My long time stylist in a prominent hair salon in san mateo has left and I was off on a quest for a replacement. I heard from a friend about Color Room and decided to give it a try. They set me up with Walid one of their new additions. The service was great, right in time, a drink, washed my hair before and after, very nice atmosphere. Walid was great, very precise (the guy knows how to hold scissors). I'm glad I found a new place right on the first try!!! Highly recommend. more

I was looking for a good hairdresser for a long time and visited several places. Yesterday I finally found one in Color Room San Mateo. Jean Marie did a a great job with the highlights , the haircut and the blow-dry. He is very professional, you could see from the way he works that he is a natural talent, he is a real artist who knows exactly what he is doing. The owners just made some changes and I understood that they are very picky about the new people that they hire, they have high standards and it shows. The place looks great and has a great atmosphere, you can relax and be sure that you are in good hands. I am very pleased and feel that at last I found my place. more

I was so amazaed the first time that I went to this place i just wanted to get my nails done but I liked them so much that i decided to go back and cut my hair. They showed proffesionalism and the place has a really well decorated look that feels likes a welcoming place for anyone who wants to get a good service. The lady that decorated my nails understood exactly what kind of decoration i wanted and she achieved that modern and abstract style that I wanted. Corey is great!!! She's the only person I trust my nails with. You don't need to worry, stress out, or even be scared about get your nails done by her because Corey knows her stuff. She's artistic, passionate about nails, easy going and friendly. There is no need to be shy with her or worry about being picky about your nails. She's willing and able to do any design you can think of. If you can't think of any design there is no need to worry because she has already made nail designs for you. Last week, It was my first time visiting this particular salon, and I was absolutely amazed by the homey, relaxing feeling that the setting made me feel. The environment was very enticing, along with the clean-swept floors and fancy decorations everywhere. I met COREY, a very friendly manicurist, who definitely did a great job, not only in making my nails look so glamorous, but also for making my day!! =) She was very accommodating, entertaining and fun to talk to. Corey is an expert with nail designs, as she herself is an artist. It's amazing to see how much passion this lady has with the line of work that she has, making sure that she does an excellent job pertaining to her clients' needs. I loved my first experience! I already scheduled my next appointment. Rochelle is so great! I'm one of those people who've tried alot of hair stylists and have never been truly happy, but I finally found her! I've been going to Rochelle for a while now and I dont think I'll be changing stylists anytime soon, if ever! She does such an amazing job on my highlights and haircut, and she's always fun to chat with too. Everyone in the salon is really friendly and it's a bright beautiful place with a good vibe. I moved here from Miami, Florida where I was seeing the same wonderful colorist for 6 years. I was terrifed to try someone new out here! i found rochelle at the colour room and i am extremely happy with her! i've been seeing her now for a little over a year and everytime i do, its perfection! the salon is cute, has good trash magazines, they are totally not snobby and there is no sales pressure! i am constantly getting compliments on my hair from random people so i've started carrying rochelle's business cards with me. i highly recommend the colour room and rochelle inparticular. my color is not easy to do (several shades of red) and she always does it right! oh, and they are extremely reasonable. tell her april sent you! I moved to the Peninsula from San Francisco 13 years ago. And I've never found a stylist that came close to what I had in the City. But then I discovered Deborah at the Colour Room. If you want a stylish look that compliments your skin tones, you must see Deborah at the Colour Room. She came up with the perfect combination of colors that highlight my very fair complexion. And the cut, well, let's just say I've never had better. It is stylish without being too trendy. It is so easy to maintain; I don't have to spend 45 minutes trying to duplicate the look. Deborah paid attention to every detail including suggesting I have my eyebrows tinted. Now, they not only match my hair color, they draw attention to my eyes and not my wrinkles. Nothing feels better than walking out of a salon knowing you look FOXY! Am I right ladies? Too many times I've left salons feeling as though I over paid for average work. As I mature, and no longer wish to be an experiment in a production line, I was relieved to stumble upon the Colour Room. There, not only did Catherine (the owner) listen to what I had to say about my hair, but offered some exciting options. I walked in as an over processed blonde, but left with a gorgeous deep chestnut crown! And the cut....well let's just say it made my husband MELT when he saw me. After a few visits, I wanted to go even bolder with the new me and got these amazing extensions put in. NO ONE knew it was not my real hair. It was done so professionally. I had some gray so I went for a consultation. Deborah seemed nice and suggested I go permanent to cover the grays. I had the color put in and was happy leaving the salon, since Deborah said there were no more grays. When I got home I took a close look and saw that about 50% of my gray was still there (I didn't have much to begin with, just over my ears). I called Catherine, the owner, and explained my disappointment. She said basically the color was not left on long enough and sometimes a dark blonde will not cover grays very well. Deborah never told me there was a possibility they wouldn't be covered. Catherine offered to fix the problem for me. So I made my second trip to the salon. Catherine treated me terribly when I was there and even began the conversation by saying the gray really wasn't that bad. Whether it was bad or not was not the issue, it should not have been there at all. A client should not have to find gray hair at home after being told it is gone. If I was given an explanation when I was leaving about the gray not being covered that would have been fine...next time we'll leave it in longer, but I was not told this. The owner was very unsympathetic and made me feel that I was making a big deal out of nothing. I felt very disrespected. I am very disappointed and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Make and appointment with Deborah for the best hair cut and color you have ever had. I have baby-fine hair and Deborah makes my hair look as full as it has ever been. As for the color, if it wasn't for my wrinkles, you would swear it was natural. Deborah spends the time it takes to individualize the cut and color for each client. I have never received as many compliments on my hair as I have since Deborah became my stylist. Additionally, the staff of the Colour Room are professional, friendly and dedicated to making your experience as pleasant as possible. Hurry and get your name on Deborah's client list. My oldest sister recommended the Colour Room to me to do my hair. My hair is blck and I originally had light brown highlights. The lady who did my highlights always put me somewhat blonde highlights even when I specifinally asked for brow. When I went to the color room, I wanted to color my hair all one shade of brown. When the lady was through with my hair, I was very happy because she did exactly what Iasked her. Because i have always had a bad experience with hair coloring, I was very pleased with the job. She also starightened my hair, and did an excellent job. My hair stayed straight for a few dayas, and the est part about it was that she did not use any product when she was starightening it, so, my hair never looked clumpy or oily at all. THe prices are not bad at all and I would recommend this place to all of my family and friends because I was very happy with the results. more

