I have been a Cubs fan since I was 5 years old. Nearly 30 years later, STILL a Cubs fan stuck in a world of Sox fans (Family and friends) I have stood my ground. I will defend the...

Historic Wrigley, second oldest park in the majors. People go here to see and be seen. They go for the green ivy and the cold beer. The local patrons go for the sun and fun....

Wrigley Field 10/6/2003

Except for the 2003 season the cubs are rarely title contenders for the national leage central division. Harry Carey isn't with us any more. But there's just something about sitting down into a seat in Wrigley Field with a program in one hand, a hot dog in the other, and a beer/soda sitting at your feet. A wonderful experience. Pros: wonderful atmosphere Cons: parking more

Wriggley 8/17/2003

There's nothing that sums up a classic Chicago getaway better then a day pilgrimage to the legendary Wriggley field. If you can actually find reasonable parking and a ticket, then sitting way out in the bleachers, shades on, flesh bared and burning, beer in hand, is nothing short of a religious experience. In the pews of Wriggley, surrounded by the greenest of ivy, a normally cool lake breeze, and a couple thousand rowdy friends, you can't help but feel the energy and excitement of the experience. You can still feel the ghost of ole' Harry Carey, the god-father of Cubs baseball, roaming its bleachers. A Carey-led seventh inning stretch belting of, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, is a sacred rememberance. The smells, the sights, eh and da' beer make this a must-do, must-see outing/experience while in Chicago. Pros: Sense of family, Da' Ivy, Da' Beer Cons: Nightmarish parking more

Overrated 8/8/2003

More tourist destination than place to watch baseball. Most don't watch the game. Fans care about seeing Sosa HRs than a win. Too many drunken young adults. Concession area is DREARY and bathrooms are awful. Tickets expensive and hard to get just to see losing team. Plenty of great seats, but more lousy (obstructed) seats than people ever admit. Not all views of Wrigley are beautiful - exterior consists of concrete slabs and chain link fences. Great neighborhood w/ lots of bars and restaurants. Parking is the worst, but el access is good. Too many of Wrigley's faults get excused away as ""charm"". Comiskey is a better place to watch and enjoy a MLB game in Chicago. Pros: Neighborhood, History Cons: Lousy Fans, Obstructed seats, Poor amenities more

The best 6/25/2003

Wrigley is the best ballpark there is to watch a game: period. Sure there are fans who don't watch the game and go to drink, but that's part of it. The scoreboard is old-fashioned and real fans will love it. The only negative is the trough in the men's restroom, but again, that's part of it. If you don't take the L or bus to the game, then your just dumb and shouldn't complain about parking. more

A Temple 6/25/2003

Wrigley Field stands as a temple for baseball. All World Series should be played in this park. I know I felt special watching the World Series played at BOB or Jack Robbie Stadium! If you come to Chicago and you even like baseball a little bit, come to Wrigley Field and you will see what great baseball is all about! Pros: People are great!, History is alive!, The Cubs are awesome! Cons: Somewhat bad parking, Somewhat expensive, Windy higher up more

Go For the Stadium 6/17/2003

Historic Wrigley, second oldest park in the majors. People go here to see and be seen. They go for the green ivy and the cold beer. The local patrons go for the sun and fun. Don't expect to see winning baseball as the Cubs have had only 6 winning seasons in the last 25 years. Pros: nice views (babes), baseball history, local nite-life Cons: loosing baseball, no parking more
