Tony and Tim are by far some of the best salesmen I have dealt with. I appreciate their honesty and commitment to myself and my wife. We seriously could not have done the deal without them! Thanks again you guys for being so helpful and for treating us like family! I would recommend going to see Tony first before any other dealer, and trust me we went to them all, because of the service he gives each one of his customers. He is a good kid with a bright future! more

I came to Sands with a ""just looking"" 2/22/2012

I came to Sands with a ""just looking"" state of mind. All that changed when Pete Johnson approached me. The entire time I almost forgot I was even buying a vehicle. The knowledge this man has on not only the Silverado, but the competitor trucks as well just put me in shock. He made me feel like he knew me my entire life. It was like we were friends. I am usually a Ford guy but thanks to Pete I left in a beautiful 2012 Silverado. Anybody who is looking for a car/truck I suggest you go see Pete Johnson at Sands Chevrolet!!! more

RIP OFF! 11/29/2011

Got an answer back from the AG. Basically Sands said the newspaper printed the wrong info, and some hokey looking letter from the paper that looked like a street person wrote it up for them. Never did explain why the same picture and info was on their OWN website and neither did the AG. Really a pathetic response. But I urge any of the rest of you to file and after the AG gets tired of hearing from the screwed public maybe they will take some real action. Hopefully it was at the least an inconvenience to Sands. And a blemish on their record. Like I said, if enough complain to the AG it might bring some eventual results. The form is on the Az. AGs site and very easy to do. Altho I sent a packet with the paper ad and screen shot of the Sands website ad. Good luck to you! more

Worst Car Buying Experience Ever! 12/27/2010

Our nightmare started on Christmas Eve, when we made the unfortunate decision to visit Sands Chevrolet to look at a vehicle they advertised. When we arrived, we met an outstanding (new) sales representative, Pete. Pete walked us around the lot after we went through a brief conversation about what we were in fact looking for. My request were not all that complicated; V8, power options, automatic, 4 door, NO HAIL DAMAGE. \r \r After looking at several new and used vehicles, we found a used vehicle w/ approx 5k miles on it. We noticed a couple small dents on it and were told that the hail damaged vehicles were marked with an ""X"" on the windshield. This vehicle had no ""X."" We took it for a test drive and went to the office for out 5 hour negotiation. Finally we came to an agreement and they rushed us through the rest of the process. After about 45 minutes of waiting for the car to get out of the wash, it pulled up and we were sent on our way. No final walk through, nothing. Here is your paperwork and have a nice day. There lies my first mistake, assuming that the dirty vehicle wasn't hiding any presents... Well, when we got the vehicle home, there lies the pretty little dents all over the truck and a large dent on the rear fender. Most very small and insignificant but nevertheless, I will see them every day. \r \r Right away we decided to call the dealership, spoke with Paul, the GM. He told me to bring it in the day after Christmas, as they will be closed and they will take a look at it. On Sunday, we spoke with Pete, our salesperson, and Heston, the manager on duty. Both looked at the truck and we came to the conclusion that they would switch out the vehicle. Heston said that he has a used vehicle coming in that was identical to the one I had with the exception of maybe the color and that I should be able to pick it up on Friday. He convinced me to take the truck back home and he would call me late in the week. \r \r On Monday, the finance guy called me and said he forgot to get a couple references... so I explained the situation as I assume the contract would need to change and he said he would take it up with the manager(s), At the end of the day, I get a call from Ernest, Sales Manager, and he said that they never said that and I am stuck with the deal. After arguing on the phone for nearly 20 minutes, we went straight down there and they said they would look into swapping it out today but that is it. When we arrived, there idea of swapping me out was to put me in an 07 Chevy Avalanche w/ 40k miles on it or switch into a new vehicle that would either cost more or a V6 work truck. That is not acceptable. We even discussed the situation with our sales representative and they wouldn't even let him in the room during these discussions. On the lot, he acknowledged the conversation on Sunday but said he is new and they are his bosses, there is nothing he can do... Finally Ernest said that is it, they are not switching the deal and it is irrelevant what the other manager said, they are not authorized to make deals like that and this is my problem. I should have looked over the vehicle better. Last straw was the GM wouldn't even come out to speak with us, stating to the Sales Manager that we have discussed all that needs to be discussed and I need to go. \r \r Well, lets hope Call 12 for Action, the Attorney Generals office, Better Business Bureau and every other consumer advocate agency is ready for this one. This is clearly misrepresentation and deceptive business practices from the start.\r \r Do yourself a favor, read the reviews before you buy from these characters. more