My hair color was a complete disaster before I found out about this amazing salon. I had tried other salons in the past (in San Francisco, Chicago, and Scottsdale), and paid a fortune for not such great results. The owner, Catherine, and her team are experts in color and cutting hair! Many salons I had visited claimed to be experienced colorists, but none have compared with the colorists at The Colour Room. People are always complimenting me on my hair color and hair cut. I highly recommend them! more

I had my color done by Sean, who took the time to go over my color options and did an excellent job tinting my hair. Annette took care of my new cut and, since I've had some interesting cuts applied to my naturally curly hair, I was very impressed with her listening and applying my requests with such wonderful results. The atmoshphere was professional, yet the staff was engaging and approachable. The pricing was on par with similar salon settings in the area. Leave yourself 15 minutes to find parking (there is a parking garage charging $.25/hour on its second floor within 3 minutes of salon). If paying with credit card, you must use cash for tip. I was totally impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the fantastic job that both Catherine (color and cut) and Lila (Bow Dries) has done with my hair. I visited the Colour Room after reading the reviews from insider pages. Catherine recolored my hair and atraightened my hair with a blow dryer and a flat iron. She was very friendly and I knew that she took pride in her work. She is very good at what she does. My hair was kinda orangy from too much color so she fixed it up for me. And I liked the way she blew dried my hair. It was soft and natural and not frizzy. The technician that washed my hair, Sarah, was very sweet. I will definitely return. They did a great job. more
