Great service, great food, awesome neighborhood restaurant! 11/15/2007

We went into Ten Mercer the other night after the ballet for a late dinner and bottle of wine. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, even with a full lobby at 10:30 at night! We were promptly taken upstairs, sat at a great table for two and thouroughly taken care of. It was busy and people were running around but it never felt hectic. Our server recommended a great bottle of wine and the proscuitto wrapped almond stuffed dates. They were amazing! We had the venison and chicken, both of us loved the choices with our wine. Overall, this restaurant is a gem at the bottom of Queen Anne! Pros: Great late night food! Full menu offered until midnight Cons: Waiting with the crowd to get into the restaurant more

Very Poor Service 11/5/2007

I visited Ten Mercer for the first time last Thursday. A friend and I sat down at a table in the bar and 10 minutes later no one had stopped by to get us drinks. Finally a really nice girl dropped of some water and we asked her if we could order a drink. She passed on our order to the server. In the meantime a few other friends showed. The server finally came by, dropped the two drinks off, and walked away without asking if she could get the other guests a drink. After about another 10 minutes we finally went up to the bar to order drinks for the remainder of the party. The server kept walking by us and ignoring our ""excuse me's."" Finally they called us to our table. We walked up there and waited another 10 minutes for anyone to stop by and take our drink order. We ordered a few appetizers, which were so-so. When we were all finished I walked out to get my car (at 7:30pm) and the attendant was not standing at the podium. I waited about 5 minutes and walked back inside to ask the hostess if maybe the attendant waited inside since it was so cold and the parking lot was full. She said he probably went home for the night and my keys were at the bar. So off to the bar I went and waited another 10 minutes for a bartender to tell me he had no idea what I was talking about. Overall, the restaurant seems poorly run. The servers and bartenders are rude and uninformed and the food is unimpressive. more

Don't order the coffee 2/6/2007

First time to Ten Mercer last Friday night for a light, late meal. I ordered lobster bisque. It was very thin with some type of minced, mystery fish. Zero flavor. Ordered a glass of red wine and a few sips into it I noticed a tentacle like residue on the side of the glass. Soo, ordered a cup of coffee which arrived luke warm. I asked the waitress for some hot coffee and she replied, ""Oh, I checked it with my finger and it seemed hot."" \r \r ""Check please"". more

good neighborhood bistro 1/14/2007

went here before a play (too bad the play couldn't have been as good as our meal here.) started with the samosas with feta and walnuts. they were good, but show me fried dough with chees and nuts that isn't. mercer salad for the second course was okay, as well. tasted two entrees: the garlic chick and the braised lamb shank. go with the lamb. slow cooked until it falls from the bone, you can really taste the flavour of the meat. the faintest essence of cinnamon is left in your mouth after you swallow, too. served with grilled polenta, this is the dish. the garlic chicken is good - don't get me wrong. great flavor and a hearty plate with fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus. but the lamb is something i would go back for. the only disappointment was the bread pudding, which had the taste and consistency of oatmeal with cran-raisins in it. ick. to their credit, they removed it from the bill when they saw it went untouched. all around a good choice for a neighborhood bistro. hurray! Pros: food Cons: parking more

I'm a lamb convert! 11/4/2006

Some friends took me here for dinner and I never knew that I would ever like the taste of lamb in my life. Service was great, even on a weekday. Great ambiance too, its nice to see that in a restaurant within proximity of Key Arena/Seattle Center. more

wonderfule surprise 4/22/2006

We came out of ""Tuesdays with Morrie"" at the Rep and hadn't eaten yet, so looked for a place close by, and decided on 10 Mercer. Wonderful food, extremely good service, even a table side visit from the owner. We made a good choice! Grilled salmon was perfect, artichoke risotto flavorful, and the samosas were a treat. Pros: delicious Cons: a little noisy more

Underrated 3/11/2006

Do you get it? 10 Mercer lays it out on their sign, Dinner and Drinks For combination of menu, wine list, decor, vibe and value a top restaurant anywhere in the U.S. Service rocks as well. By the way 03 Telegraphe is $88?! Pros: wine prices, bartenders more

