Wow! Where you there ?..............well you should have been. We were in the backyard and even had service back there.......Never had to leave our cozy area exept to use the ladies room. We meet 5 Marathon Runners who came back to the bar with thier MEDALS. It was a blast. The complimentary bufet for the customers was gr-8 too....all homemade from what I heard.....went welll with the pitchers of Bloody Mary's! Great hang out 11/14/2004

Tavern on First is one of those bars where you always feel welcome. The patio out back is a huge plus, especially with NYC smoking bans, and for non-smokers who like the outdoor option. It's also a great place to watch sporting events, as it has ample tv's and one in the patio area too! The crowd is cool, not pretentious, etc. and always fun. Most definitely a spot to check out! Pros: Outside Space, Inexpensive, Friendly more

Marathon Sunday a HIT ! 11/9/2004

If you weren't running the marathon, THE TAVERN was the place to be............. I got to cheer on the runners, then relax in the comfortable backyard with my pitcher of Bloody Mary. The service was great and the free ""munchies"" were terrific. Met some very nice people (including some runners) and looking forward to watching Sunday football with them there at THE TAVERN on the plasma screens.............. Classy Place 11/3/2004

I have been to the Tavern On First several times now. The best part about the place is that there are different people in the bar every time along with the same friendly neighborhood people. I love going to Karaoke night which takes place every Friday and hosted by LORI.....Saturday's are up and coming with a live dj....this place is new and has lots of promise for the people of Yorkville! Pros: Backyard for smokers, 7 t.v's more

Newcomer to the UES 5/3/2004

This bar is spotless! Just opened by 3 neighborhood guys who have been friends for years. The garden is a major plus. Rumor has it, the BBQ will be fired up this summer! Plasma TV's are a plus for sports. FREE munchies sporadically too! A must go to when on the UES! more
