The experience that my fiance and I had was wonderful at Zavius Jewelers. We had a set budget and compared several local jewelry stores in the area and we found that Zavius offered us the most for our money. Not only did we get exactly what we had hoped for within our budget, but we were very involved in the design process with the owner, Luis. I didn't feel like I had to compromise on what we wanted like at other stores that would try to sell us something we couldn't afford. The quality of the piece is outstanding and the service was exceptional. I'd recommend this store to anyone! more

BUYER BEWARE! Don't be the next victim.... 5/27/2012

Stay away from this place! We got scammed over 12 years ago and I can't believe this place is still in business. They will REALLY get you if you're looking to design your own jewelry. They show you all kinds of amazing stones for fair prices and then the finished product will result in poor quality stones. The old switcheroo trick. I shudder to think about how many people have brought them family heirloom gems/stones and ended up getting something else in return. I tried to report these guys to the BBB years ago and that was a waste of time. Hopefully people will do their research on the internet first and save themselves the heartache as well as money. more

Terrible experience 7/29/2011

My wife purchased a watch through Zavius Jewelers, in Rockford, IL earlier in June. She was told by them that this was a special order, since they did not carry that item. They ordered the watch, sold it to my wife and kept it in their safe at the store location until 7/15. When we checked the return policy, the receipt said 14 days from date of purchase. I wanted to return the watch for personal reasons however. Since the watch had been on site until three days prior, we hoped this would not be a problem. We were wrong about that, but not for the reason we thought. We were told that the store had to purchase the watch themselves, as they did not carry that line. They said that returns on special orders were not possible and that this situation had never come up before. On 7/21, I drove to the store and spoke to the salesperson, as well as the store manager who confirmed that they would not make an exception, nor would the ""company that we deal with"" that they sourced the piece from. The store suggested that I sell the watch myself on eBay, or that they would try to sell it on consignment. My issue with this transaction is not that the store did not make an exception to their return policy, the fact is, for this purchase there was no return policy. My wife was not informed of this fact prior to making the purchase. The store would not provide the name of the merchant that the watch came from and have offered no solution. I am deeply disappointed by the store manager's attitude towards this transaction and cannot believe that this is the kind of experience that Tag-Heuer wishes for it's customers. more

WORST experience of my life 2/28/2011

Warning! Do NOT buy from Zavius. I have been dealing with both Louis (owner) and Ray (sales agent) since July. It all started when my fiance and I began looking for an engagement ring. Working with Ray we designed what appeared to be a beautiful ""idea"" of what I wanted. My fiance went back at another time without me and they used this to their advantage. They SCREWED him over. They used the fact he had little knowledge as a consumer about diamonds and trusted them... BIG mistake. Do NOT trust them, they are scammers. When my fiance proposed I noticed something was wrong about the ring. We immediately went in to try to fix this. Sure enough they sold us a very poor quality stone and setting. We offered to pay more to have it fixed and hey had us convinced they were looking for a new stone... for 6 months, they found nothing!?!?! After 6 months of back and forth they decided they were no longer going to speak to us. WORST customer service I have ever experience. We ended up going to Gruno's where Brent Meade was unbelievable. He was so helpful, brought us in 7 stones to look at! His customer service as well as everyone's at the store was amazing. When it came time to pick out a band we found even more bad news. Zavius had not only screwed us over by lying about my center stone but even the setting. We immediately noticed a difference in quality between bands at Gruno's compared to the one we were given. We were told by multiple Rockford Jewelers that if we want to match our wedding band to the engagement ring they would have to go out and find poorer quality stones and use a lower quality 18c gold.... unreal. We ended up having to get a whole new setting. This ""experience"" with Zavius and having to right their wrong cost us 17K, I'm warning you, please don't make the same mistake. more
