Best

Perhaps I found it so amazing because I generally consider buffet restaurants to be of poor quality, but I really thought this place was amazing. So much variety and so many cultu...

Worst

We went to Todai Monday for my birthday. The meal started out with an ICE COLD glass of Cabernet. I had to send that back. The buffet looked like things on it had been out since l...

Avoid it like the plague. 7/21/2005

Todai, nestled in the rapidly fading popular teen hangout ""The MarQ-E, serves up sushi, crab legs, green tea desserts, and crabs galore. The buffet if I recall correctly costs a whopping $17.95 per person. Pros: Good selection, Crabs, Lobster(sometimes) Cons: Not enough lobster, Sushi is gross, Too expensive more

Best Sushi for the price 7/2/2004

Went on a Friday night about 5:00. All the way from the southeast side of town. Moderate crowd. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. The selection of sushi although not premier was overall good. The price was great considering the amount of sushi my husband and I eat would cost 3 to 4 times more. Some of the items we have never seen on a buffet only in a more upscale japanese restaurant. Did not try deserts ( too full from the sushi) Will definately go for b-days. Pros: food, service, neat decor more

Good deal on your birthday 5/3/2004

I've been to Todai several times for lunch (~$15) and dinner (~$25), and although I agree the sushi and sashimi is not of the highest quality, it is good for a buffet. I went in early May 2004, and they did have the free birthday meal. (They discontinued this special for some time, so I would call and check before going for someone's birthday.) The snow crab at dinner is my favorite thing - although it was a little salty. They've started to limit the lobster tails to one per person, so no more stingy lobster guy. The udon is delicious, as is some hot food. My eyes have a bigger appetite than my stomach when I come to Todai! more

Today 12/6/2003

First of all, FIRE the lobster guy!!! He doesn't know how to serve customer! Some of their food is good but some others is WORST! Like the Udon tempura is really really good, have to try it. Also, the steamed fish is fresh and hot, all others fishes are good too. But don't even try to touch the desert, it's all look nice but when you eat it, it's like the worst taste desert i have ever had, too sweet, sometime tasteless, sometime bitter! YUCK! Pros: Fish! Fish! Fish!, Soup! Soup! UDON!, Nice place Cons: Parking lot more

Quantity NOT Quality 3/6/2003

The service was awful. The waiter didn't even come by except for taking drink orders and handing the check. The value of this place is average but don't expect quality food, especially the sushi. Pros: location Cons: food, crowded more

Horrible! 3/2/2003

People told me it was a great place, but when I got there it was like a war going on. Kids were running around and people were all over the place waiting at the entrance. I was almost going to leave, but decided to give it a try. Waited for 45 min and it was too crowded and I cannot relax at all. The food was okay, I guess. I would probably never go back there again. Cons: Too crowded, Too noisy, Too busy more

cardboard sushi 1/3/2003

All the sushi tastes like cardboard.. thats what happens when it sits there for a long time! This place is a total ripoff! Try Kirin for a much better sushi buffet! more

Worst sushi in town! 10/22/2002

Ok, sushi tastes best when cut correctly and eaten very soon after being sliced. This place has a bunch of untrained busboys slicing sushi for you that sits there for a long time. I will never ever go here for sushi. The sushi here is so disgusting!!! Pros: dry bland sushi, overpriced, bad food more

Luv Snow Crab 9/7/2002

I usually eat a whole bunch of snow crab, lobster and when in season, raw oysters when I go here. I like their ramen too. But the guy at the lobster area has gotten so rude. I like my snow crabs warm, so I have him heat them. The last time I was there (8-29-2002) he almost threw the pan of hot snow crabs at me. SO RUDE! Otherwise, I love this place! more

sushi love 8/15/2002

I rediscover sushi thanks to Todai, I love it, but not good if you have child, difficult to get into it Pros: good sushi, all you want it, good deserve more

Get Your Sushi On! 7/29/2002

This place rocks! Eating as much sushi as you want and only paying one price! I've going to all the Todais in the U.S. from Houston to Hawaii. I would totally recommend visitors to the Lone Star state to go there. Pros: great value, Fresh fish, Excellent desserts Cons: selected serving time, crowded parking, sometimes snotty host more

Great for Birthdays because it's FREE!!! 7/25/2002

This is a great places, especially on your birthday. The $25 is wavied so it's FREE baby. The variety is impressive. Actually, the best part is the tempura udon. It's very good. I'm a big time raw osyter so it doesn't matter where you cook it. I load up on the shrimp, osyter and raw fish, then I was it down with the udon. While I wouldn't call this the best sushi in town, but you'll go broke if you eat the amount I ate in any other Japanese place. And besides, did I mention it's Free on my birthday. more

Tight in Lobsters 6/4/2002

The guy who serves the lobster is so stingy in giving us lobsters, I was asking for 3 one-half lobsters and the guy just gave me 1 piece which is really 1/2. See the way they serve their lobster is 1/2 and also everytime my daughter comes back for a lobster they give her a size a little bigger than a crawfish. I thought it was eat all you can but really ""Eat all you can except the lobsters."" I'm telling you that guy serving those lobsters he is really tight on those lobsters. Pros: good food Cons: stingy on lobsters more
