Awesome integrity 7/28/2012

This one took me by surprise! My elderly 85 year old mom lives in San Antonio. I received a phone call two days ago from a young gentleman named Cesar. He explained to me that my mom had called their company out for AC service and discovered that the repairs would be in the thousands. My mom decided it would be best to just replace the unit and after sitting with Cesar decided she wanted the top of the line system that money could buy. The most honest phone call i believe i ever received came through the line. Cesar had asked my mom if she had children in the area. She said my son is in Dallas. Cesar asked if he could contact me cause he just wanted to explain some technical details that someone would be able to explain if needed at a later date. Cesar then removes himself away from my mom and tells me, "I would love to take 16,000.00 dollars from your mom, but i think the features are just going to confuse her. Also, if an elderly person is going to spend that kind of money i would like a relative involved". he recommended she just get a middle of the line with easy controls so as not to confuse her. 8400.00 was his offer and professional advice. I got on the phone and explained to my mom what we were going to do and Champion AC installed it the next day. All i can say is "WOW"! So many companies would have just taken 16000.00 dollars from my mom and ran. But this company has great people or their training must just be awesome. If you are in the San Antonio area i would recommend them. I tried to get them to come to Dallas, but they said that was a little to far. more

Apparently my air conditioning unit was blowing warm air all day while I was at work. When I arrived home this afternoon my thermostat read 88. Obviously I was in need of an air conditioning repair. I found Champion A/C on the internet and decided to give them a call. Within an hour I had one of their employees knocking at my front door. Richard was very professional and knowledgable. He found the problem within about 20 minutes and then continued to look over the entire system. He informed me that my blower fan motor was drawing high amperage and needed to be replaced. Also the air filter needed to be replaced. Richard's ac repair was very good and didn't take too much time but i'm glad he was thorough. Thank you Champion AC. more

Quick response to interior temps climbing 7/25/2012

Champion has always been just a call away and worked with me on scheduling times that we agreed upon. Many times the tech arrived early. The tech's have always been respectful and enlightening to why either of my A/C units were needing service. Cost effective and parts in stock on the truck. A couple of times something would need to be ordered and I received a call when part was available for install. I will continue to use Champion and recommend at any opportunity to anyone. Thanks Always for our comforts of knowing you are a call away. more

Service Tune-up was done on a Wednesday, on the following Sunday my AC was not working properly, I called them back to see if they could come back to see what was wrong and was told it would be $199 for a technician to come out although they were at my home three days before and everything was rated good. So I had to call my home warranty for them to send someone out and all it needed was freon, which they said they had added on Wednesday. I would never recommend them to anyone nor use them again. more

A difficult problem fixed 7/19/2012

We have a 5 year old 5T Trane AC, where the same module has failed for the 5th time. The original installer came out after each failure to replace the module but never really looked at the root cause of the problem. Richard Grubbs at Champion AC took the issue seriously and checked out the whole system. He identified the failure to be a result of a return duct that was too small, causing undue strain on the motor module. They fixed it all, and Im very pleased with their service. They gave me fair price, and most importantly, provided excellent workmanship. I would recommend Champion AC to my family and friends but would specifically ask for Mr. Richard Grubbs. more

Today, after a year and a half of trying to work with Champion AC, stressed out, exhausted, miserable, and flat out disgusted I am sitting down to write my review. Since purchasing my unit for $14k in May of last year, to this day 07/16/12 I still do not have a unit that has passed the city inspection or for that matter consistently worked. Champion AC has blamed me for everything from having an old house (something that was the same when they gave me their quote and took my $) to bad housekeeping, having 2 short haired dogs and most recently going on vacation.\r After finding out they improperly vented the exhaust from the unit into my fireplace (city inspector told me about this on one of the five failed inspections) creating the potential for an explosion had I used my fire place I called the owner concerned. He asked me what the problem was, called me "argumentative and uncivil" mind you at this point I had owned the unit for less than one year and it still had not passed city inspection , yet somehow had "passed" Champions own inspection and had its "routine" maintenance that I also paid for. Most recently I have returned home from a short vacation to find my AC not working correctly again, (apparently the service man told me they didnt know how to secure my unit to the home properly due to its age so they just left if unsecured). This irresponsible act has caused my kitchen to become flooded from an improperly installed drain pan and tubing, which has caused severe damage to my brand new kitchen floors, electrical system, ceiling fixture (fan) and ceiling (not to mention the mold concerns) and now my failing health due to all the stress from this disaster. Champion has forced me to live in subpar conditions while they have had my payment in full ($14,000) from the very start. I have called numerous times to try and get my AC inspected and installed correctly with no help at all. I have been lied to, insulted, yelled at, misled and deceived by this company. At one point (at the beginning of this summer) I begged Champion to simply remove the unit they had installed and just return my money, so that I could pay someone else to install a unit that would work and pass the citys inspection. The owner laughed at me and said that would never happen and that this was not his first rodeo and he knew how to handle people like me (what does that even mean? Someone who simply wants a unit that actually works and does not cause severe damage to his home?). For months now I have only asked Champion AC to fix/repair or replace the damaged items the incorrectly installed unit they installed in my home has caused. So far all I have gotten is the runaround; several thousands of dollars in damages and several lost days from my job sitting around waiting on Champion AC to fix something that should have been done right the first time and a big headache. At this point I feel Champion AC has taken advantage of an older/disabled man who has worked hard for the money he has earned and paid to them. I can only hope that people read my review and learn from my costly mistake in trusting this company with something as important as their home. more

BEWARE 7/9/2012

After spending over $500 on what WASNT wrong, I am now going to call a competitor to see if they can properly diagnose the problem with my AC. My AC went out upstairs and the first visit the techician checked everything and told me it was my thermostat and that I also needed 4 lbs of coolant. Five days later... it went out again. Same exact thing. They came back out and in just a matter of minutes said last time I had an "inside" problem, now I have an "outside" problem.. my compressor was bad. An extra $2500. Really? Oh, of course.. my compressor was working fine five days ago and "sometimes these things just happen". Well I obviously find that very hard to believe. I have two AC units, both 10 years old, and the other one is still working fine. BEWARE. While they are very responsive and very nice, I just wasted $500. more

Very Helpful 7/4/2012

Had a problem with the air conditioner in the late afternoon and Champion AC was able to send someone out the next day. Nolan was courteous and extremely helpful. He gave me some tips on AC upkeep and showed me how my drain pipe for my AC unit was improperly installed. While both of those may seem like small gestures that was more than I had gotten from any other AC repair person yet more

Feeling pretty desperate after another company said it would take a week to fix our A/C, we called Champion and they said they could come fix it that same night. A technician came out and verified what was wrong. He was very patient in answering our questions and calling the owner of the property. They had to replace the inside unit and were able to come the next morning to do that. Ray and Carlos are the installers that put the new A/C in the house and they did a great job! They answered any questions we had and were very thorough yet quick in doing their job. So thankful we called this company and would definitely recommend! more
