Greatest TexMex in Utah 3/2/2010

The food is simply the best. The The cheese enchiladas and jumbo shrimp on the Veracruz are my fave. The previous review makes me laugh, cause El Matador has the most decent prices around, and all of their food is fresh, fresh fresh! If it ever is dry, it's because they bake all the food in a 500+ degree oven...but if you tell them you have a problem, they're the best about fixing anything. Customer service like Nordstrom, my wife says, ha. Also, the shredded beef chimichanga...delicious. The service is top notch. We've only had one server ever we didn't love, and now we just ask for the ones we know are great. The service is always way speedy and they are more than happy to accommodate whatever we need. My wife always gets the shredded beef taco salad or the zapata, I believe it's no. 7 on the combos...and we seem to crave it constantly. Also, get cheese for your salsa! It's mouthwatering! This place has been in business for a LONG time, and for good reason. Tasty fresh scones for dessert are a must too. Pros: Awesome HOT food and great service. more

Great service not very tasty food : ( 2/2/2010

I had heard good things about El matador so we tried it out. The setting and staff was really nice. The food was dry and way overpriced. The chips they serve were store bought but the salsa was good. I will not be going back there again. more

Sweet delicious cakes and sweet staff 1/25/2010

This little place is in a cute part of Concord over by the West Concord Train Station. I plan to take the kids on a train ride from Porter Square one day for a little outing. Trains, cupcakes, and a cup of coffee and a scone for mom. What could be better? They also do catering and serve savory items. I love their almond macaroons..dipped in chocolate is even better and their cupcakes are beautiful and delicious. They aren't the ""cool, hyped up, trendy cupcakes"" of the city. They are the classic, fluffy cake, normal flavors and perfectly frosted cupcakes of childhood. If you head out there (by bike, train or car) it is worth a stop. And Nashoba Bakery is just across the way too for some bread. Pros: Best cupcakes I have had Cons: Not exactly close to Boston more

El Matador has the best food. The salsa is so fresh filled with lots of vegetables and excellent flavor! It comes out warm...get cheese to put in it! It's delicious! The restaurant is so pretty and always clean. And the owner sure is a sweet man. He always brings our kids treats when we come in! It's the best in town for the price. The pork rio bravo is AMAZING. El Matador is our favorite. The food at El Matador is the best! Literally. We've eaten Mexican at every establishment in Bountiful, and several other cities and states, and El Matador is still our number one. Maybe it's the homemade and flavorful BUBBLY hot enchilada sauce, or the fact that the owner hand picks the tender slow roasted meats...perhaps it's the atmosphere (The restaurant is gorgeous and the decor is so tasteful!), or the knowledge that the ALL the food is delicious and made IN HOUSE. I'm not sure where the magic comes from. All I know is El Matador is an experience that is definitely worth the trip! Pros: Amazing food, service and atmosphere! Cons: Such busy weekends! more

One of the Best Indian Restaurants I Have Ever Eaten At 6/13/2009

This place has terrific food and a nice ambience. The food, which I order on the mild side, is always done right. I especially like the vegetable biryani and the alu tikki. I would highly recommend this place. My parents absolutely love the chicken tandoor; it always comes hot and fresh. Give it a try. I realize others say that they they have found better Indian restaurants in this area, but I have never heard them mention one! The El Matador in Ogden and the one in Bountiful are owned by two brothers, I've known them for over forty years. It's not authentic Mexican, but it's good food. If you found your food bland, next time try the chili verde. \r You don't stay in business as long as they have with the crowds they serve if the service and food are bad. Kids are always welcome. Terrible Food 4/16/2009

The exterior makes this a deceptive place -- looks great on the outside, but everything inside is disappointing (layout, decor, etc). Don't get the management mad, I've heard them get angry at critics and run them out the front door. This is weird place to eat. The food is 'cheese melt mexican' everything they serve seems to smothered with melted cheese -- with tomato paste that has almost no flavor. i was very dissapointed 3/1/2009

I love indian food!! but here it was not good, just very salty, and the service was really slow... we waited 50 minutes for our food to come and sat with empty glasses trying to catch their attention to no avail.... i asked for very hot and they did get that right, and the lassi was good but thats it... i could have made better food at home, the sauce was runny and oily, and was way too salty(and i like salty stuff)overall, i will not be going back, and now i really miss passage to india...... they were sooooo yummy...:( Pros: average price, the lassi(s) r ok Cons: service,noise level, food more

Great Service! 2/7/2009

My wife and I stopped in on a Friday night and were impressed with the very quick service. The host seated us immediately (wasn't terribly busy), and the server was very pleasant and attentive. Dinner was very good; I asked for medium spice level and was happy to not get ""Minnesota medium."" The beer & wine list was a bit disappointing, but not bad. We will definitely visit again. A consistent treasure of Utah cuisine 1/28/2009

There is a reason that El Matador has been in business for over 20 years - It's clean, it's good, it's family friendly, and you get a lot of food for your buck. I have been going to El Matador for over 16 years and enjoy it every time I eat. The owner is someone who takes pride in his business and I often see him interacting with customers, handing out candy to the little ones, and making sure that people are satisfied. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this may not be at the top of the list. However, having traveled to Mexico on occasion, authentic Mexican food in some cases, leaves things to be desired. \r \r My favorite dish is the Chicken Chimichanga with the fresh guacamole on the side, and I like to polish it off with a piece of hot sopapilla. Also good are the fajitas, the cheesburger and fries, and the simple chicken burrito enchilada style. They serve chips and salsa in plenty, and I have never had bad service. Waiters are Theives 8/21/2008

First off the service was subpar. The real problem was when I left my $400 pair of sunglasses on the table. When I left and returned to get them they were gone. I asked the waiters if someone picked them and they all played dumb. The dead giveaway was catching one of hosts pointing and laughing and then running into the kitchen when I caught him doing it. I do not recommend or recommend watching your belonings carefully if you do. more
