Best Salsa Ever 12/15/2010

My husband and I both love to dine here. Service and atmosphere are pleasant and warm and clean. Chef Tony does a great job of producing the BEST Mexican food. The salsa is my favorite ever, full of fresh vegetables and so flavorful! My husband loves the Chili Verdi, which is yummy. He orders it as a side dish - - it is so delicious and he sometimes puts it over his entree too. Do you know how food is so good you get a craving for it? That is El Matador. We highly recommend you give it a try! more

My husband and I eat here about once a month. I do not understand the negative comments about this place, as we have had nothing but tasty food served by friendly, smiling waitstaff every single time. (To be honest, I have a very difficult time believing two separate extremely negative reviews that say the food was bad yet ""went untouched."" How can that even be?) more

Worst food I ever tased in twin cities 7/17/2010

We (~25) reached this place to have a nice time together and have a good dinner, but ended up experiencing THE WORST food. All the non-vegetarian food was un-touched and all that we ate was little bit of starters. Seems cook only knows to add red chilli powder to spice up the dish and he seems to be un-aware of adding other spices to make the dish better. I ended up learning that I could have prepared better food than what we paid. Cons: everything more

NOT AS GOOD AS BEFORE 6/17/2010

I USED TO GO TO THE ORIGINAL EL MATADOR IN OGDEN. ON THE WEST SIDE OF OGDEN AVE. Thought I would try the Bountiful local. They made me wait to be seated there were a lot of empty tables (why the 20 min wait) I ordered the Veracruz platter w shrimp. The server was kind she brings a basket of chips and watery tasteless salsa I had he bring me some hot sauce it helped a bit. The food was just ok ,but the Shrimp were not as good as before. Rude People and Below Average Food 6/9/2010

The owners of this place should go back to school to learn some manners, extremely rude staff and owners alike. Uncouth, ill mannered human beings with total disregard for children and infants. Food is below average with extremely bad hygiene, check out their kitchen if you ever get a chance. DONT GO THERE. the owner and management of this place are extreely rude to its Patrons- Indians in particular.Their catering is totaly avaoidable as they jam people in one corner without the AC on and have a shared buffet. Best food in town...hands down! 5/20/2010

I'm quite baffled by some of these negative reviews. I've been coming to El Mat since I was a little boy...and I've tried tons of different Mexican, and it's still the very best. The thing that kills me about these reviewers, is that they mention they don't love something about the food...but how about telling your server or asking for management?? El Matador has the BEST servers and management of any restaurant we've ever been to. If you aren't completely satisfied (the very few times something hasn't been perfect), they bend over backwards to take care of you. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is awesome, the service is the best...and I'd pay to eat there, just for a convo with the owner. Love El Mat!!! Pros: Amazing chips and salsa, great fajitas and chimi's! Cons: None...? more

Popular place, Lousy Food 5/18/2010

The food was dry, and bland. My wife is a fan of mild salsa, but we both agree that the salsa tasted like tomato soup. It's also really popular with the locals (not sure why) so the wait can be over 45 min. for a party of two. Especially on a weekend. It's popular with families, and the prices are reasonable (it is Mexican food after all). So if you have kids it might be a good option. But if you don't like restaurants with lots of kids you probably won't like this one. Pros: New building, nice interior, nice location, family friendly Cons: Dry food, bland food, long wait, kids more

I love this place! 4/5/2010

I went here with 7 friends and we all think it's one of the best Indian restaurants we've ever been to--and these are some experienced Indian-food connoisseurs! It's really fantastic. Great, great food. Awesome prices. Very family friendly. I've heard some say the food has changed since the old place...I'd agree it has a little, I imagine because they are serving three times as many people. However, it still, and always will be the signature El Mat food. Delicious. We figured out a trick on parking! Park in Key Banks parking lot back behind when El Mat's is full! I've been to a business luncheon as well as a wedding lunch, and they were both awesome. Definitely recommend. Pros: salsa, chile verde, chimichangas, yum! Cons: Parking on the weekends. more

WARNING!!!! STAY AWAY!!!! 3/20/2010

I took 3 cars in for an oil change. 2 of my 3 cars had problems following the oil change. One car was taken to the dealership 3 days after the Swis oil change due to a recall item that needed to be taken of. The dealership informed me that silicone was used in place of the oil pan plug. I questioned Swis and they denied using silicone. Really?! The second car suffered severe difficulties (costing approx $2500) 13 days after the oil change - coincidence? Possibly - but 2 cars out of 3 having problems within days of the Swis oil change. I don't like the odds and will not return for any type of service. more
