Schmidt Painting

Schmidt Painting was very flexible waiting for our builder to finish the renovations before they could start. They had to keep coming back before they were able to finish the job. They always returned my calls and always came back despite our hold ups. I would definitely hire them for an inside or outside job. They use quality materials and have really high standards. more

We purchased a new home out on Cape Cod. The painters that were hired by the builders did a substandard job painting the house. We hired Derrick's company, Schmidt Painting, to come and straighten it out and finish it. They did the job better than we expected. They absolutely exceeded any expectations. Derrick was great about being on time, had a supervisor on the job who was wonderful to work with, and was very attentive to the work we asked him to do. He was very diligent about making sure the work was done, using hard workers who worked all day long. We didn't see them take a lot of breaks, and they got right back to work after lunch. The estimate he gave me to do the job was almost right on the money, too. Some of the siding had been taken down and put back up many times, so there were a lot of nail holes in it. He saw it and asked if we wanted the holes filled. I said I would like that done, and they ended up working so efficiently on filling it that the job did not cost much extra at all. I was coming from out of state for this project, and Derrick worked with me on scheduling. He estimated how many days and was again on the money about that. He was really, really good to work with. I especially appreciate that he will give you an idea of how many fill-able hours the job will take. You can see where the project is going and watch it with a budget and time in mind. You have the ability to not get surprised by a bill or something at the end. I really liked how Derrick did business in every way, and I would hire him again in a minute. I had called three other painters who either didn't show up, or had estimates MUCH higher than his. Derrick was the highest-rated painter on Angie's List, and he definitely lived up to it. Our 100+ year old family houses in Bourne had not been painted in almost 10 years. Derrick responded immediately when I contacted him from Angie's List last fall and came back right away with proposals. Because of changes in the law we were unable to use the same product we had used in the past. Derrick gave us some options and numerous houses to drive by and look at to compare the look of their work with the different products. It is my first time using Schmidt Painting. They did interior painting and a full exterior painting that also involved power washing. The most important part is the really excellent prep. Derrick also referred me to someone to replace the gutters and worked elaborately with him. Most important thing was how knowledgeable Derrick and his wife was about painting. I live on Cape Cod and moisture is a big issue, living near the ocean. They really came up with ways to manage problems so their knowledge base was really impressive. Communication was impressive because the biggest drawback in hiring even very good trade people is that communication is often a barrier in getting what you want. The people that paint and work with him are fantastic and well-supervised. He does advertise that you don't finish paying until everything is fixed and he honors that. I didn't have a lot of problems, but there are always little things that happen at the end. He's really dedicated to solve problems and helps you figure out what to do. I'm a fussy customer and got a number of bids but I selected Schmidt Painting on the basis of their knowledge and expertise. I was not the least bit disappointed. more
