Best mechanic ever - I won't ever use anyone else 10/16/2011

I've always been treated fairly at Slaugh's - repairs are always less expensive than I anticipate and Mike is always honest and upfront about what needs to be done (and, even better, what doesn't need to be done!). I highly recommend this shop. more

Awesome, Fast and Reliable! 10/7/2011

I did a thorough review and research of these guys before I decided to repair my Jeep there. Mike was very upfront and honest and they did a fantastic job on the Starter Motor with a warranty on it that is solid. Will definantly use again!! more

So disappointed 9/29/2010

We have been so disappointed with Slaughs. They came highly recommended by a friend and I must agree with some that Mike is a very friendly person. It is too bad that they produce such poor workmanship. more

Fabulous place! 7/20/2009

Like many people have commented, I am a single woman who has found it hard to find people who won't rip me off. Mike is always fair, and I trust him and I trust the work. Fantastic. Pros: Trustworthy mechanics Cons: None that I've found more

Honest and Hard Working Mechanic - Best in Salt Lake! 7/7/2009

Mike Slaugh has been there for me through thick and thin. I can always count on him to make the right repairs and avoid the unnecessary ones. Always kind, always courteous, the work is guaranteed. Mike absolutely won't talk down to you or try to get you to spend money on services you don't need. If you have a problem with some work that's been done, just let him know and he'll make it right. If Mike can't get a job done for whatever reason, he will recommend another mechanic who he trusts instead of stringing you along for weeks. I can't believe the bad reviews I have read on this site as I have never had anything but a positive painless experience with Mike. I once told him that I appreciated his honesty and excellent customer service and he simply responded by saying ""That's the only way we could deserve your business."" If you need work done, Mike's shop is the place to go. And remember, even if your car won't start, there's a good chance you can roll it downhill to the convenient location. Pros: Honest, convenient location, fair prices. Cons: Not open on weekends more

The Best 5/1/2009

I have been to dozens of mechanics in my life. As a single woman, I have been 'taken for a ride' by many of them. That all ended when I discovered Slaugh's approximately 12 years ago. They have always exceeded my expectations with quality workmanship, fair pricing, and prompt service. A few years ago, I moved a significant distance away from Slaugh's. Because of this, I took my car to a local mechanic. They failed to accurately diagnose, and therefore, repair my vehicle. I took it to Slaugh's and the problem is fixed. I learned a valuable lesson. Slaugh's expertise is worth the drive. I'll never go anywhere else again. Pros: Honest, Fair Prices, Prompt more

3 brakes replaced instead of 4 12/9/2008

I failed inspection because of the handbrake and Slaugh's told me I needed new brakes all around so $300+ later and new brakes I went back and failed inspection again. So I went back, he adjusted the handbrake again and I passed. Well driving back from Arizona I hear a terrible noise when I brake but I can't stop in the middle of nowhere. I get home and a friend looks at the brake and it has an old brake shoe on it not a new one. He checked all the others and they were new. SO I got 3 new brakes and a ruined rotor. The bolt for the rotor snapped off with little force - maybe this was why he didn't change the shoe - either way I am not impressed. Pros: Fast service, the owner is committed to customer satisfaction he gave me afree bulb on the second return Cons: The owner can't quality check the mechanics work and the mechanic can't be trusted to do it right more

Not honest, overpriced . Stay away !!!! 11/16/2008

what I can say about Slaugh's is they dont know how to repair properly, and not being honest with the customer. I was treated horribly and will never come back again. Cons: unhonest, doing terrible job, stealing tools from customer more

Not your typical mechanic 10/8/2008

After reading great reviews about Slaugh's Car Care, I decided to cancel my appointment at the Honda dealership and take my car here. I'm SO glad I did. When I walked in, Mike greeted me and was friendly. He got my car in the garage immediately. I didn't feel I was taken advantage of at all. He told me my problem was a simple fix, and he fixed it without charging me an arm and a leg! It's obvious that Mike aims to earn repeat customers, and I am happy to say that I've found a mechanic to trust! Give him your business - you'll be glad you did. Pros: Friendly, Fast, Fair more

Fabulous Service! 9/15/2008

I am absolutely PHOBIC of mechanics, and this has been my best experience yet. As a woman who does not know much about cars, I have been A) talked down to and treated like I am an idiot and B) mislead and conned by mechanics in the past. Mike is extremely friendly, respectful, punctual, honest, and GREAT at what he does. I highly recommend Slaugh's to anyone for anything! Pros: honesty, friendliness, car always ready on time Cons: can't think of a one! more

Worth every penny! 3/2/2008

Slaugh's isTHE BEST !!!!! I have a 1999 4-Runner that 4 other mechanics and 3 different auto shops could not get to pass emissions because of a check engine light. Hundreds of dollars wasted, and a ticket later. I found Slaugh's Car-care on City Search. I called Mike, explained the problem and discussed price. Although, I was concerned about paying $110 for diagnosis, Mike assured me and was confident about his services. I made my appointment and just like he said he would he found the problem and fixed it all in the same day. And it was something so simple! He even called the following week to make sure that my light had not come back on!! I have never had such honnest reliable service. The cost of this kind service is underestimated I would have paid more. I just wish I would have gone to him first!!! Oh, all the money I could have saved! I will never go any where else. Pros: Trustworthy service and womens magazines in waiting area! (Big A+++) Cons: NONE! more

I've found a great new car mechanic! 12/18/2007

Slaugh's was personable, very reasonable and I was very satified. They found the problem with my temperature issues and found it was a plugged hose. They cleaned that gratis (a dealership never would have!) and fixed my window quickly and very reasonably. Pros: 2 thumbs up more

Only place I use in SLC. 10/2/2007

The service is always friendly and quick. The price is affordable. The job always gets done right and the staff doesn't try to get you for repairs you don't actually need. Pros: Friendly service. Cons: Parts are maybe a little expensive (but labor not so much). more

Friendly and Competent 6/26/2007

Although costly, the repairs were still cheaper than the dealership quoted. In addition to all the work I had done, Slaugh's fixed two things for free - the control panel for windows and door lock was broken and my key wouldn't unlock the driver-side door. The dealership quoted me over 300 bucks to replace the lock inside the door (which would have require me to have a different key just for that door). So, it would be hard for me to NOT recommend Slaugh's. Pros: efficient and friendly Cons: crowded parking more

Dream Shop 7/16/2006

Always friendly! Car is always ready when they say it will be so there's no waiting around unless someone else is paying when you get there. The price is never outlandish, they don't do unecessary things, and I've never had to bring it back for a do-over. If it's something they don't do, their referrals are trustworthy. Found them on the CarTalk website when I moved back to UT in 2000 after the local dealership's service dept. proved more than disappointing - later that same service dept tried to destroy my partner's car (we like Fords). They are closed on weekends and it's best to make an appointment if you can, but that's just common sense. Pros: Quick, Affordable, Trustworthy Cons: Closed on Weekends more

A Good Experience 3/9/2003

I had my CV axles replaced, which cost me $400 total. They were fast and courteous. Of interest, I was there during closing time, and they were busy moving a car into the garage so that its owner (who hadn't paid a bill) couldn't come and take it during the night. It was kind of a weird that they were doing it, but didn't affect my experience. Pros: Fast, Courteous, Accurate quote Cons: Slightly expensive more
