Best

I have been a Cubs fan since I was 5 years old. Nearly 30 years later, STILL a Cubs fan stuck in a world of Sox fans (Family and friends) I have stood my ground. I will defend the...

Historic Wrigley, second oldest park in the majors. People go here to see and be seen. They go for the green ivy and the cold beer. The local patrons go for the sun and fun....

Best outdoor tavern in the nation 6/16/2002

There isn't a better way to spend the day than out at Wrigley chattin' with Sammy and antagonizing the opponents. It's really too bad the roof tops aren't involved anymore. Nothin' better than making friends and getting crazy out in the bleachers. YOU MUST TRY IT ONCE -- . This place makes Chicago the greatest city in the nation --. more

A Purist's Paradise 6/10/2002

Sure the seats are uncomfortable and maybe even behind a pole; and there's always a line at the concessions; and God Himself wouldn't try to park near the stadium, but c'mon, it's Wrigley Field. This is baseball how it's supposed to be and it speaks to the heritage and tradition of the game. more

The World's Best Ballpark! 6/5/2002

Wrigley Field, the oldest park in the National League, abounds with history. The ivy, the manual scoreboard, the neighborhood, the bleachers, Sosa, Wood... You can't beat it. Be sure to get there approx 3 hours before the game and wait for the visiting players to arrive at the Sheffield & Addison gate. Watch batting practice. Ask Sammy how many outs there are & he'll respond to you from right field. Pros: Access to players, Seats close to field Cons: Expensive parking, Ticket prices rising, Hard to get field box more

Last of the Classics 6/3/2002

Chicago fans can still go to see baseball games and enjoy the nostalgia that this park has to offer. After they tore down Comisky Field on the South Side and replaced it with a monster, baseball fans learned to apprieciate how you should feel when walking in a real stadium more

Wrigley Wonder 6/1/2002

A great area for before and after-game activities. Great bars and music! Close proximity to the lake. Pros: Environment, Neighborhood Cons: Parking more

An Exciting Atmosphere 5/23/2002

Even though Comisky is more comfortable, nothing beats an afternoon game at Wrigley. The neighborhood and the old stadium itself make for a great day. Be sure to arrive early to find a place to park, and there are many bars to stop at before and after the game. The area is always bustling and whenever the Cubs have a chance of winning, the area buzzes like no other. Pros: Great Atmosphere, People Cons: Bad parking more

Very Friendly Indeed 5/16/2002

I like to sit in the bleachers where the sun shines and Sammy Sosa runs by at full speed. He likes to throw the ball in the stands whenever he can too. The crowd in the bleachers is pretty amusing. Be sure to get there before the game so you have a good seat. Pros: Traditions, Nearby Bars, Cubs baseball Cons: Old Restrooms, Parking more

Sosa makes 5/16/2002

The tickets are the second-highest in the Major Leagues. The seats in the bleachers are crowded beyond on compare. Good tickets are hard to come by. And the beer guys don't make their way to the bleachers. But, when you see Sosa run full-speed to his position in right field or basically call a home run before he hits it (he did this his last at-bat in 2001 against the Pirates), you know why there is no place better to be than watching the Cubs in the afternoon. Pros: Sosa, all seats are great Cons: prices more

Best ballpark in America 5/15/2002

The ivy, the devoted fans, the natural grass--all in the heart of the city. This is what America's all about, people. It may not be what baseball's all about, considering the crappy start the Cubs are off to. But better to be disappointed now than in September, right? Pros: great family spot, the cubbies!, heart of the city more

the bleachers are fun 5/15/2002

I hadn't been to a baseball game in years, but, my recent visit to Wrigley was quite fun. The bleacher fans are the rowdiest (and drunkest) in the whole park. Be careful about your beer consumption, the almost vertical stairs can be tough to negotiate. more