Sneaky Slimy Suspicious BUYER BEWARE 12/27/2010

My husband and I went to Sands to look at a used car they had advertised online. We called before we went and spoke to the Internet Sales Manager Bill McDowell who assured us the vehicle was there...When we arrived at the dealership a couple hours later lo and behold the vehicle we wanted was mysteriously sold....We were assigned a slick salesperson and never did see Mr Bill during the sales process...\r \r Dawn our salesperson promised us everything verbally and we ended up buying the vehicle with a We Owe for a minor repair and also promised to detail our vehicle the next day when we came back since it was late and service was closed. She also told us that we had 3 days to bring the car back if we were not satisfied. (i found out later this is a lie and AZ does not have a 3 day return on automobiles) \r \r Funny how during the finance transaction our We OWE paperwork dissapeared and we were rushed through finance so quickly im not sure my husband even knew what he was signing...They only put my husband on the paperwork when we were BOTH the buyers. \r \r We called the next day to alert them of the finance error and never got a return phone call. we then went to the lot and were told i could not be added on the deal b/c of my credit score was too low. We then went to our credit union and got financing in about 15 minutes...HMMMM \r \r During the detail process our floor mats dissapeared and most of what we had asked for was not done.\r \r I feel terrible about buying a vehicle from this dealership and would never do it again...I DO NOT trust a word that comes out of anyone's mouth that is associated with this place and have yet to see them actually come through or make good on anything they have promised. \r \r Please DO NOT BUY from this dealership...I hate my car now because of the horrible experience I had to endure at this dealership!!! Saving a few dollars is just not worth the loss of integrity...\r \r Gullible in Glendale more

Don't Go Anywhere Else! 10/29/2010

I have purchased my last 3 vehicles from the Sands Internet depatment and I would not ever consider going anywhere else. Bill McDowell listens to what you need and doesn't try to sell you something higher priced like the other dealers do. Mr. McDowell had everything ready for me before I arrived and made the transactions as simple as possible for me. He was also willing a to make any changes that I asked for and always had a great attitude and made me feel like he sincerley appreciated my continued business. He was always more than willing to answer any questions I had, even after the sale. I have sent others to purchase cars from Bill and they were also very impressed and satisfied. I have compared prices and have never found a lower price anywhere else. You won't regret working with Bill McDowell at Sands Chevrolet.\r more

Sleazy people, they stink! 4/29/2010

Stay away from these sleazey, scum bags, I don't understand how they remain in business. The AZ State Attorney General's office has many complaints on record of their criminal behavior. If you go to this place after reading all the reviews here, then you deserve to get screwed by these idiots. Pros: nothing Cons: the will rip you off more

Biggest Liars and Cheats 4/17/2010

I was told I would be able to finance a car with my crappy credit. Chuck the salesman was so convincing, but after almost 3 weeks they said my financing fell thru. Fine I took the car back and the said they would tear up the check for the deposit. But the thieves cashed it and are now saying to bad. They said there was damage to the car. But the fact of the matter is they cant sell it as new and they are making an example of me. Do Not trust CHUCK the salesman. He will tell you what you want to hear and then bend you over after the fact. BEWARE of the thieves at SANDS CHEVROLET Buy a FORD or a DODGE if they are the only CHEVY DEALER available. Do not make the same mistake I did. Also the manager is a complete rude and obnoxious jerk. He should not be a face of Sands Chevrolet. Pros: There is nothing pro about this car co. Cons: They are liars, theives and scumbags more

Bunch of Scumbags 3/18/2010

I would not be surprised if these guys were trained by Scientologists.... We called several times before we made the decision to visit this dealership (over 60 miles for us) each time we talked to the same person on the phone but when we arrived at the dealership nobody seemed to know this person. Nobody made any attempts to find out about this mystery employee. At this moment we should have left their lot. At this point we should have already known what kind of dirty games they play. Naturally, their advertised offer (confirmed several times over the phone by Mr. Mystery) was not available, but they would ""get us into something close"" this ""something close"" naturally would have turned out several thousand dollars more expensive than what made us come to their place. Again, at this point we should have said ""good bye, it was a pleasure frequenting your establishment"". Somehow we were still there in their office, listening to their sales pitch, all kind of promises and then, suddenly it was ""if we do this and that for you, would you commit to the deal ?"" They actually charged my credit card $ 2,000.- for this ""commitment"" before they had explained any details like interest rate, number of payments, total amount financed, etc. etc. We had not even seen a purchase contract. The only number that they would disclose was the exact amount of the monthly payments, anything else was ""I don't know, usually it is somewhere between 60 and 72 months..."" What made us decide to escape from this shark fish tank was the sales person's explanation ""By law you have to take possession of this vehicle tonight, you are not allowed to leave it on the lot for the modifications that you have requested."" What we learned from other reports it seems like it is essential for their business that the customer takes immediate possession of the vehicle, I am guessing that there are legal reasons, probably there is still a way how to dispute the purchase contract before taking possession of the vehicle. Well, finally we did the best what we could do and after reading all these horror stories I start to understand who we were dealing with - when we walked out through the door a bunch of sales people followed us, I could not even leave the lot because someone was holding the open passenger side door and would not let my wife close it. On the way home they called on my cell phone and tried to order us back ""You have to come back, otherwise we can't reverse the credit card charges."" (I already filed a dispute with my credit card company). These people try to play the ""authority game"", take control over you, tell you what you have to do. Have fun with this business ! Pros: Shiny new good smelling cars on their lot Cons: Bait and switch, high pressure sales tactics more

