I've been to Chocolate Bar in New York in the Meatpacking district and the new one on Fifth Avenue in the department store Henri Bendel. I've also been to the cafe they have at Dance Theatre Workshop. My boyfriend and I are chocolate fiends and the one thing that I love about this mini-chain of stores is that it's refreshingly modern. \r

If you go to Godiva or Vosgues you get a kind of back of the counter stare. It also feels very precious. But not at Chocolate Bar. I always find the seasonal chocolates in good flavours and think the staff- who are mostly a motley young crew of tattooed charmers- in good form. At the end of the day I just want to walk into a store and feel welcome and Chocolate Bar delivers that in spades. I've met the owner and she seems really down to earth and that comes across. \r

When I'm in New York I want an authentic experience and whether I'm enjoying touristic escpades or just getting a quick fix I always think Chocolate Bar delivers.
