I went to Sripraphai Thai based on the recommendation of a co-worker who grew up in Thailand. He's actually American, and his parents still live there. He said that even in Thailand natives say this is the ONLY restaurant in NYC to get good home cookin' Thai food. With a recommendation, who could say ""No""? The menu is the size of a potboiling romance novel. Complete with pictures and descriptions in English. When my friend and I went there they had just gotten a license to serve wine and beer. We split a bottle of Thai wine. It went down easy, but packed a wallop. We both ordered appetizers and entrees to suit our respective tastes. I like it spicy hot, and that's what I got. For some of the reviewers here, if you want it hotter, or less hot, just say so. The waitress couldn't have been more accomodating. Also, perhaps because it was daytime, the clientle appeared to be all Asian. We ate like Ugly Americans, took leftovers home, and the whole shebang, including wine, was around $70 bucks before tip. We were never hurried. It was a delicious experience. I've since returned, and never had a meal I didn't like. All I can say is if you show up with a huge party one hour before closing you're pretty inconsiderate. If you show up expecting great Thai food, are willing to read the bookish menu, ask questions, you'll have a great dining experience. Pros: Food, food, food Cons: No parking, tough to find if you're not from Queens