Great Experience! 3/7/2006

Being from out of out of town, looking for a place to eat, we ended up here. We are so glad we ended up here though!!! It made our visit to Seattle a great experience. We didn't have a reservation but were quickly seated at the bar. Brandon was an excellent/entertaining bartender - very knowledable!! Dinner had great presentation, but without the tiny portions that usually come along with it! Highly suggest the garlic crusted chicken... phenominal! Already planning a trip back to Seattle just so I can eat here again! Pros: Bartender, Martini, Romantic more

Looks pretty tastes okay, not special 3/7/2006

popped in for a bite after a Monday night show. Looks pretty but the food was not great for what we paid. the wild green salad would have been good if it were not drowned in dressing. Fettuccini carbonara was a little overcooked. chocolate silk cloyingly sweet. Staff was nice but didnt know the bar, but it was a Monday night..... We felt that more energy was spent making the place and the food look nice, than on the actually dishes themselves... Pros: close to theaters, good wine list Cons: dull food, not cheap more

Great Food, Atmosphere 1/27/2006

After an evening of wondering where we should eat, we settled on Ten Mercer and are so glad we did. After having some trouble finding parking we were ushered upstairs to a great table overlooking both the bar and busy street. The food was very fresh and had great balance of flavor. If you enjoy Risotto, the Lobster Risotto was prepared to perfection. This is a great place to go after a play or before a night on the town. Pros: Food, Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

Happy New Year! 1/3/2006

Made late reservations for New Years Eve. Arrived early and my girl and I were promplty taken care of at the bar. Moet Rose by the glass-- yum! Seated upstairs we got a table by the window- we shared the whole fried bass -stunning- and the lobster risotto- delicious. Bust bang for the buck in Seattle by far. Great service, room, food. Going to be regualrs in '06! Pros: wines by the glass, valet parking, great food more

Who puts carrots in their risotto??? 12/31/2005

Great cocktails, but avoid Ten Mercer's risotto with extreme prejudice. It's flavorless and for some reason the chefs thought carrots in said dish was a good idea. The waiter while punctual had little personality and seemed rather put off that we were sitting at his table. I would only come back for the cocktails which were very good. more

Great Experience 12/12/2005

My husband and I celebrated out first anniversary at 10 Mercer with a group of eleven. We recieved warm and gracious service (lot's of special requests), exciting cusine and spot on wine service for our oenophile friends. Going to be bringing more business their way very soon! Pros: service, menu, wine service more

Horribly Dissappointing 12/3/2005

Snobbery ALERT! (I've never before written a negative review about anything)... While hosting out of town guests we were early to arrive at 10 Mercer St. for early evening cocktails when the hostess/manager? made it clear we were a hassle to be dealt with. We arrived to their locked door just minutes before they were to open and happily stood in the cold for several minutes before the terribly rude woman opened the door not to let us in but to tell us to COME BACK LATER! Regrettably, we did just that, and were greeted in an equally unfriendly manner again. All tables were empty though we were told we could only sit at a small and uncomfortable corner spot. No Washington wines and our waitress was hurried and rude. They rolled their eyes, they scoffed at our inquiry of beers on tap and possible appetizer suggestions... They were horrible. Cons: rude staff, uncomfortable, winelist more

Brandon is the best bartender in Seattle! 10/12/2005

Ten Mercer is an excellent place for a romantic dinner. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is unique and romantique, the drinks are perfect, and the service is outstanding! I highly recommend this as a date spot! Pros: reasonable prices, excellent bartenders, wonderful food more

Delectable food and great service 9/12/2005

We were visiting in Seattle and ate here during the ""Dinner at 8"" promotion -- 3 courses for $20. The garlic-encrusted chicken was done perfectly -- tender, flavorful, with crispy skin -- quite possibly the best chicken I've ever had. Service was very good. We have a lot of good restaurants in San Francisco and Ten Mercer beats many of them. Highly recommended. more

Ten Mercer... 5/12/2005

...on a scale of 1 to 10, Ten being the worst! Aside from the wierdos behind the bar, the awkward clientel speaks for itself. Oh wait, they're wierd too. I will never go back unless I'm looking for a laugh. Pros: Laughs Cons: Staff, Patrons, Atmosphere more

10 is Tops! 1/14/2005

We stopped by after seeing Sideways at the Uptown. Could not have had a better time. They even had wines by the glass selected to celebrate the movie we had just seen. We shared the whole fried bass-messy-tasty-fun! A diamond in the rough of Queen Anne. Pros: Open late, Wines by the glass, relaxed more