Avoid Sands Cevrolet like the Taliban! 7/18/2009

I went to Sands and was made to believe that even with my sub par credit rating, they could get me on the road with reasonable payments. I blame me. The payments were far from reasonable but I needed new wheels because my previous car was nickling and diming me with two wheels in the car graveyard. I ended up leaving with high payments (400.00 a mo) but hey, at least I had gap insurance and a 3 year extended warranty.\r \r 3 Days later the dealership calls me in saying ""great news."", we've lowered your payment by 42 dollars a month. So I went in and the finanancer named Mark who is a Ginormous D**K, had the paperwork out and everything. Then he tells me that the catch is I lose my three year extended warranty. I said, well then i'll keep the old deal. Id rather pay the 42 a mo to be able to save possible hundreds or thousands in repairs. Mark tells me, oh well no the bank already made the deal and you have to accept it. I got him to admit in so many words that AFTER I signed for the car, they then decided to take my extended warranty away and tried to hock it to me under the guise of mildly lower payments. \r \r They waved an extended warranty in front of my face and once papers were signed, the stole it away from me. I was a fool for signing the documents without first simply leaving and calling a lawyer. That is my mistake to pay for. \r \r But let me tell you most sincerely that Sands Chevrolet is just like their mascot ""Buzz the Buzzard"". They are all Buzzards flying around your carcass waiting to pick the meat off of you. Beware of Sands Chevrolet at ALL cost. There HAS to some place else that is safer for you. Cons: Crooks,Thieves,Cons, more

Sideways deals and scams! BUYERS BEWARE SANDS CHEVROLET! 4/23/2009

My husband and I went in to check out their inventory, found a car we liked and were able to take it home the same day. They assured us that there would be absolutely no problem getting us financed. Two weeks later we got a call saying that financing cannot be approved, please return the vehicle. Less than an hour later we attempt to return the vehicle and they leave us waiting at a salesperson's desk for almost 45 minutes while they all huddle together in one of the finance offices. Out comes the saleslady and ""Del"" who says that he is the General Manager (he is not, we checked) and he says he has good news, he found us financing we just need to sign a new contract! He refuses to let us see a copy of said contract or tell us the name of the bank that was supposedly agreeing to finance us, he said he was not legally obligated to release that information (lie). We refuse to sign a contract without being able to look over it first and have it reviewed by an attorney because at this point we're pretty sure we're getting the run around. ""Del-the-GM"" continues by claiming to have a ""dealer's right"" to buy a loan from the bank and force us to make payments to the dealership (lie). When I explained that by doing that he would effectively be voiding our buyer's agreement he threatened us with legal action. The next day I consulted our attorney who informed me that a buyer's agreement is conditional and does not legally bind us to the car, that dealership, or to anything else. No contract has been formed until you sign the financing agreement from the actual bank who you will be financing the loan through. Furthermore it is in the buyer's agreement that you have to sign the day you get the car that if you are denied financing as outlined in the buyer's agreement you have no right to the car. Our attorney advised us to return the car and the keys that day and he wrote letters on our behalf to the dealer, the GM corporate headquarters in Detroit, the State Attorney General's Office, the Better B-B and anyone and everyone else that we could file a complaint with. We went to the dealership as soon as I returned home, parked the car in front and set the keys on the sales person's desk. She had obviously been expecting us to sign the new contract they were trying to force us into the day before and the look on her face when we told her that she would be hearing from our attorney was absolutely priceless! What Sands Chevrolet attempted to drag us into is called a Spot Delivery Scam or a Yo-Yo Scam. Both are illegal and will void any buyer's agreement that you have with them. My advice; 1. STAY AWAY FROM SANDS CHEVROLET AT ALL COSTS! 2. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND DON'T LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU! Pros: Absolutely not one. Cons: Salesmen are willing to lie, cheat and steal.. literally! more

Ripping me off and going for more $ from me for my 1996 Isuzu Rodeo. 2/21/2009

Sands Service department has been unprofessional over a period of 4-5 phone calls. Being put on hold, passed around, someone is away from their desk ect...\r I had a misfire in my 1996 Isuzu Rodeo. Dana (service agent) told me it was the fuel injectors. For $1,000, I could have all four replaced. They ordered the parts...wrong parts. More delay. Two weeks...three days in a dirty compact rental (gross). VERY inconvenient. They called to say it was finished and, oh by the way, they found a cracked spark plug...three weeks later, the problem persists...misfire. Dana does not work there, Steve is handling things worse. He is rude. He told me that they would look at it, ""but we don't know what happened while you had the car fro two weeks"". Thus treating me like...(there is a 90 day labor warranty, stay tuned...If you can avoid this place...avoid it. more
