If you're going to move here, know the facts. I moved here at the end of 2010. I'd only been here one month and the rusty water had been turned off twice without my ever receiving notice from the office. I woke up this morning and it has been turned off again. When you call the office, they always say, ""It's an old property (1970s) and the pipes burst unexpectedly and they had to call in an emergency plumber."" The water is off right now (10:00 a.m.), it is Saturday. The office isn't even open yet, so I wonder who called the emeregency plumber and couldn't give us a heads up. It has been turned off no less than 6-7 times since I moved in not 4 months ago. Only once have I ever received notice that it would be turned off. I had only been living here two and half weeks, maybe three, when I received a notice on my door related to eviction because ""they had been trying to reach me unsuccessfully for more than 30 days"" As I mentioned earlier, I hadn't even lived in my apartment a full month yet. I'm assuming that price is a reason why people live here. A few facts that were not mentioned when I finally applied. You have to pay $20 for cable. Your water usage is calculated by all tenants use in your building and then split amongst all. So for instance, I who live alone in a 2/2 and get charged almost $45 a month for water. I don't have a washing machine, and I rarely use the guest bath. My ""rent"" essentially costs about $70 higher than what I'd budgeted because of the extras they tack on. Unlike having a separate bill for utilities, a portion of that is due on the first with rent. So you'd essentially be delinquent if not paid. Two weeks ago, my car and another neighbor's car were broken into. When I spoke with the other neighbor, he said that he wouldn't be surprised if the guard was asleep and that's how someone got onto the property. He said that many times he has come home late and the guard is asleep. So much for that security. The best part is that when they broke into my car, the window didn't shatter, so the perps just through it over the fence. It is now a daily reminder of what happened because the maintenance crew or office staff won't do anything about that. Yvette, one of the office managers, expressed her sorrow that it had happened and gave me the phone to call the police. This place is old, but the grounds are kept looking decent. I have a lot of clients that come to my home and I feel safe having them come during the day. They have a variety of floor plans and the square footage is really decent. It's a step up from my last roach infested apartment in Montrose, but only a step. I will definitely not be renewing my lease here.
