Best

I just love this place.

Worst

While my sundae was ok, I think it would have been better if I hadn't noticed that all of the decorations on the walls were very very dusty. I know they're kind of hard to reach...

What gives? 2/3/2011

I'm writing to bring awareness to an issue that I had at this location. I needed to get either a cake and/or cupcakes for a birthday dinner for a friend of mine. It was after 7pm, so I knew it would not be the easiest to do, but never did I imagine it being so hard either! I called Scoop DeVille at 7:33pm. and the employee that answered confirmed that they had cakes AND they would be open until 8pm. I get to the door at at 7:50pm and the door is locked! I can see an employee in the back working and I knocked on the door. He basically gave me dismissive hand gesture and walked into a room further back in the establishment. I think i was a bit desperate to get a cake for this friend's birthday and I decided to call. The employee comes back into sight and answers the phone. I explained that I called him not too long ago and he confirmed that the store would be open until 8pm, and all I needed as a cake. He responds, "fine, I will let you in" and proceeds to slam the phone down in my ear and then slammed a towel on one of the counters in frustration. I'm looking at him in absolute shock at the fact that he would respond this way when I'm clearly in a jam AND I'm SPENDING my money! But don't forget the fact that I got to the door 10 minutes before closing! He truly made me feel like I was asking for a hand-out or something by simply opening the door and allowing me to SPEND my money. I knocked on the door again and gestured to him to don't even bother doing me any favors and I walked away. For me, this was truly a "what gives" situation because I was there before the closing time, there to spend money, so I don't know exactly what the problem was with this particular employee? For the record, I am a Black man, however, I wasn't dressed in "hip-hop" attire nor do I look particularly intimidating. Again, for me, this was a "what gives situation." The great thing is that there's an establishment at Walnut and Juniper by the name of Naked Chocolate that stays open late and that was a much better experience. The atmosphere more

worth a visit 3/21/2006

A little pricey, but worth it if you like good ice cream, floats, sundaes, etc. They also have a candy counter where you can get things like peanut clusters, bon-bons, truffles, etc. And they have prepackaged gift boxes/bags of candy and other sweets ready to go. A few tables inside and one or two outside when the weather’s nice. Definitely worth going to, but the line will probably be long. more

Great desserts 10/3/2005

Scoop de Ville has the feel of an old time ice cream palor. They have a great selection of ice cream and candy. The gourmet chocolate covered pretzels are amazing. They put together gift baskets that are perfect for chocolate lovers! more

Great Ice Cream and toppings! 9/14/2005

Scoop DeVille is a great place to grab ice cream and then head to Rittenhouse Sq. Often a long line in the summertime. No tables to sit at. Recently moved to Chestnut street from Walnut. I have brought in my own toppings and they blended it into the yogurt! Another ice cream option is Ben and Jerrys which is down 18th street. Great selection of candy and chocolates more

Tasty Ice Cream and Confections 8/17/2005

Scoop de Ville serves delicious ice cream in a cute little confectioner's shop. It also has a wide variety of chocolate and other candies as well as a small selection of candy novelty items. In particular, they are known for ice cream mixed with toppings similar to the Blizzard at Dairy Queen only with real ice cream, not soft serve. It also has a couple of tables for sitting but there can be a line in the summer. more
