RUDE and MEDIOCRE 1/14/2012

I've been to Tuscany's before and was greeted with great service, mediocre but creative food, and friendly staff. HOWEVER, I decided to go there again to celebrate a friend's birthday and was sadly disappointed with poor service, mediocre food, and the evening ruined by the attitude of our waiter. Middle aged, receding hairline, dark brown hair, moderate length, 190-200lbs. Working on Saturdays. We waited forever for our food but it was tolerable since the group had bread to snack on. Our waiter was rude and clearly forgot any sort of etiquette. I thought this was suppose to be a refined establishment?! Our waiter had the attitude that belonged in a corner diner with neon signs and coffee stains next to the plastic silverware. On another note, the food was mediocre. I had the Lemon Basil Farfalle and some of the pasta pieces were undercooked and broken. Along with that, there was a mix of real shrimp and frozen shrimp DROWNED in the lemon basil sauce. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $30+. In sum, this place has definitely gone downhill. Please, I urge you to find another place to eat. If you want to spend a lot of money on a nice dinner, do not come here. It will steal your money and leave you disappointed. I promise you'll be finding yourself on this site writing a terrible review. The only nice thing about the night was that there was complimentary valet (which doesn't always happen) and it came in handy when I wanted to LEAVE. --There's a reason they didn't win a 2011 recognition award and will not be receiving another in 2012. more

bad service 12/13/2010

My husband and I went to Tuscany last Saturday night to have couple glasses of wine and talk and spend nice time together. He suggested Tuscany because he knew that Tuscany has a big choice of wine. I drink only Pinot Noir and only french one. That was the reason why we did not go to Oyster bar, they do not serve French Pinot Noir, only Californian one, I guess French is too expensive for Oyster bar? Anyhow... We had valet to park our car, went into the bar, asked bartender for a glass of Pinot Noir, when he started to pour it, I told my husband that the color looks weird. Tasted it horribly bitter, that happens when the wine is bad quality, or when it sits for a while open and gets bitter. so i told bartender that I would prefer another Pinot Noir. He said this is the only one they sell by glass. i told him i dont want to be obligated to drink the whole bottle, but this Pinot Noir is bitter and is not drinkable. He was smiling. I love when people smile when you have a request and instead of helping you out or at least pretending that they care, they put a smile on their face and start explaining how what you ask for is impossible, just impossible. so I went to manager, thinking that now, when I will tell manager that I am leaving because of wine, he will send someone downstairs to get wine for me and open it and sell it by glass, especially that the price for a glass is a little more than the cost of the bottle... I happened to know what i drink.... anyway. manager explains to me how impossible is my request to have a normal glass of pinot noir, how there is nothing he can do... how he wishes there was something he could do, but thats just not possible... yes, i now realize i was asking too much... like i came to applebee's and asked them for a premium wine and they just dont have it...anyway. i left. paid 5 dol for parking, ( including 2 dol gratuity to valet) i was upset, i wasted my time, my mood and was very frustrated. luckily my husband suggested to go downtown where we went to the bar at grand america hotel and they poured us hobnob by glass, and i had three glasses and my husband had beer. anyways... we had great time, despite our experience in tuscany. i will make sure all my friends will know how snobby you guys are, and how crappy the service is. i drink pinot noir everywhere where ever i travel and it did not happen once that i got this kind of horrible response to my request to sell me a glass of pinot noir, that you had, but refused to serve me. i understand that one customer more or less does not make difference for you and i clearly saw it when speaking to manager. he did not care to serve me and satisfy me as a customer. but i will make sure to post my review on the facebook thank you Milla more

bartender is fake, wine is sold only by bottle 12/13/2010

fake bartender tried to pour me a glass of wine he said was pinot noir, but actually tasted more like wine that had been sitting for a while and became bitter and the color was different from pinot noir. asked for another one, he said no cannot do unless you buy a bottle of another one. manager is a joke, cannot resolve a HUGE problem i had - pour me a glass of pinot noir. they prefer to lose a customer but not to open a bottle of wine, a glass costs more than a whole bottle in the liquor store. so whats the problem? fake smile and nothing they can do... i did a horrible horrible request, now i understand it, how awful to ask these nice people for a glass of normal wine and where? in the restaurant that is advertising themselves as a place to go for wine.... never go back here.... bye bye tuscany, bye bye fake bartender... bye bye powerless fake manager ... and bye bye crappy service. you guys are full of yourselves more

bad. bad. bad. screwed up my mood and wasted my time 12/13/2010

my husband suggested Tuscany for their choice of wine, they do have a lot of choice, but by the bottle only. so if you are not familiar with exact name of wine you want to drink, you are buying overpriced bottle and you are stuck with it. manager is powerless, it is just a dude who says i am sorry and does nothing. sad sad sad. had to go somewhere else, totally pissed off. more

