HORRID UNETHICAL BUSINESS THAT NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN 9/16/2009

The Spa Sydell gift certificate policy is the most unethical, unprofessional, horrid business practices out there. It has to be illegal. DON'T GO! There are too many nice spas out there to waste your money on such a crappy business. What they do with their gift certificates is nothing less than thievery. Cons: Rude, Unethical, Poor Quality more

Over-priced for such poor service 6/22/2009

I read the reviews before going. My wife gave me a gift certificate, and seeing the hundreds of $$$ lost by clients who did not use their gift certificate immediately, I decided i had better not wait to use it. In California, gift certificates can not reduce in value or expire. This is a ridiculous, unethical practice. I informed the staff when I came in of the poor reviews that they had received, and why. The staff was not really interested, not did they show me any respect. The massage was OK, but I have gotten much better massages for a fraction the price. Why waste your $$4 here? Pros: Quickly accommodated Cons: Poor service for the buck. Not treated nice. Looked down on. more

New Owners 3/4/2009

Spa Sydell has been sold to IN SPA which is located in Washington state . They are a lower end spa, kind of like massage envy. Word is they will not accept gift certificates bought under the name of SPA SYDELL . Not sure what the new name of the company will be or what other changes are to come. Ladies and gentlemen use your gift certificates as soon as possible. more

Perfect total experience 6/27/2008

I am now an official ""spa girl!"" My friend goes to Spa Sydell every month and finally talked me into joining her for a girl's day out. I made an appointment for wax and nails. I love the feel of the spa with the waterfalls, candles, and music. I was taken to the waiting area after I arrived and Dorina came to pick me up for the wax. I wasn't too excited about the service but wanted the results. She was very nice and talked to me during the process to help take my mind off it. The results were great and i actually left smiling. I then went back to wait for my nail person. I sipped on some cucumber water while relaxing in the dim and quiet. My manicure and pedicure are the best i've ever had. The polish is perfectly flawless. The pedicure took longer than i expected and I enjoyed every minute of it. Both of the ladies suggested products (which i didn't buy) but they weren't pushy about it either. \r \r Honestly, it was the nicest day i've had in awhile and I will definitely be back! Next time I will try a facial which my friend has every time. Pros: Zero stress environment, nice staff, excellent service Cons: none! more

ok 6/14/2008

i went to spa sydell for a leg and bikini wax and a spray tan. this was the first time i'd done something like this and the tech was really nice. the spray tan was good but she made a couple of mistakes and didn't try too hard to fix them even after i pointed them out. there was definately a sales pitch, like other people have said. when i said i didn't want the extra products everyone turned really cool and clip. for the price i wouldn't go there again. i expect that if i go to a ""spa"" for a service that i get a ""spa"" experience, not something i can get from a nail salon down the street for half the price. more

Avoid Spa Sydell Like the Plague!!! 4/9/2008

I was looking forward to FINALLY using 3 old spa gift certificates that I had received as gifts for my upcoming 30th birthday, but was informed that I could not redeem them because they are over 2 years old. That's over $400 of my friends' and families' hard earned money that they flat out STOLE. I am a VERY busy person and unfortunately haven't had time to take off a whole day to spend at the spa until now. I looked forward to a nice relaxing day at the spa for my 30th, but now I have to inform my friends and family that all their generosity went to waste. Money is money... these gift certificates should not expire. I realize prices may have changed, but I was more than willing to pay the difference. I will certainly be telling all of my friends and family to never buy me another gift certificate from this corrupt company again, and I warn everyone to avoid this unprofessional business like the plague! They aren't even that great of a spa to begin with. Cons: They steal people's hard earned money more

Spa Sydell a joke 1/28/2008

The owner sydell she only wants the money don't go there Go somewhere else the owners steal from there employees and work the to the DEATH! do not go I repeat DO NOT GO you will waste your hard earned Money! Pros: The management Is so bad Cons: The techs are treated like dirt more

This place is supposed to make you feel good??? 1/18/2008

Customer Service reps were snooty, they gave me a hard time about my gift certificate......since when do gifts expire???? I am 9 months preganant and on maternity leave, hence I finally have the time to actually get a massage. But they would not honor my certificate. So, now the $85 that my friend spent on me to get a massage is wasted. DO NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO PAMPER YOURSELF, I DO NOT AND LOOK WHAT I GET...HEARTLESS CUSTOMER SERVICE IN A HEARTLESS COMPANY! Pros: plenty of locations Cons: Snobbery more

Why is this supposed to be the best spa in town..I think ""NOT"" 7/5/2007

I decided to treat myself to a Spa for the first time and choosed Spa Sydell ( Duluth) for my 1st decision. I have to say that I was fully DISSAPOINTED in their customer service. The front desk acts like blacks arent supposed to be there. I left and would never return there again and wouldnt refer anyone there if my life depended on it. Went to Massage Envy and they have the best prices in town and its professional and staff is nice. Become a memeber and get 1 hr massage for $39 Pros: pretty Cons: poor customer service more

Wonderful experience. 5/19/2005

I would like to thank the wonderful staff at Spa Sydell. I was greeted promptly at I entered the spa. I am used to bigger and more elegant spas, but my first impression was already great. I was scheduled for a day with Sydell, and every part of my day was wonderful, right down to the lovely salad. I would recommend Spa Sydell - particularly the Gwinnet location - to anyone who is interested in relaxing and being pampered. Pros: Friendly staff, Relaxing atmosphere Cons: Needs re-modeling more

GREAT SPA!! 2/1/2005

I have been to several spa all over the US. I have never had such great customer service before in my life. I have been in customer service throughout my career and I expect a lot out of employees, especially employees at a sap, and my expectations were completely met. My massage therapist and esthetician were both phenomenal!! I would highly recommend Spa Sydell to anyone who asks!! Pros: Great location more

Outstanding 12/20/2004

Not only was the location convenient, but also the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I had the best massage here! I felt more relaxed than I had in years. Pros: convenient location, great service, nice staff more

Not a great experience 11/3/2004

I went during the middle of the week, when things were a little slower. The receptionist at the Gwinnett location was lukewarm. Gerry who did my facial, was very nice. The facial was good, and their products fabulous. There was a little bit of a retail sales pitch during the facial. During the treatment, you could hear others talking and laughing outside the room. I also felt like the last half of the facial was a little rushed. But, after the facial, my skin looked great. During checkout, Gerry had placed products she recommended at checkout. When I asked the receptionist to write them down for me, because I would purchase them off the website, she was accommodating, but not very nice. As I was leaving several employees were gathered in the hall talking. Not the professional relaxing atmosphere I would expect for the cost of their services. Pros: good facial, excellent products Cons: , pressure to buy more more
