dried meats, etc. If you've read any of the other reviews, you probably understand how to dine here, but the waiter will explain it to you again. The green side means go, the red side means stop. Be careful when you flip that red coin-- green means go. These servers take attentiveness to the next level. Our server/assigned host (Jose, who, despite his generic name is quite distinguishable from the others with his energetic demeanor) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable; not to mention he knows his wine, and managed to pick out a Chilean Cabernet for us which was quite delectable and matched very well with the hearty meats. The experience was something to remember, and definitely something you should try. Some cuts of meat you should definitely consider: Picanha (It is shaped like the letter ""C""), Bottom Sirloin, Filet Mignon, and the Pork Loin (so juicy and tender it will make you believe in God). Here are some prices (as of 1/3/07, subject to change): Dinner 52.50/person (prix fixe), Valet 4.50. Drinks are extra. Extensive wine list. Dress code is ""business casual"" on weekdays which usually means no t-shirts, no shorts. They have a semi private dining room for 80, private dining room for 20. Reservations recommended. On La Cienega (on the left if you are heading north). Pros: Delicious Meat Selection, Extensive Wine List, Great Service, Nice Environment Cons: It was a bit hard to find, but that's about it. more

true example of what chrrasco is in brazil. 1/1/2007

Best in the west\r first I cant understand why people who live in the most diverse city in the world dare to compare fogo with a steak house. Fogo is a true churrascaria. being to all brazilian churrasco's in LA, it the best. they have money backing their fresh variety, which is hard to maintain with the way americans are used to eating, eat fast, drink fast, and leave. you must interact with the servers and tell them your taste of meat and above all, control the quantity of food you intake, unlike some reviews.\r true professionals, true brazilian cooks that have not fled from brazil. more

Great service, Nice variety, Meat Quality: can't be compared with a good steakhouse's 12/30/2006

Fogo de Chao is probably among the most talked about Brazilian Restaurant in LA. The location is great, the service is very good, and it has a good variety of appetizers and meat. But the meat quality should not be compared with Ruth's Chris or Mastro's, the meat can be a little dry and not as tender. Anyway, try the Beef Ancho, I think it's the best among any other meat they serve. Afterall, Fogo de Chao is a good place to dine in, if you are either very hungry and are looking for a wide variety of meat. But if you are looking for a place to eat some great steaks, find a steakhouse. more

Best Brazilian in LA 12/27/2006

Definitely the best Brazilian in LA! Great, great meat, excellent service, you don't have to ask for anything ...\r A little expensive, but it is worth it! \r Go hungry, and don't expect being able to do anything afterwards, you'll be definitely too full;)\r Highly recommended. Pros: Meat, service Cons: parking: crazy more

meat. good. 12/2/2006

pork chops with parmesan cheese, sausage, filet wrapped in bacon, chicken wrapped in bacon, rib eye, sirloin, lamb chops... oh my. we just got home and i can barely move! everything was really good. definitely go hungry and ignore the salad bar - it was fancy enough, but not what you go for. the cheesy bread puff thingys were a little salty and the mashed potatoes kept getting replenished, which was kinda dangerous, i think we ended up eating like three and a half dishes. we were a bit ambitious and ordered dessert (get the molten chocolate cake!) and coffee, too. next time, we'll wait some between dinner and dessert. we'll definitely go again but not for awhile, it's just too much meat! Pros: attentive service, quality meat, huge wine selection Cons: kind of a crazy valet waiting area more

Best all you can eat 11/14/2006

I plan to go to this place a month in advance. It is expensive $$$$ but worth every penny. Lighten up on the carbs so you can try all the meeats. This place is out of this world!Great for special events but i would love to go there more frequently. Go for late lunch or early dinner and this can be your only portion on a saturday night. Make sure you make reservations! Pros: food Cons: expensive more

Meatfest 11/13/2006

This place was meat overload, but not in a bad way. I really enjoyed the unusual salad bar (the make-your-own caprese was brilliant) but it was the meat we were there for. The system works like this: you have a coaster on your table, one side red and one side green- when you are ready for the meat to appear, you flip your coaster to green and the servers come to you with an assortment of skewers of fabulous protein- garlic beef, chicken wrapped in bacon, lamb chops... it was all wonderful and accompanied by a few tasty sides- mashed potatoes, polenta sticks, and fried sweet plantains. I wouldn't be able to handle it every day but it was fun for a special treat. Pros: Great quality meat, unusual salads, great service Cons: Hard to stop eating! more
