I boarded my dog here a little while ago, just haven't gotten around to writing a review until now. I was very impressed with the pet resort. A young woman named Andrea was extremely helpful and kind. We had never boarded our beloved pup before and were nervous. Right away we were impressed because our somewhat timid girl went right up to Andrea and let her pet her. All of our questions (and believe me there were many!) were answered. Everything was explained thoroughly to us and we left feeling confident that our girl would have a good visit. more

We have used Wine Country Pet Resort to board our German Shorthaired Pointer numerous times and couldn't be happier. After trying out several other kennels in Napa, I'm so happy that we found this place for our dog. At the other Napa Kennels, Buck would always come home depressed, skinny and out of sorts. Then I found WCPR. When I pick him up from WCPR he is happy, wagging his rear end and very healthy. When I drop him off he jumps out of the car with excitement because I believe he really does have a great time there. The turn out pastures are wonderful for dogs that love to play. I'm never worried that he isn't getting fed the proper amount because the staff is diligent at drop off to get any new information that they might need for feeding schedules or any changes that might have occurred since his last visit. They're aware of Buck's needs and I feel very confident that they are fulfilling them or going above and beyond. The facility is always very clean with no odor and the staff is pleasant to work with. I have never had any billing issues and feel the amount charged per night is a very fair charge for what the animals receive. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to board their animals with a knowledgeable staff that truly is there for the pets! more

This is a wonderful boarding and grooming facility. I have been a client for over 9 years and am very, very pleased with the services that they provide. My most precious Newf has always been well treated, expertly groomed and even give special attention when needing medications. The staff is friendly, courteous and extremely competant in caring for my dog. The facility is very clean and professionally managed. It is a great place to care for your special pup-dog. I highly recommend WIne Country Pet Resort!!!! more

I had to board my 3 elderly dogs for a week while attending to business in Napa county. The reception and handling of my dogs on arrival made me feel very comfortable. I dropped into to see them during the week and saw them at play in one of the paddocks having great fun with several other dogs. I picked up 3 happy, relaxed dogs who were interacting with the staff in a very, positive manner, which told me that they had been receiving attention and affection. I also had them groomed aand what a lovely job the staff did. Thank you Wine Country. more

We Love Wine Country Pet Resort! The only kennel our dogs pull to come into, as opposed to pull coming out! That tells you all you need to know! more

Great place to board pets of all kinds! Our Golden (Chip) LOVES his visits to the Pet Resort. The staff are friendly, efficient, and caring. Never had a negative issue. Just for a change of pace, we occasionally take Chip there for a ""sleepover"" even though we're not out of town. He enjoys and benefits from the interaction with other dogs. more

We board and groom our newfoundland with them simply because the staff loves animals. A pleasent differance when compared to the corporate kennels staffed by anyone who will take a paycheck. Borrow a 220lb newfy and watch their expression when you ask for grooming to be included. BTW Phyllis is english, you probably forgot to bring a pint ( Giggle ). more

Phyllis is NOT a good person 12/30/2011

The staffers at Wine Country Pet Resort were quite friendly and amicable. However when it came to dealing with owner/operator Phyllis, that was when the real headaches began. She was rude on the telephone, impersonal as well as making bizarre rules about the charges for boarding. Simply because of Phyllis' demeanor I'm fairly certain I will not take my dog back. Other than that, my dog was well taken care of and happy when I came to pick him up. more

Very Pleased 4/2/2011

We decided to go out of town for the weekend at the last minute. I called Wine Country Pet Resort and they were able to take our dog, Bella who is 12 years old, at the last minute. She was able to have her own room in a cute little house that housed about 4 or 5 other dogs. When I picked her up she at been bathed and her nails had been clipped and she smelled sooo good. Bella gave Andrea, the young woman who brought her to me, a big kiss before I put her in the car. It is so comforting to know we can leave Bella and she will be taken care of and a happy dog. Thank you. more

Thank Heaven !! 3/18/2011

My dogs ages are 15,13,11 and I was apprehensive of having to board them for a week but found Wine Country Pet Resort close to my destination. I dropped them off and felt better because of the way they were received and handled ( was even helped lifting the oldest old girl out of the car ). When I picked them up I was so pleased, they were happy, relaxed and obviously well fed !! I also had booked for them to be groomed and instead of the shaggy beasts I had delivered they looked gorgeous. My only beef ? I had to buy a dog bed because my oldest had become spoiled !!!!! more

Six Stars 3/18/2011

I have a very difficult, big dog and am extremely lucky to have found this kennel. Phyllis and her staff have worked wonders with my dog and I feel very comfortable leaving him there for short and long stays (recently 4 weeks). I don't think any dog is happy to be stuck in a kennel, but it's obvious when I pick him up that the staff understand his special needs and have been watching out for him. This is a fairly busy facility, I've used it for over a year and would give it six stars if I could! more

Marvelous experience 3/9/2011

My dog loved his stay there. I arrived back in town earlier than expected and stopped by a day early to pick him up. He was in a huge grass play yard romping with another dog and being supervised by one of the staff. more

Don,t Bother 6/6/2010

We booked our standard poodle in here for 2 weeks. The evening before we were to leave for our cruise, my husband arrived with the dog and they were CLOSED! This was about 5:30 PM on a Sat. We had pre-arranged the drop off time. If Camp Rawhide had been closed...we would have been out scout! Annabelle loved her stay at CR and she was well taken care of. Best of all they are cheaper and the dogs DO get out of the kennel. more

Not As Advertised 3/16/2010

I was recommended this place b/c allegedly they specialize in Newfoundland dogs. I took my girl there for two nights. I was told they also allowed dogs to run freely with the other dogs, to play and exercise instead of being locked in a kennel all day long. Pros: Nice rural setting Cons: Not as Advertised more

A great place to Board or take advantage of Doggie Day Care! 10/20/2009

I've been taking our dogs here for several years. When our older dog was fragile and dying, she was given special care. I was so relieved and grateful for their services. Pros: Happy Dogs! Cons: Only draw back is that they take only cash or check more

Do NOT Recommend 1/30/2008

My husband and I consider ourselves somewhat picky when it comes to boarding our dog when we travel, as she is an important part of the family, but we're certainly not over the top in any regard. It really takes a lot for us to write a review but I wanted to get the word out about this facility. We have boarded her here twice and will never go back. The first time we were charged extra for twice-a-day feeding without being told upfront. They insisted they communicated this when we dropped her off but both my husband and I were present and it was never mentioned. This came out to be $35 additional when we picked her up. They also insisted we pay it literally before they would even go in the back to retrieve our dog. Since she seemed taken care of though we decided to give the resort another chance. The next time we boarded her was for a short overnight stay. She was in their care for less than 24 hours. As it clearly mentions on their website boarding is $30 per day for a medium sized dog. We dropped her off at 5pm Sunday and picked her up at 4pm on Monday. They charged us $60 total since apparently no matter what time you drop your pet off the first day they charge you a full $30. Not only was this never verbally communicated when we left her or when we made our reservation but again they refused to give our dog back until we paid the full $60. It was also very clear when we got her home that she was not let out that day by them at any time. We are extremely unsatisfied and will never use Wine Country Pet Resort again. more
