Ive eaten at Morimotos in Philadelphia, Nobus in Tokyo, Iso in New York, Yoshinos in Miami, and countless other restaurants in America and Japan. That said I am proud to call NC my home because of Kanki. I can honestly say that the sushi served at Kankis Durham location by Chiba and Masa is among the worlds best. Kanki, Japanese for great joy, serves some of the freshest sushi in the US and features an atmosphere that is dynamic yet relaxing. While the Hibachi served there is not as authentic as the sushi, dont let that stop you from discovering this gem among sushiya. Try the Mixed Sunomono with fresh octopus, salmon, crab, and shrimp, over seaweed salad. The grilled chicken yakitori is great for kids. Another favorite is the mackerel nigiri. But of course, no trip to Kanki is complete without the Ice Cream Mochi. Enjoy! Itadakimasu!
