Dwight Auto Driving School

Instructor was courteous and helpful in the driving lessons and gave a good pre-licensing class at their school - same teacher at class as in car. You have to pay attention but it really helps, especially if you'll be driving in the city (and they're in upper Manhattan so it would have to be). I took the road test in New Rochelle and passed first try! Fair prices too, got 1/2 off the class cause I'm a student. more

I'm not sure what the person below had a problem with. When I had my lesson and road test with George, he was very pleasant and helpful, took me on some not-quiet-but-not-busy roads in Riverdale, and over 45 minutes got me prepared for the road test. I got a little better at parking just during that time period and knew how turn not so wide from one lane to the next. And I PASSED the road test as well so that was cool. I'm glad I went to the school and hope to recommend it to my other friends in the Riverdale/Inwood area. more

The instructor George tried to ""teach"" me in the busiest sections of upper Mountbatten when school just let off. (I don't think you're allowed to learn driving in the city). This happened for all of my appointments. It was a nightmare trying to avoid hitting the kids walking and bicycling around. I could barely move the car faster than 10 mph, and most of the time I was sitting at a red light waiting for traffic. In addition he spoke incoherently and was unable to make any constructive remarks. All he did was repeat ""go faster, go faster"" as if he was oblivious to the kids' scared glares of almost have been ran over. I couldn't learn anything. I asked for a refund of my remaining lessons when I realied it was impossible to pass with this school. more

The teacher was all ways late! I should have known from the 5 hour class that this place was a hot mess. The office had to call him 4 times before he showed up. He was a mess when he showed up. He didn't even cover all the material. Then after calling me a week before my first lesson at 11pm (yes at night who calls someone that late) to confirm my appointment he didn't even show up. Picked me up on time, got the intro special ($11 for first lesson, pretty amazing), and got my license in very quick time. *Excellent* prices and service: A+ Pros: 7 days a week driving service, prompt, patient, low prices Cons: not open weekends more