Thinking too highly of themselves 12/6/2010

We tried Tuscany again after serveral years only to be extremely disappointed. We were there on Sunday night, only to be met with valet only parking for 3$ which was ridiculous considering there were parking spots all over there place. There was no valet when we pulled in so we parked ourself right in front.-but still ended up having to pay for it. Not that the $3 was a big deal it was the principle of it all.\r The service was actually okay we had a pleasant waitress but the manager on who was helping out was lacking and forgot to bring us things he said he would.\r The food, the food is nothing special and I put it in the same category as Macaroni Grill. This resturant has been around forever and the menu has hardly changed. The quality doesn't match the price. Lastly, the after effects my husband and I experienced within an hour and all the next day for sure wasn't worth it.\r I will never go back. This is not a four star resturant just 4 star prices you will be better off at Tuscano's on Pierpont if you want quality 4 star Italian. more

Not my first choice 11/17/2010

I am not one to take the time to write a review, but I feel that Candace really needs some attention here. I was not impressed with the help at Tuscany. I can never get a hold of a live person to make a party reservation and when I finally did she was not helpful and rude. One of the coordinators Candace finally called me back to schedule a tour after a week of calling and when I went in she was not impressive at ALL to say the least. Very unprofessional and didn't seem to know a thing about how things were ran there. I sent my assistant in for another opinion and he wasn't even able to get a clear answer from anyone there about special events. May I suggest some professional training classes for the help there. more

Mediocre, Average, Ordinary, Standard and common 10/29/2009

Tuscany Restaurant SLC - Mediocre, Average, Ordinary, Standard and common . We attended a group dinner for 50 and the entire experience was lacking . The event intended to have appetizers and drinks prior to dinner. The room was cramped and the activity of "" cocktail hour "" could not happen because of the size of the room. The food was cold and over cooked as a prefix meal ( Pork chop and baked breaded salmon ) . I ordered vegetarian ( in advance ) no creativity or thought was given to the dish. And, I guess that the Tuscany Chef thinks that vegetarian people don't eat protein . I did not eat my dish at all and went home hungry. No coffee was offered with dessert, and the dinner was rushed to an end with the dishes being cleared before everyone at the individual tables were done eating. With the holiday season coming soon. I would not recommend this spot for your party. This is our second visit to Tuscany and no improvement from our first visit was experienced. Pros: The grounds Cons: Space, Service, Food more

Great place for out of town guests! 9/13/2009

beautiful and good food? 4/6/2009

One of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in. Our waiter was perfect;\r There when you want him to be, NOT when you don't (5th Anniversary). Even the bus\r boy had a great demeanor. We had fantastic food; seared salmon and sweet potato\r ravioli, a vast assortment of wines to select from (by the glass), and the check was\r still less than 100 bones with tip. I wasn't so thrilled about the seemingly\r mandatory valet but the rest of my experience at Tuscany made that part forgettable. Pros: the food and service! Cons: valet parking only more

great ambiance for our anniversary 4/6/2009

My husband and I wanted a romantic dinner for our third anniversary. The food was\r amazing and our waiter was friendly and knowledgable. This was our second time to\r visit Tuscany and we will dine there again! The port wine reduction was amazing and\r the beef was perfectly cooked. My husband had the Lazagna, it was the best by far of\r any we have ever tasted! The portions were just right and we felt was very affordable\r for a special night out. I enjoy the romantic decor and ambiance. We did not feel\r rushed and our server was perfect. more

wonderful experience! 4/6/2009

My experience was amazing. The overall quality of the restaurant was superb, starting\r with the excellent customer service to the quality of the food. The place itself is\r beautiful and makes you feel right at home the second you walk through the door. Our\r waitress was very friendly and very responsive to anything we needed. I will be going\r back there very soon! more

Fabulous experience 3/26/2009

The ambiance promotes romance and relaxation. The service was excellent. My husband accidentally splashed a little something on his shirt, and our waiter was there with club soda and a towel. He was attentive, but not intrusive. The wine list was excellent. My dinner was also very good. Highly recommend for a romantic night. Pros: Excellent service, wine list, ambiance and food Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Great night out 1/28/2009

My wife and I recently had dinner at Tuscany. We had heard many things about Tuscany and where very excited about finally getting the chance to go to dinner there. The evening lived up to all of the expectations. From the moment we entered the mood was set for us to have a great evening. Our food was wonderful, we shared the risotto, and the pork chop. We had waited for so long because we thought it was a place we should save for that ?special? night. We realized that for the amount of food and the casual atmosphere we should eat here more often. Pros: food, service, serving size more
