I have waited at home for three days since my appointment to have my car picked up and detailed. Nobody called to let me know they were not coming. Every time I called, they had an excuse. Yesterday it was rain (it was definitely raining). Today it was rain (it's not raining). \r I'm trying to sell my car right away, and I told George that I didn't mind if it gets rained on, because I need to get it sold and I'm primarily concerned about the interior. I wasn't accusatory, just letting him know the facts. He was extremely rude, and said ""Well, you just need to find someone who likes working in the rain, then!"" and HUNG UP ON ME!\r I don't see how someone can stay in business and treat people this way.\r \r more

When I first took my car to Autoshine it was on the recommendation of my mechanic. The first time they did a very good job. I thought the price was fair and they did a better job than I would have.\r \r The second, and last, time I took my car there it was a disaster. To start off I was promised that my car would be ready when I came by after work. Instead they decided other cars were more important and I ended up having to wait for my car. Unfortunately there were problems when they were done. The biggest was that they had worn right through the paint on the edges of my passenger side door. ( I assume they brought out the orbital waxer in lieu of the hand waxing to get the car out faster). I spoke to the person that detailed my car and he denied doing it. I spoke to their manager and then to the owner George. After arguing with him for a while he told me to ,""Take your f'n car off my f'n lot and bring me a bill and I might f'n pay it.""\r \r As you might imagine I do not recommend this place. Pros: The did a nice job once. Cons: Standing behind their work and customer service are things they do not understand. more

Car detailing was done poorly with areas missed - like dashboard, fuel door, door jambs. Sheen was gone in 48 hours. Additional problems include: a loss of a CD wallet (owner explained they returned it to the wrong customer's car), and that they would not honor their web or Chronicle coupon. I recently had my new - 4 year old car - detailed at Autoshine of Austin and that is the best decision I could have made to bring my car back to a beautiful new car appearance. I have a busy work schedule so their pick up and delivery service was really convenient and George (the owner) does the pick up and delivery himself so I felt like my car was in good hands. My car was previously owned by a heavy smoker and Autoshine completely got rid of the smell and the stains! That's AMAZING! They also did an excellent job of restoring the shine to the paint and they even cleaned my trunk. I felt their customer service was excellent and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a professional detail for their car. I have previously done business with 2 other detail shops in town, one on Burnet Road in a really large shop (size obviously doesn't matter) and one on South Lamar - and there is no comparison. Some claim to be the best when all they do is cover up problems or try to sell you something you don't need. George Harlan at Autoshine has the experience and the knowledge to do the right job for a very competitive price and after getting my car back - I knew I had made the right choice. I've taken my cars to George for over 5 years and each time I get back a beautiful vehicle. They've never missed a thing and even replaced my cars badges when the chrome was wearing.\r \r BTW: They normally charge $2 to remove bumper stickers but since Georce is a UT fan, he's offered to remove my A&M Former Students sticker for free each time I come in. :-)\r \r They are great folks and they give excellent service. more

This business was formerly know as Details by George and is now called AutoShine. The owner is the same as before. I took my car here and while the outside had a good washing, the interior was not done. I told them to make sure the interior was to be focused on but it was hardly touched. The reason I do not recomend this place is because when I called to say the job was not done and that I wanted it finished I was blown off. I asked for an appointment so that they could finish the job but was told that they were too busy and no appointment could be made. If you use them anyway, make sure they drop it off in daylight hours so you can see the work before you pay. Mine was dropped off at night so I did not notice the problem until the next day. Pros: Will pick up your car. Cons: The person who delivered it back was driving it roughly and the stereo was turn up all the way! more
