Fun! Fun! Fun! 5/25/2011

Wow! Yes, it’s huge and in the middle of Times Square. And yes, there is a large Ferris wheel in the middle of it! But what you might not know is the products they carry here. If you have ever gone to Toys R Us during holiday season, you know how fast things leave the shelves. Somehow, this Toys R Us tries there hardest to keep up with the products flying off the shelf and putting it back on. I think they seriously might have everything you’re looking for. On top of that, you’ll find things you never knew existed. Having about a total of 8 nieces and nephews to buy for around Christmas is tedious. I get my list ready, go into one store, come out and still have to buy 7 more things. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I really discovered this Toys R Us. They seem to have everything and anything you need or maybe just want. Every year there is always that one toy that gets sold out and people go crazy for. Have you ever tried this Toys R Us? I remember going here that one year when Wii Fit was the latest game and everybody wanted it. It was sold out in stores all around the city. If you came to this store you would’ve seen stacks of them. Not only do they have the products you are looking for, it is nicely laid out and organized. There are several floors with signs that help you navigate throughout the store. Even if you didn’t know where to go, the people are really helpful. This is one place we take visitors to. Go on the ride in the middle of Toys R Us just because you could. It’s pricy but worth the experience. Then find the way to your favorite toy area, whether it is Lego’s, stuffed animals, or Barbies, its all so much fun. more

does not serve minorities 5/17/2009

My brother and I went to the resturant yesterday to be served breakfast. We were not greeted immediately. Some staff just stood there and looked at us in amazement. The others completely ignored us. After a few minutes we were seated and had to wait a few more minutes to be served a menu. There were waiters and waitress, five in total, and no one wanted to serve us. Later, a caucasian couple came in. They were greeted with a smile and handed a menu when they were seated. I was totally saddened that such prejudice still occurs in New York, especially in Times Square where visitors from all around the world come to enjoy the sites of New York. We left this Brooklyn Diner with such feelings of hurt and shock that I felt compelled to let others know about the horrible, prejudicial treatment that this diner offers. This review is a plea to the owner and staff of this diner to please rethink this policy of discrimination. We are all human beings on this earth doing the best we can. The least anyone asks is to be served with dignity and respect. Cons: does not serve minorities more

The Best Breakfast!!! 4/2/2009

The breakast is to die for. I mean delicous and you are always satisfied. Mean and my husband came by once before but we recent had breakfast there and it was amazing. The french toast is decadent and they make this side called Mario's Polenta. I mean they need an award. This Mario's Polenta is these fried bytes of heaven. Go to the Breakfast but come before 11am becuase you'll be missing out. Pros: The wait staff is wonderful. Cons: Breakfast ends at 11am. more

terrific kugel 6/8/2008

The kugel that I had with my beef stew (of all things, just to try it) was so good that I almost begged for the recipe. Service was very good, personable, and whenasked for suggestions, they were gladly given. Reasonable prices (very) for Times Square. We would definitely go back.\r Good as a pre-show dinner, or after a Broadway matinee. more

Best mac and cheese ever! 1/4/2008

I had lunch at Brooklyn Diner a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I have not had mac and cheese that good and creamy anywhere. It was really, really good. My lunch partner ordered the 15-bite hot dog, which definitely lives up to its name, but it is surprisingly very good meat despite its size and thickness. I went in for lunch today and had the margherita pizza--not recommended. I'm a New Yorker so I like pizza with a thick crust. BD's pizza was made on a very thin crust, more like a tortilla and it did not have that fresh taste of tomatoes as is typical of a margherita pizza. It was more like a cheese ""pizza"" tortilla. Their signature strawberry shortcake cheesecake is to die for though. Very rich and creamy, the best I've ever had. The service is excellent. It does get crowded given the location but after 2:00 pm the crowd dies down (for lunch patrons). Overall I like the feel of the restaurant, the menu is varied and the food is good. Pros: Good food, decent atmosphere, good service Cons: Expensive, crowded at times more

Pleasant setting, reasonable prices, great food, attentive staff 7/3/2007

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon The Brooklyn Diner as we made our way to Times Square and decided to forego our usual choices, Red Lobster/Olive Garden. As soon as we went in we were pleasantly greeted and promptly seated by the friendly male host at the door. At first I wasn't sure there was anything I'd want to order but finally decided on the Chicken Kiev while my dining partner chose the Drunken Mahi Mahi. The wait was decent and when our food was served, it came directly from a member of the kitchen staff instead of from our waitress. Both of our meals were quite tasty and enjoyable and I'd recommend both dishes to anyone. For dessert (which is what it seems this restaurant is best known for), we had the famous cheesecake and chocolate coconut banana cream pie. Absolutely delicious. On another note, the bathrooms were exceptionally clean as well. On our way out, the host paused from his conversation with one of the waiters to thank us and wish us well. The service was impeccable, the setting was pleasant, the food was great and the prices were also quite decent. We had a most enjoyable dining experience at The Brooklyn Diner and would not only recommend it to others, but would also dine there again. Pros: service, food, clean restrooms more
