I saw your styles and salon featured in this month's Essence and wanted to give you kudos. It took forever for me to hear about your salon when I was stationed in St. Louis last year. I can tell the vibe you're trying to create there at Shi and you're well on your way. But - don't forget about the newcomers to St. Louis - if you advertised a tad bit more I'm sure you will see even more increase. You should also consider a website - once I saw Shi featured in Essence I typed it in the computer and the results ARE NOT what you are trying to sell... You should also consider updating your Twitter and the link on that page as it directs you to some swedish massage website! Do a FaceBook - it's FREE! The influx of people that will be looking up your salon after that FREE publicity from Essence will be disappointed and click on to the next one - I assure you. Get some pictures uploaded out there - MAKE me want to come! It appears you do good business now but don't block the Blessings by reaching out to newcomers and taking the time to keep ANYTHING with your name attached to it updated and on point. Also, your regulars are GREAT but don't forget the next new person in your chair is trying to become a regular too; too many salons get comfortable - beware - it'll make you stagnant. Schedule appointments correctly and keep them timely. Don't have too much front desk action, it's unsettling for a newby and make sure she represents YOU. I'm a picky consumer and my money is HARD to come by - however, I WILL pay for excellent service and that's not just having my hair whipped - you know women consumers buy the WHOLE package - if you think you're doing good now - go the extra mile and tighten up or shall I say straighten up your edges. Like grandma used to say - you just watch and see what I told ya! Good luck and kudos to you. (all that good advice was free to) ;) more

TaWanda has been doing my hair for awhile now and she is absolutely fabulous. She does not just do your hair, she grows your hair. My service is always rendered in a timely fashion and the level of professionalism was great. If you haven't be to Shi Salon you should go and see TaWanda she is worth every penny!!! more

I love the convenience of the location to downtown. My service was rendered in a timely manner and I loved my hair stylist. She was very warm and friendly. The parking was not friendly but I got past that once I walked through the doors. more

My stylist did a good job creating a style, but she used way too much heat on my natural hair, and I now have straight pieces. While I was in her chair, she told the woman who had sold her the heat tools she was currently using on my hair that the heat couldn't be regulated! The style looked good for a few days, but she burned my hair straight. If you plan to wear your hair natural again, you will not want to get your hair styled here. I also felt like she wasn't as knowledgeable about hair as I would have liked (which further explains why she used way too much heat). I take good care of my hair, and knew a lot more about natural hair than the stylist. The one thing I cannot do is style my hair in natural styles, and neither could she! Unless I need a trim, I will not be returning to Shi Salon, and if I do, I will request a stylist who knows how to style natural hair. more

I have been going to Shi Salon for about 8 months and I love it. Tawanda, my stylist is professional, timley, and takes great care of my hair. I never have to tell her how I want my hair because she always knows the right way to do it and has my hair looking fab! She communicates with me about the best way to take care of my short relaxed hair and she is friendly and is flexiable with schduling appointments. I have and will continue to recommend Tawanda to others more

Twanda has been my stylist for the last 3 months and I have truly loved every minute of it. Twanda is very knowledgable about hair and the best products to use. She is professional and very thorough. She takes her time and really listens to the needs of her clients. She always makes good suggestions and makes you feel special. I have had my hair natural for over 6 years now and I get tired of straightening it all the time. So I decided to go down the street and try a new salon. The beautician I had was Tawanda and she did an awesome job! My hair has never lasted so long and looked so beautiful, especially with a flat iron alone. She also clipped my end and made sure that I was comfortable with my length and look. I will definately be back to see what other stiyles I can have created other than just straightening! more

I absolutely love Shi Salon! I had several friends recommend the salon to me, and I am so glad that I listened to their advice. I had a bad experience in the past with a relaxer so I decided to grow out my natural hair again. I love the styles that Tawanda creates and my hair finally feels beautiful again. I was given my Shi Salon experience as a 40th Birthday gift..my party theme "Roaring 20's" & Constance gave your girl a sexy roaring 20"s hairdo that had everyone giving many compliments..She took time to consult with me because my hair was in bad shape thanks to a bad color job..She corrected the color, cut & styled & I looked like a new person...Thanks Constance & Shi for making me 40 & Fabulous more

