My now-fiance and I went on our second date here, and had a wonderful experience! It is a little slower, but that's exactly what we were looking for...a place to sit and talk and get to know each other, not a place to get drunk and be loud. We ordered the Tiki Bowl (it comes out lit on fire), and the waitress, a sweet older lady, told us that we had to hold hands and make a wish before sinking the bacardi filled lemon. ""If you aren't in love already, you will be by the end of the drink!"" Lo and behold, we got engaged 9 months later, and will be spending many nights at At Random in the future! My Partner and I went to ""At Random"" last evening as we have before. While we were waiting to be seated another party entered behind us and then the waitress seated them first. We then had to wait again. We left rather than rewarding their business with our money.\r \r If I could rate with a lower score I would. I am very disappointed.\r \r P.S. We did make note of our dissatisfaction to the waitress and she basically acted indifferent, and that's when we left. Pros: Ice cream drinks that are tasty. Cons: Rude, snobbish, and selective. more

Arrived after trying to go to Bryant's but Bryant's was closed for a private party. Looking for a place to bring us out of our sad mood. We were told we could NOT sit at the bar. We were only greeted by the host and were not acknowledged by the owners or other staff. There is NO beer, NO wine, NO drinks except for off the menu and shots are served in a snifter. CASH ONLY We could NOT start a tab. We could NOT have more people in our booth because management doesn't like having more than 4 people sitting where we were sitting. We could NOT hold onto the menu to look for more drinks. 1 drink minimum---even when ordering a Tiki Love Bowl. I have NEVER been somewhere that is so unaccommodating. I can't believe we wanted other friends to join us. Upon their arriving we left and went elsewhere. We drank as fast as we could so we could GET OUT OF THERE!! The drinks were delicious but NOT worth it. I will never go there again and will tell everyone I know to never go there as well. At Random is one of those lounges that you see in the old movies from the 1940s and think, ?It would be cool to go to a place like that.? It is small and quaint with very low, soft lighting. The seating ranges from a booth that can fit 8 people to very close two-person tables. After all, this place is a quiet lounge, meant for you to take your mistress out for a drink (okay, I?m just kidding, but you get the idea).\r \r The specialty here is all in the drinks. They?re a tad expensive in comparison to other bars, but they?re very good and have quite a kick. The list of drinks is extensive and you?re guaranteed to find something that suits your palette. If you?re there with a date, get the Tiki Love Bowl. It?s about $20, but it?s huge and even comes with a hollowed out lemon peel that has been filled with 151 Rum and lit on fire. \r \r Be aware that the owner is one of those people who appears to be very aware of what kind of people he does not want in his establishment. He will usually seat all guests himself and might make you wait if you show up looking sloppy or are with a loud group of people. Be polite and the favor will be returned. It does get busy on weekends, so show up early or be prepared to wait. \r \r The only complaint I have about At Random is the inconsistency in service. There are times when everything is perfect. Then there are times when the service is slow and the drinks are sub-par. It tends to go in cycles. Either way, it?s not really meant to be a place you want to spend your whole evening, so take your sweetheart there or even go with a small group as a starter for the night. I've enjoyed At Random, for 30 years. The prices are a bit expensive, but I feel you are paying for atmosphere not easily found anymore. The place has low lighting of reds & golds. Relaxing, romantic music of the 40's & 50's crooners variety, like Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin. Great Ice Cream Drinks, you share with your sweetie intermingled between kisses exchanged. You feel you stepped back in time, captured romance from another era with your special someone. My boyfriend, George was from out of state and enjoyed it immensely. This place is unbelievable. I went here for the first time on a date, and it was just great. You can actually sit in a booth (not private though) and face other people on the other side of the room. If it's busy, you get stuck sitting rather close to strangers, but it gives you a good reason to cuddle up close to your boyfriend. The waitresses are super nice. You won't find half-naked women tossing their hair around while carrying your drinks. You will meet friend older women who still know how to have a good time and spark interesting conversation. WHile there I felt as if I was in at an Italian hangout. This is great for Italian movie lovers. Although the drinks have flaky names (i.e. yellow bird, sea breeze), they are the real thing. GO HERE! This place is just too much fun to explain. Where do i start. First of all, they do not take plastic of checks. They do not serve beer, wine, or shots. They do make you pay for your drinks up front. That said, this is the most interesting place to drink I have ever been. The decor it original 60's kitschy lounge. The music is crooners and rat pack standards. This place makes tiki drinks, makes the strong, and serves them with fire and umbrellas.
