I have been a Cubs fan since I was 5 years old. Nearly 30 years later, STILL a Cubs fan stuck in a world of Sox fans (Family and friends) I have stood my ground. I will defend the...

Worst

Historic Wrigley, second oldest park in the majors. People go here to see and be seen. They go for the green ivy and the cold beer. The local patrons go for the sun and fun....

An amazing place for the baseball purist! 3/20/2007

Today's baseball world is saturated with new high tech fancy smancy ballpark's with all their bells and whistles and gigantor screens and bla bla bla. Sure it is great for business and for everyone to have a good time. But the thing that gets missed in all of the hoopla of the new ballpark's is why they were built in the first place. To watch the amazing game of baseball. At Wrigley Field that is all that is there. A great appreciation of a great game filled with an amazing history. For people who truly love the game there is no place better than one of the true historic places that still stands today. That is why in September when there is no hope for the Cubs making a play-off run, the stands are still full with baseball fans having a good time. more

Wrigley is a baseball Mecca!! 3/20/2007

Wrigley is THE BEST! For those of you complaining about parking - take the train! I would much rather go to a stadium in a great neighborhood like Wrigleyville than to some eyesoar surrounded by acres of parking lot. And as for the legroom, give me a break! I'm 6' 8"" tall and while the seats are cramped for me they are no worse than any other stadium I've been to. The seventh inning stretch with ""Take Me Out To The Ball Game"", the ivey, the Bleacher Bums and everything else make Wrigley the best ball park in baseball! Pros: Great History, Great Neighborhood more

Wrigley Field great atmosphere, lousy place for a game 3/20/2007

This my first message. I have visited Wrigley Field 3 times. I enjoyed the atmosphere, however it is one of the worst places to actually watch a baseball game. Most of the fans in the bleachers could not have told you who won or lost, nor would they have cared. They enjoyed themselves and tolerated us non Cub fans. The parking was expensive. The beer was cold. Pros: Fans, Overall ambience Cons: Parking, sightlines more

Wrigley Field's on its last leg 3/19/2007

Dont get me wrong I love the cubbies, but thats just it. I love the cubs, I dont love Wrigley anymore. It has some history, but lets face it what have the cubs done there? Keeping Wrigley in tact wont get the cubbies to the world series, I'd much rather see the cubbies win the "big one" in a new stadium than sitting thru another bad season w/ concrete possibly falling on me. Look, its got great atmosphere, great fans, decent food, but a tired look. Im a baseball fan first, and a tourist a distant second. more

A thought about some of the Wrigley Field reviewers 3/19/2007

I happened to be clicking through this site and started to read some of the reviews. I immediately started to laugh at some and HAD to join up so that I could post this comment. I got a kick out of some of the people reviewing Wrigley Field as; old, cramped, bad food, no parking, or even fans not caring or paying attention to the games. First off, have you ever BEEN to Wrigley Field? It's not about modern day architecture (with unobstructed views) or "parking lot" parking for your SUV. It's about a "one of a kind" experience...not a cookie cutter suburban mega-field. It was built in a time that people wanted an intimate place to watch an American Game. Wrigley Field is a place to have a time of your life...because people "check" there life concerns at the door and have a GREAT time. Win or lose! You have to see it to believe it!--and for god sake, don't expect valet parking or bathroom attendants. For that, you can stay in the suburbs! more

Best park around! 3/19/2007

Wrigley field is an icon. You cant judge a ballpark on what it is on the outside. It is the atmosphere and the love of the Cubbies. If you do not know the traditions of Wrigley Field then do not diss my favorite ball park in America. It still has a manual scoreboard. You do not go there expecting your favorite team to loose but its all in the atmosphere of the park. WHat park today can still say it even has a manual scoreboard? The dogs are great and the Peanut throwers are a show in themselves. Do not go to Wrigley field if you are looking for that ultra modern playing field. Go there to feel what it was like in the hayday of baseball. If you are from out of town, order a Chicago Style hot dog. Do not be surprised about the relish, it is just good. Oh and ask for a little more celery salt. Its a great park for the family and to enjoy an afternoon at the ballpark today! Pros: Great food, Great atmospher Great EVERYTHING Cons: Parking can be a problem so be willing to pay for the good stuff. more

Chicago's Team 3/19/2007

I walk to Wrigley Field, so I can't say anything bad about the parking, I always grab a bite to eat on the walk down to the park, so I can't say anything bad about the food. They sell Labatt's Blue in the bleachers, so I can't say anything bad about the beer. I pay attention to the game while it's in progress and not the people around me, so I can't say anything bad about the "fans" (though I have made several friends just shootin the stuff talkin bout everything between innings). I go to Wrigley Field to watch 9 innings of baseball, that's what I paid for, and that's what I get. The Cubs win some, the Cubs lose some, heck, that's everyone's life story. If you don't go to a Cubs game, (or any baseball game for that matter) to watch a baseball game, then don't go. Leave baseball to the fans of the game. There's no place like Wrigley. Pros: Millions have been coming here since 1914, must have done something right more

I have been to many different baseball stadium, and honestly Wrigley Field is one of the worst to watch a game. Yes there is a lot of history in the stadium, but there's a lot of history in museums too. First, the seating is horrible, with tight rows. Next, the sight lines are bad. Unless you sit up front, chances are you will have a pole or the overhang of the upperdeck blocking your view. Parking, HA! The only parking available is at the gas stations for $30 more. The food is terrible. The hot dogs are rubber tubes filled with salt water. You can't even get a good beer to wash down the taste! The bathrooms are basically flush port-a-johns. Wrigley Field is bad place to watch baseball. If you want some history check out the Field Museum, it's cheaper, cleaner, and the product inside is much better! Cons: Price , Poor Sight Lines, Food is bad more

Incredible 7/22/2005

Wrigley Field is wonderful. Cubs fans are avid (or even rabid) no matter whether we win or lose, since it's the players and the game that count. Hot dog vendors, the scoreboard, balls getting stuck in the ivy, manager/umpire disputes, it's all about the game. If you complain it's old, then you don't appreciate the incredible history that lurks there. Plan and arrive early enough and there's plenty of parking in people's alleys - some even open their garages - all for a fee, of course, but it's about the same as parking farther away and using the shuttle. The experience is all worth at least a yearly family pilgrimage. Pros: the Cubs, the history Cons: crowds after the game, which is expected more

the Friendly confines 4/13/2005

The best park in the league and the most beloved team! Don't miss the bleachers for the sheer entertainment value of your fellow fans. Ronnie Whoo Whoo and the Mai Tai man are favorites in Right Field. Pros: Cubs, Fans, Team more

Wrigley Field Must Go 4/12/2005

I don't understand the aura of this ballpark. i have been to better minor lrague parks in my lifetime. The seats are cramped and uncomfortable. If you sit under an overhang, there is a good chance a pillar will affect your sight lines, the parking and traffic congestion around the stadium is horrible. The only thing good I can say is the outfield ivy looks nice. Thats it. Its time for this relic to go. more