I have spent sooo long trying to find the perfect stylist! One who is concerned about hair care, timeliness, and keeping up with the current hair trends. I found all of that in my stylist Tiffany at SHI SALON! When I first started going to Tiffany I was what you would call a very traditional in the box kinda of person. My hair was natural and I only wanted it pressed...but after several experiences with Tiffany she convinced me to jump out of my box and before I knew it I was showing off my new sexy trendy hair cut! I ABSOLUTELY loved it and got soooo many compliments from it! Thanks Tiffany for being the awesome professional trendy stylist you are! more

I went to Shi Salon as a birthday treat last year... It has now became a ritual for myself & bestie to go down for a sexy style for special occassions. Although it is a bit pricey, the customer service is beyond what you would expect. Everyone is kind & courteous. Beautiful upscale chic decor... You wouldn't be disappointed with the end result. The stylists know hair and also offers tips for better homecare of your hair. I have an appointment on the 19th (June) and can't wait to get in the chair. I strongly suggest Shi Salon more

Enhanced Parking and consistency of the receptionist would be welcomed; however: At Last!! After 4 years of 'trying' to maintain and remain a NATURAL girl, it was frustrating and very tempting to go back to the Dis-Ease of a Relaxer. THANK GOD for Madam C.J. Walker...Constance, You have taken over!! I L.O.V.E. my hair now. Have not worn weave/wigs in over 1 year to alleviate the headache of a bad hair day. Constance shampoo and style my natural hair bi-weekly. I feel that I can truly now say "My hair is My glory." Love the atmosphere of the salon. Stylists are upscale, upbeat, and pleasant. I have been to this location previously and had an okay experience. It is a little run down and the bathroom was disgusting. However, my hair dresser was great and extremely personable. She also helped me to decide on a few things that I was testing with my hair and gave me some good advice. I was willing to go back and endure the heat (when I went it was summer and they must not have AC), and the lack of following a schedule (I had an appointment and didn't get in for 30 minutes after my appointment). However, I was new to St. Louis and did not have a lot of experience with people knowing how to cut my biracial hair. So, I was willing to go back. Today I was calling to make an appointment and the receptionist answered the phone and then began to get rude with me. I was merely asking her for appointment times and then when I didn't answer right away she YELLED "Can you hold?" with a definite attitude. As I was shocked and did not answer right away she yelled it again TWO times and then just clicked HOLD. I hung up. Now, I understand that they provide quality service. But I can go somewhere else to receive quality service and GREAT customer service. I will NOT be returning. First impressions are key!! more

I had an appointment with Tiffany, the owner of the Salon, at 8:00 am. When I had called to make the appointment, I explained to Tiffany that I was getting married in a few weeks and was hoping for a great hair cut. She explained how she would do a consultation before the cut. My appointment was the first of the morning, and my visit began by having to wait for someone to come open the locked salon. The employee did not arrive until approximately 8:05, five minutes after my appointment. I sat in the salon for approximately 20 minutes, and finally asked whether my appointment was in fact at 8:00 or if I had the time wrong. I was told that Tiffany was "running a little late". Around 8:30, an employee decided to wash my hair, as Tiffany still had not arrived. I was unhappy that my hair would be washed before meeting with the stylist for a consultation, but by that point, I was more interested in saving some time. By 8:45, Tiffany still had not arrived. I asked for an update and was told that she was "on her way". Another employee told me he was going to blow dry my hair, which I refused. I've never heard of having your hair dried BEFORE the cut. After I refused the blow dry, the employee walked away rudely. At 9:00, one hour after my appointment, Tiffany still had not arrived, so I left the salon. I was extremely disappointed and frustrated with this experience. There was a complete lack of professionalism from the entire staff. No one acknowledged that Tiffany was extremely late, and I was only given "updates" when I asked. No one ever apologized for the inconvenience. I expected a call or card from Tiffany/the salon apologizing for the situation, especially considering that I was coming in as a bride before my wedding, but I never heard anything from the salon.
