I love the old school charm that Saputo's has and the wait staff is very knowledgeable and honest about the menu items. The pick up option is very nice as well. The liquor especially is very pricey. The filet is very well the best in town, i do prefer the garlic butter sauce on the side. more

Given the proximity to the two major hotels in downtown, and the fact that it is a favorite with the legislators, you can usually find some powerful people here ... and the food is powerful as well ... great tasting and good prices ... the service and atmosphere are both out of this word ...\r more

We've dined at Suputo's five times in the last several years and have not been disappointed. The Italian breaded filet mignon is out of this world! A big steak, juicy and tender, covered with a crusted Italian breading. I've also had several of the pasta dishes and they have always been fresh, homemade and good. The salad is a perfect compliment to the steak. We didn't have room for a potato since the steak was so large. Suputo's has been in business since 1948 and with the fine dining they continue to offer, know it will be around for a very long time. more

We were tourists in town to see things Abraham Lincoln. This restaurant was close to our hotel. It's family owned and has been in Springfield since 1948. Some complain that the food is outdated, but I really enjoyed it (maybe I'm outdated too). The service was a little slow, but we that just added to the charm. The food was great. I had salad, bread and lasagna with sausage and enjoyed every bite. more

I grew up in Springfield, now live in New England, and can vouch for Saputo's being certainly one of the best restaurants in Springfield. The food is great, the service is wonderful, the atmosphere is nice, and it's authentic Springfield. It may not be authentic Italian in the sense of what you'd find in Italy, or gourmet as in a big city, but it's a bargain and a great place to go in a city loaded with franchise restaurants. If Saputo's had existed in Abe's time, he would have hung out there. What, you think you're better than Lincoln? Allrightythen, go to Saputo's.\r more

A friend and I ate here on a Wednesday evening. Arrived just after 5:00pm and it was already busy. By 6:00pm, the place was packed ... and they literally 'pack' you in. Those waitresses have to be able to walk sideways to get through the tables.\r \r This maybe wasn't the best Italian food I have ever eaten (I am an Italian food snob!), but this was very good and I am very glad we went. The prices were reasonable and the food was very plentiful. We ate basic pasta. I had ravioli (as our waitress insisted it was homemade) and my friend had the baked mostaccioli. We both had meatballs and they were very good ... the best part of the meal.\r \r I do like the 'old time' atmosphere and this place had that. \r \r I would guess this is a place that has a long local following as everyone there seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Our waitress was great! We are glad that we went. \r \r btw.... I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor as I was looking for a place to eat not far from our hotel. Trip Advisor and all those contributing really make an 'out-of-towner' feel more at ease about getting around! We were two ladies making the trip to Springfield to see the sites. more

While visiting the Lincoln Museum, my wife and I thought we'd give this place a try since we were staying across the street at the Hilton. We had a great experience. We arrived on a Wednesday at 6pm without a reservation. The place was crowded but we were seated right away. If I came back I would make a reservation to ensure a seat.\r This is a small place with tables close together. It's clean, relatively quiet. There is a small bar to the front. A larger room in the back I think can be used for parties with advanced arrangements.\r Our waitress was very friendly and served us quickly but not rushed. Spot on...\r I had the homemade ravioli with sausage and my wife the baked lasagna with meatballs. Both were very good. The sauce had the right amount of garlic bite to it. Very tasty entrees.\r We would go back. more

Ate embarrassingly early on a weeknight but the place was packed. Loved the house salad dressing and generous portions. Baked ravioli was worth writing home about. Ambiance was dark yet casual and crowded.\r more

My aunt used to love the salad dressing you could get in the plain, unlabled bottle. I had diner here a couple of years ago and had a very good lasagne. It's a quaint little Italian place in the heart of downtown, near the convention center.\r more

Great Lasagna 2/22/2009

I hate going to a new restaurant and ordering something that sounds great; and disappointed when the food arrives. That's not the case with Saputo's. I always order their baked lasagna. It's not the traditional lasagne with the layers; but it tastes great and is always the same so I know what I'm going to be getting. Their salads are very fresh and good. I have always had great and friendly service whenever I've been there and it's usually with 5 or 6 other people. Whenever we order carryout, my husband gets their steak and it's always been very good. He likes his well-done and most restaurants don't like to cook it that way since it is usually dry; but Saputo's has always gotten his well-done (no pink) and he's been very satisfied with it. more

Steaks Great 11/12/2008

You will be pleasantly surprised if you order steak - especially garlic steak, and steak fries - they are surprisingly good. The steaks are better than Italian Food. more

This is a great place for authentic Italian food. This restaurant is locally owned and operated. It has been in Springfield for decades. It is not a big place and it is always full of people. Saputos and Springfield go hand in hand. more
