I hired SV movers to move from an apt in San Jose to an apt in Sunnyvale on 9/11/2006. The terms of the contract were 3 movers at $130/hr. On the day of the move, 3 guys showed up, however after lunch, one of them bailed. I was not contacted by anyone so I had to call them myself. Without any explanation they told me that they could not send out anyone else and that I would now be billed for 2 movers at $90/hr. I explained to them that the move would now take much longer and it was quite clear that the job became much more tiring for just the two men left. This is when the owners became very beligerent and rude. I spoke with both Shiree and Joe (owners). While speaking with Joe, he was extremely condensending and at one point hung up on me. The owners became worried that I wouldn't pay because I was upset, so they called the movers on their cell phones and ordered them to stop working until they had an imprint of my credit card. Half of my stuff was still in the moving truck and I was in a very compromised state. I had to hand over my credit card for full payment before they would complete my move. At this point, the movers began stuffing boxes whereever they could find space in my new apt such that there was no organization to the way they were moving things in. Also upon unpacking I found many items had broken despite the painstaking process that my wife and I took to pack things with extreme care. The movers also lost some screws for attaching a mirror to my dresser. I had several phone conversations with the head office who treated me with contempt and utter rudeness. I demanded some sort of discount for their unwillingness to live up to the terms of the contract. They would not offer me any discount and charged me the same rate for the 2 person move that they had originally quoted me when I first had inquired about their pricing for 2 movers. I was utterly dissapointed that they did not live up to the terms of the contract, and how I was treated.
