Best

As a new Mesa resident, I wanted to find a dojo where I could train. So I conducted a Google search on the art of Aikijujustu wondering if there were any dojos near me. I found ...

Worst

Yikes- avoid this place like the plague! Not nice people. Wasted my money and time and my child did not learn anything. Money hungry owners, for sure.

Budo Shingikan 7/19/2011

I started up classes at the dojo back in May and ever since that day it has been a second home to me, I would bleed for the place and all the people in it. I have made some amazing friends that I will never forget, opportunities have come up in other aspects of my life through my fellow students, and everyone there has the mindset of being a family. The atmosphere in the dojo is breath-taking, martial artists all around you and every sensei would gladly assist you with anything that you want to know. I take the Aiki Ninjutsu class twice a week and I never want to do anything else, I count down the days until I get to go back to class to train and spend time with all the fantastic people there. Students of the dojo all help each other and help out around the dojo itself all the time as well. and the deal is EPIC, one monthly payment with no contract (cheaper than nearly every single martial art school I have looked at in the valley) and you get to take ANY classes you want. ANY. You could be there 6 days a week if you had the time, learn all the different arts and also the weaponry class, and Japanese language! All included! Family packs make it cheaper for entire familys who come in as well. So if a family is looking to get the kids into something awesome and want to spend quality time together each and every week, you save there too! I honestly don't know what I would do without the classes each week, one of the best things that I have ever done in my life. I hope to see more and more new faces join our family really soon! I look forward to training with you soon! Aiki Ninjutsu student of the Budo Shinkikan Dojo -Josh Wakefield more

Excellent and authentic school 7/18/2011

This school of Japanese Martial Arts in high quality. The focus is self defense, not learning how to fight. This approach empowers kids and provides confidence. The instructors encourage self-control and teach how the mind controls the body. The instructors clearly have a wealth of knowledge on the subject of Japanese Marital Arts, and it is obvious that the owner has studied the art for a long time. We highly recommend this school for your family. more

Great Dojo! 7/18/2011

First I was just looking for a local martial arts studio that was convenient and close to home for my son. Budo Shingikan School is that and so much more! My son has chosen the martial art of Aikido and enjoys the training. With that, he also has the opportunity to learn other Japanese martial arts that are taught at the dojo. The training is thorough and comprehensive. The instructors are professional and on top of their game. They have become family and we have met many friends with others who have started the journey with Budo Shingikan. more

Amazing Dojo 7/18/2011

We just walked into Budo Shingikan Dojo to show our 4 year old daughter what karate looks like. She immediately felt comfortable and jumped right in. Two months later, my husband and I are about to start Aikido too!\r \r The classes are well paced and keep my daughter on her toes. Both Darrell Sensei and Shannon have made class comfortable for our little one and no one can ask for more. Shannon has really gone well beyond what I would have expected in working with my daughter.\r \r A great group of people with knowledge and skills to share...love it!! more

Totally Blown Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7/18/2011

The Budo Shingikan Dojo has something for the entire family. I was originally looking for a martial arts school for myself, but after meeting the instructors and talking with some of the students I signed up my whole family! The instructors are top notch! I now have 4 traditional arts to train in. The wife, who swore to never train in martial arts, loves the Women's Self Defense Class can't wait for the yoga and pilates classes to start! My son, after being injured in an MMA school (that I shall not mention), enjoys training in the Jujutsu and Hapkido. My daughter never misses the Ninjutsu and Aikido classes. As you can see we have very different tastes in what we want as far as training, but Budo Shingikan has it all! The best part is that it's all offered at a very affordable price-definitely the best bang for the buck! more

Budo Shingikan Rocks! 7/18/2011

Our family has been searching for a ""real"" Dojo to become part of the family and we finally found it at Budo Shingikan. Darrell Sensi is wonderful. The level of teaching and instruction is the best bar none. Shannon is a true pleasure to deal with, she really makes one feel like they belong and makes sure all is as it should be. We could not be happier with our finding this Dojo and the folks who make it so special! Budo Shingikan is the BEST! more
