I live in the southern suburbs, and I've been going to Nicki at Van Strand for over a year now for my Brazilian Blowouts. That's a 45 min drive! Will NOT go see anyone else! Charita Santiago is the best hairstylist ever! I've known Charita since I was 9 years old I am 17 years old now. She's been doing my hair for 8 years, and shes the only person I will ever trust with my hair! not only does she interact with you and make you feel very comfortable, but shes makes your visit here feel very speedy depending on what you do your in and out within an hour. My daughter had been begging to do the Brazilian Blowout for quite some time . . . but I was very nervous about it. Ashley spent a lot of time with me answering all of my questions . . . even the silly ones! Once I felt comfortable about the process, Ashley did the blowout for my daughter. It turned out fantastic! Better than I expected. I know that I would not have agreed to this if Ashley hadn't walked me through the process first and made sure I understood how it worked. She is so knowledgeable about this industry and is the ultimate professional. Ashley will be the only one doing my daughter's hair from now on. more

Have you ever tried explaining how you want your hair done to a stylist and when its done its not what you wanted at all?? I have had that problem many times, but NEVER with Ash! I have been going to ash for 3 years now and I love her, I have done my hair from bright red underneath, to chucking high and low lights, having my highlights thin blended in and natural. I have done it all. every time i come up with some crazy new way of doing my hair, Ash has done it EXACTLY how i have pictured it in my head! NO ONE has EVER been able to do that and when I went to a Solon before that they were way too expensive and would ""style"" my hair before leaving and I would be embarrassed to leave. NOT EVER WITH ASH! it don't matter if you want something as simple as a full head of blonde high lights and a hair cut or a crazy bright red blonde and brown even pink, she has always done and cut my hair so perfect I now carry her cards in my purse and car because so many people always stop me asking me where i got my hair done! All of my friends now see her and the people I met randomly going out or even at a gas station. You need to see Ash you will not be disappointed!! more

I saw this salon on Groupon so I purchased a deal for $40 you got $60 worth of salon service. I spent way to much money!! First, ""stylist"", Sue was such a crab and acted like she hated her job. She was unfriendly and unprofessional. I came in wanting a full foil and she basically told me I had to get a partial foil because my hair was so healthy. That being said, she started the partial foil. After she was done washing the color out I knew right away I was going to be disapointed. There was no difference in the color from when I went in. I asked her to also clean-up my hair with a trim at the end. She cut my hair and had to ask for help from a coworker on how to cut the back portion of my hair because there was a huge streak that she needed to blend in....Ugh. After she was done cutting she took about 15 minutes to blow dry and ""style"". There was no style to the hair at all! I was embarrassed to be seen in public! Not only did the foil job look shabby, but my haircut was completely uneven! It was like I went to a beauty school and had my hair cut by a girl on her first day of class! The layers are choppy and completely uneven. I have hair in the front that were missed completely at the time of the trim. The back looks like a 4 year old took a scissors and just started snipping away! I will never go back there and recommend to others they go somewhere else! ANYWHERE ELSE! more

There is no hair treatment that I know of that the staff at Van Strand cannot provide and that?s just one of the many reasons they are THE BEST SALON in the area!! The team at Van Strand is incredibly professional, extremely courteous, wonderfully considerate and EXPERTLY SKILLED in beautifully handling any and every hair type, texture, style and / or length. Not only are they WONDERFUL at handling the standards of washing, deep conditioning, dyeing , cutting and styling --- but --- they also are THE BEST SALON for having the ?Brazilian-Blowout? keratin treatment done that leaves any and every hair type and texture amazingly soft, shiny, healthy, manageable and with unbelievable body and strength !! No matter what condition your hair is at your initial visit ? Traci Kuster is able to turn it into a masterpiece by the time youl eave AND she does such an amazing job that you will continue get compliments for weeks afterward. After my first visit to Van Strand (and every visit since then) my own hair has looked FABULOUS and the only regret that I have ever had is that I did not know a lot earlier about THE BEST KEPT SECRET in the Twin Cities for getting beautiful, healthy, fabulous hair. more

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Ash has been cutting my hair and doing my eyebrows for the last 3 years. Meet her @ Fantastic Sams and after the 1st haircut I was hooked. I followed her to Van Strand Hair Salon and see her once a month if not twice. I'm one who will just walk in and see if she can get me in and she always finds the time. more

Ashley has been doing my hair for about 2 years now. Im super picky on who cuts my hair. I have a bob that is short in the back and long in the front and looked for a long time to find someone who had an eye for detail. 2 years ago I came across Ashley. At the time she worked for Fantastic Sams. She took the time to talk to me and understand what I wanted done with my hair before she even touched my hair. She has always taken the time to understand what I want and what my hair needs. She is a great stylist and a wonderful people person. I have never been treated better by a stylist until I found her. I recommend her to every man, women, or child who wants their hair to look great. more

I'd rate this salon a 5 if they'd been able to get my hair braided easily there (it was late in the evening and the 3 ladies there had no idea how to do a french braid); all I wanted was a french braid because it's hard for me to do it myself on top. They did braid it for me after investigating what it looked like and it worked out well and looked very nice for 2 days. I really like he fact that they were willing to try something they weren't familiar with and did so well. Everything else that I've had done at this salon was top rate (cut, style & color). I'm really pleased with each of the stylists (I've seen about 4 of them) and my husband has gone there for around 5 yrs. It's the only place he will go, because he's totally satisfied there. They talk to you like you're a friend, which I also totally enjoy when I'm pampering myself. more

I am so excited to be reunited with the best hair stylist EVER! I met Ash about 5 months ago when I went into Fantastic Sams by the Brookdale Mall and a stylist, (I think her name was Amy) cut my hair and totally ruined it. Then the owner told me she would fix it but that made it even worse. So I called the salon and asked to speak to the manager because I wanted my money back... I was done! After her sincerity over the phone, I decided I would go and let her see what she could do to fix it...if she could fix it. Turns out, I loved my hair!!!! Her customer service skills are A++ and her skills with hair is well beyond that. I am so happy that she has moved... I no longer have to deal with the awkwardness of running into the people that messed up my hair and made me cry. (I'm getting my hair colored by her on Tuesday... I am sooooo excited! Thanks Citysearch...If it wasn't for you I would have never found her! more
